Session 21: A Long Night a Longer Fight. Report

General Summary

The shouts of more Draconiens would prove troublesome. Adalon would step into the fray cutting down the Blue Draconien commander, while Ismaril's crystalline rapier would finish the second. Longwei would begin to pass out potions as the battle subsided, however on the other side of the cave Garr would grunt as several Javelins came flying and he proved be less adept at dodgeball then Ismaril. Katarina and Neia would do their best to hold the wave of another 4 Draconiens as the others rushed to their defensive line. Ayrien would be the first to arrive and would be rewarded with several devastating mace blows. Indalell would cut into them next, once again the weight of the Scales numbers would over power the Draconiens, but not without leaving several of them badly injured. Garr and Katarina would ask about Bliss, to which A'lar would just hake his head, the two looking down for a moment. Ismaril and the others would push onward to explore the west wing of the cave while the wounded were tended too, finding stairs up and a hatchery, but little else. Everyone patched up and on their feet they would all move East.

At the end of the tunnel a path would move north, a shimmering blue field of magic would block their progress, as Galadron, a female Elven Mage and a Draconien were standing about a Blue egg, a ritual in the process. Finding little time to waste A'lar would spring an illusion of the cave collapsing in upon the enemy ahead, to which Galadron and the Draconien would seem to believe but the woman would not, turning to see the Scales battering down the magical barrier with heavy blows. As the magical field shattered, she would finish her incantation and a fireball would explode in the close quarters of the tunnel all around the Scales. Neia, Garr, and A'lar would be flung back from the blast knocking them unconscious as the rest their armor and clothes singed would surge forward. Idrial would vanish as he drank a potion and moved in with the others. Longwei would deliver heavy blows to the Draconien, who would return the blows in kind. Katarina would force a potion down A'lars throat to have him blink awake. Indalell would drive his blades into Galadron, perhaps with too much fervor, the mage gurgling under the critical blow and falling dead. The female mage would step back her form bursting into many mirrored forms. The Scales would push in faster however and their blows would all shatter her illusionary doubles, seeing the battle turning she would make a run for it. Taking a few blows on her way out she would reach a table with a teleportation link sending her to the second floor. The others would follow but would not find any sign of her. The sounds of battle were all about the castle as the forces of the Queen had stormed the walls and keep.

The Scales would collect their wounded and dead and meet with the invading forces of the Queen above. Elim would have created many distractions and used his ability to look like Lord Aelindon to open the postern doors to make the assault less bloody and quicker. Lord Aelindon himself would have escaped upon a Drake and was being pursued by the queens forces. The ritual book would seem to have escaped with the female mage, Identified as Elweniel, Galadrons apprentice and a professor at their magic college. The Queen would invite the scales to rest at the palace and join a victory celebration in the morning. Caelion Aelindon would indeed have escaped, along with Elweniel, tho not together. The Queens forces suffered small casualties in comparison to their foe and fully united Aureate families behind her rule. However much of Caelions forces were afield and the Clan would now be embroiled in a prolong civil war with Clan Frostblood still raiding and harrying them. Queen Thalindra would thank the Scales of Fate for their invaluable aide during a breakfast feast and celebration, offering each a reward from the Clan Treasury of any Item they wished from her vaults. A'lar would choose a fine diamond and ask the Queen to have her High Priest raise Bliss, to which the Queen would agree. Midway thru the celebration Ismaril would hear a voice speaking in her mind, but not like her Telepathy, "The east is beset with the undead, there is rumors of a Dracolich, the Crystal Guard is being put on full defensive alert - Ambassador." Ismaril would say out loud "Well Fuck..." relaying the message to the others, they would be granted permission to use the Teleportation circle to return home with haste, and to make plans to venture to Clan Starlight.
