Session 34: Riddles on the Page Report
General Summary
The Scales secured their prisoner and the findings from the Caravan, mostly a bound satchel of communications that seemed to have an enchantment upon them to protect the documents from falling into the wrong hands. Collecting themselves for the day, arranging the funeral of Garr who had fallen in the ambush at the Bronze Wheel Home, and general recovering from the less then successful raids on other Bronze Wheel holdings, the Scales would spend a great deal of effort upon where their information leak was. The Following day, A'lar would use his wand of Dispel Magic to remove the wards upon the folio, finding inside a ciphered set of communications. Longwei, A'lar and Indalell would set about solving the cipher while Ayrien looked for the escaped Bronze Wheel family members and Ismaril and Adalon would interrogate the prisoner.
Ismarils unnerving presence set the dwarf on edge, while Adalon attempted to be more approachable. "Make me a deal to get me out of this cage and I will tell you anything you want." the gruff and still rather battered Hrungul would offer. Ismaril would ply her psionic powers upon him compelling his words to be the truth. Adalon would shrug a bit nonchalant, "I will do what I can." Hrungul being unimpressed would answer questions, vaguely, avoiding direct answers were possible, and his truthful tho deceptive manner would anger the frustrated Ismaril. Her eyes would turn black as she assaulted his mind with images of terror. The Stalwart warrior however seemed un phased in her attempts to riddle him with fear. "He can rot I guess" she spat, as she turned to leave, Adalon would shrug, "Sorry friend, guess you are going to be here a while." Returning to the other Scales as the last of the documents were decoded, Indalell would be most set aback that his persona of "Indigo" which no one should really know was specifically sited in a set of dossiers that were being sent to clan Vermillion. The documents were other wise fairly un interesting, confirming that Vermillion was behind the anti dragonist movement continent wide, and that those here were reporting back for instructions, and unsure their next move. A'lar would go and see Hrungul hearing of the poor result of the first interrogation. Bringing a bottle of whiskey and a glass with him he would fill it up setting it inside the cell, to which a seemingly sleeping Hrungul would not respond. Taping the bars with the bottle he would open an eye. "I was hoping to try this conversation a new," A'lar would offer motioning to the glass. Hrungul would drink and listen to A'lars proposition of amnesty for Hrunguls family. The dwarf would laugh and shake his head, "You dont have them and they are long gone, get me out of this cage and set me free and Ill tell ya all I can." A'lar would frown, "Give me something useful and I will put you on a ship and send you far away, only offer." While clearly not ideal, but, acceptable Hrungul would divulge what he could. Less then A'lar would have hoped for, but he did learn something, that the Cockatrice was a foreigner, brought here by Hrungul some time ago, and he was not a Gnome, like they had met several months ago. This lead A'lar to believe he was a doppelganger like Indalell.
The Scales would spend the following day meeting with Ambassador Sildenaer, offering him a new position, as commander of the armed wing of the Scales and giving him a seat at the table, as a member of the Scales, creating a council of 7 for this new organization, which would make deadlocks avoidable. Sildenaer would accept, and as first act, begin moving the hundreds of Draconians he had been creating for the last few weeks into the barracks vacated to the scales in the Ary. In this process the Scales would assemble all their followers looking to find any sign of their information leak, with little success. With few leads but knowing the Cockatrice needed to be dealt with the Scales would put their efforts to finding the terrorist leader and formulating a plan of their next moves.
