Session 20: The Hoard

General Summary

With the immediate threat neutralized the Scales went to work in gaining access to the Lord Aelindons chambers and that of the Slumbering Dragon Lord. Indalell produced his enchanted tools and went to work upon the first locked door. In a few moments the door clicked open leading to a lavish bedroom that while lived in was well kept. As they moved further in and began to turn it over, Indalell would gain access to his personal study and Ismaril would find an extravagant enchanted bath that would bubble and steam, lamenting they were amidst a siege. Going over the desk thoroughly, Indalell would find a hidden compartment, trapped and locked. A moment or two of steady work upon the device would find both disabled and a cache of Caelions personal correspondences with the Lord of Clan Vermillion. Stashing those for now, the scales would move across the Dragon Lords hall to the other room, the locking giving way to Indalells skill, a room with thick layers of dust would be found, tho the floors upkept. In the slumbering Dragon Lords study, A'lar would discover a magical enchanting table that had a latent enchantment. Working with Adalon, they would uncover this was a teleportation device, likely to the Dragons Hoard deep below the fortress. Indalell would step forward with Ismaril and Longwei as he tried to activate the table, After studying the runes, Indalell would touch the corresponding markings and the three would vanish. Appearing in a great cavern littered with gold, treasure, weapons, armor, jewels and all manner of wealth, the torchlight casting a strange golden reflection about the room. The 3 Scales of Fate would look out over the hoard as a dozen or more Draconiens turned noting their arrival and drawing weapons.

The Red and Blue scaled Dragon like humanoids would roar and hiss rushing forward as the scales teleported in 3 at a time. A battle line was quickly formed, Vaera and Aryien moving to protect their own left flank from a Red Draconien making its way around. Indalell would push out from the line catching one off guard his blades cutting deep, but was quickly overwhelmed, his body bruised and bloodied from heavy mace blows. The second row of Draconiens began to hurl Javelins as the lines clashed. A'lar arriving last would conjure an illusion of Lord Aelindon who would begin to shout orders. While many of the Draconiens recognized him, they did not feel the usual compulsion to obey their creator and were struck in a state of confusion. Ismaril and Longwei would push hard upon the left side of the line cutting through their enemies, joined by Ayrien after securing the flank. Adalaon, his squire, Idrial and Bliss would push the center while Garr and Katarina would push the right allowing Indalell to withdraw. Garr would deliver a sickening kick to the Draconiens crotch only to be reminded the creatures had no methods of reproduction, "Oh mate...im sorry..." he would stammer before smashing them with an axe. While the fighting was fierce the Scales of Fate would begin to gain the upper hand collapsing the left and right upon the center. One Draconien would begin to withdraw wounded, chased in a hail of arrow fire from Indalell but would escape down a westerly corridor.

Bliss and Indalell would take a moment to heal as would Adalon as the Scales began to mop up. Ismaril would push to the east, finding 5 more Draconiens having formed a defensive line down a corridor, would begin to hurl psinoic mind blasts to pull them forward. As the lines were drawing up to the east, 2 Draconiens would emerge from the west, engaging with Ayrien, Adalon, and A'lars Claws, but were quickly overwhelmed. A'lar, Adalon, and Ismaril would all unleash their Drakania breath weapons, wounding the block of troops to the east. The Draconiens would surge forward, Javelins being hurled at Ismaril as she skillfully dodged each. "You should join a dodgeball team" A'lar would say with a grin, still clearing his throat after the distressing use of his breath weapon. The fighting in the narrow tunnels would be fierce, as everyone vied for space in the narrow cave. As the Draconiens were cut down they would give as good as they took, knocking Idrial unconscious and smashing Bliss with a devastating blow from a mace, killing her outright. A'lars illusions would take a rageful appearance as he attempted to end the Blue Draconien leading them. As this battle neared its conclusion, Neia and the Claws guarding the west passage would alert the others more Draconien were coming....
