Session 65: What Nightmares may come? Report
General Summary
It took a day for Lord Starborn to get the ritual in place to send the Scales into the dreaming space of his daughters subconscious. That night with all the scales sleeping in a great circle he would initiate the psionic link that would send each of the scales into Ismarils dreaming space. As they arrived, they would find a space of warped reality where doors and pathways twisted every which way and from all directions. Ismaril would note the faint sound of Harp music, but would press off the ground and float thru the dreaming space and descended thru a tunnel arriving in a large rotunda where a young boy was wandering about shaking with fear. The other Scales would follow behind, the young boy would finally recognize Ismaril and would withdraw in fear, "Its you! Why! Why did you do this to me!" It became quickly apparent to the others that this young boy was in fact a projection of the young man that Ismaril's dread powers first manifested to. Ismaril guilt made manifest in this youths projection, the scales attempted to soothe the fears bound in the projection as Ismaril asked for his forgiveness and thus forgive herself.
A'lar would next be curious to find where the harp music was playing from and the Scales would wander down this winding path of Ismarils mind to a great parlor where a young Ismaril was seated frustrated and diligently playing upon a harp. Her mother would scold and correct her in an endless loop, "You will never be a virtuoso if you play like this!" her mothers projection would scold. Weather this a memory or some other manifestation none were quite sure but A'lar was curious and would approach to try and read over Ismarils shoulder at her music stand. As he grew near the image of her mother would twist and contort into a terrible aberration of the dreaming world, a floating eye which consumed all its gaze settled intently upon. As it took shape the many in the audience listening to Ismaril play would turn into grotesque nightmares. The battle was swift and terrible as the creatures assaulted the psyche of the scales assembled in Ismarils dreams. A'lar would spend a moment to adjust young Ismarils playing, her music would suddenly empower those in the dream giving them the edge necessary to banish the creatures from Ismarils dream scape.
Next the Scales would travel to a great rainbow bridge, but as they walked upon it darkness engulfed them, several would stare longily over the edge risking becoming lost in the void. Ismaril was the first to give in falling into the great nothingness, A'lar soon following. Adalon would take flight on his drake trying to catch them but once leaving the bridge the drake would lose its flight and plunge into the nothingness below. With a thud each would land on floating islands in a great sea of thought. Adalon would see a distant key necessary to unlock the great beast they were sent here for and work his way across the floating islands. Ismaril ignoring the others would skip and leap her way to another pathway leaving the chaotic floating islands, while A'lar tried to follow her. Adalon would succeed in his quest for the key but his final leap to leave would fall short and he would fall once more into the nothingness landing with another thud back upon the bridge. Here the others seemed to be speaking with Lord Starborn, "Ismaril fell into the nothingness? Well she will be back im sure," he would offer in a rather non-chalant tone given the concern of the scales. Adalons clamorous return would perhaps ease their minds, "You must find 4 keys, open the causeway between her mind and the Speakers, then you must lead the Dream Stalker across the bridge into his mind, and close the door behind it, trapping it in the Speakers mind," he would continue.
Ismaril would find one last memory, tormenting her with failure and fear but she steeled her own mind and strode thru the cacophany of self doubt, gaining the last key, and arriving once more upon the bridge. A'lar too would step onto the bridge having lost Ismaril in his persuit, "Ah, there you are! Oh and Adalon as well, we are all here!" Sharing the news from her father, the scales set the 4 keys in place and made ready to open the part of her mind sealed off, to contain the Dream Stalker.
