Session 58: Great Scott, Future Allies New Friends Report
General Summary
With the research at hand completed, the Scales would set out for the Duchy of Evreux. The Gates of the Epoch would use his magic to teleport them to the mountain fortress city. This however did not quite go as planned. Adalon, Ayrien, and Indallel landed some 60-70 miles off target high in the mountains. They could atleast however see the fortress below. They would spend the next 4 days carefully picking their way down the snowy mountain top. Thankfully the gift of the magical yurt from Longwei proved most valuable to keeping all members of the group safe from the storms and cold. Ayrien foraged and hunted a small feast of mountain goat that lasted them the journey down the mountain. With only minor incident they were able to descend the snowy mountain to the Evereux fotress below.
A'ar, Ismaril, Longwei, and Sildenaer however were sent about 50 miles into the forest. As they marched west to find the Citadel, Ismaril would note campire smoke in the distance. Longwei would find evidence of a small company at march and would scout ahead. Finding a military camp established for the night he would careful spy upon them, however his amethyst hue would stand out in the snowy forest and one of the guards would challenge him. Shouting in an unfamiliar language Longwei would rise up raising his hands to avoid conflict. A sergent would eventually emerge who spoke Draconic. Putting fears to rest Longwei would explain they are traveling to Evereux. As the guards began to relax the rest of the scales in the forest would emerge causing crossbows to once more snap to the ready. This would draw one Sir Ian MacGregor to stride forth, a barrel of a man with thick armor and a large shield, "What is going on here!" he would shout to his men. A'lar would interupt speaking Atlyrian to them and explain their situation. They were brought next before a young Lord Nikoli Terekhov, who was leading this band. He offered the scales to travel together and to introduce them to his Liege Lord, Duke Devereux. This being amicable A'lar would deploy his magnificient mansion and allow the Terekhov men some respite from the winter cold. Arriving at the Evereux citdel a day before their commrades, they would be shown hospitality and learn that a Blue Dragon Clans retainers had been raiding and warring in this region. The Terekhovs were seeking a boon of their Lord, and the Duke thought to bolster their cause to offer advice to the Scales. "If you bring the head of their Commander, Lady Nihala Stormclaw to the Waywatchers of the Elves of the Eastern Wilds they may let you within their domains with fewer incident. As it Happens the Young Terekhov is seeking my boon and this is his task, perhaps two birds with one stone hmm?"
The scales would agree and depart with the Lord Terekhov and his retinue to attempt and ambush and destroy the Blue Dragon Warbands Winter Encampment. It would be three days journey to the north east but Ayrien would make short work of tracking them down. Longwei and Ayrien would scout the fortifcation finding a hastily constructed pallisade in a clearing made into the forest. Kobolds would venture out daily to clear and collect wood while Draconiens would stand guard. There were also several human slaves in cages that would be used for menial tasks about the camp. The Scales would devise a plan to strike the base in the early hours of the morning. Indalell would take the form of a kobold to gain entry to the camp, then would begin to set fires in the North West. As this began A'lar would teleport Ismaril, Longwei, himself, and the two Terekhov Knights into the camps center, while Ayrien, Sildenaer, and Bliss would assault the southern entrance. Lastly Adalon would sweep in on Thirhe from the west straffing the camp. With the plan set they waited for the appropriate hour.
Indalell made his approach with ease and was over the pallisade unnoticed. He would then go about to dousing a stack of supplies and large block of fire wood in oil before tossing an alchemists fire upon it. As this happened A'lar would arrive right on que and the Terekhov men would assault the gates as Adalon swooped low. The scene errupted into chaos as kobolds scrambled from tents attempting to douse the fires as Draconiens emerged from tents to find intruders in the camp center. Indalell and A'lar would unleash massive magical bombardments onto the north of camp downing several Draconiens before they knew what was happening. The Lady Nihala would duck out the back of her tent, as she cast a spell causing mirrored images of herself to appear. The Lord Terekhov would begin shouting commands that the scales responded to with ease, moving and flanking their enemies as Ismarils blade would pierce a Draconien with deadly precision. Sir Ian would shield his lord taking a powerful blow before resting a weapon from his foes hand. Longwei would attempt to follow the Lady Niahal then send a blast of Ki Power thru the back of her tent. Adalon would swoop over the west gate Thirhe's breath weapon causing several explosions as they dove to the camp center. The Terekhov men at arms would advance in good order engaging the South Gate guards while Ayrien provided covering fire and Sildenaer would use his psionic powers to boost all around him, his elven curve blade gleaming in the fray. Bliss would dart in her psionic blades cutting deep into a Draconien.
Indalell would descend into the Melee supporting Ismaril as a bolt of lightning crackled from the Lady Nihala. Ian once more pulling his lord out of the way to take the blast of the bolt, the Draconien commander next leveled a heavy blow upon him. his shield soaking much of the blow, before he would twist it, the blade stuck deep in the shield would be torn from the Draconiens grip. The Scales would circle up in the center and prepare to press their advantage as the dissoriented Kobolds began to grab spears from their tents, and the fire would rage in the North East.
