Session 6: Understanding thine Enemy Report
General Summary
Members of the group were beginning to arrive at the First Steps, some for supper others closer to the appointed time. After a meal, Adalon would look for a moment to find A'lar wishing to ask him about the earlier raid and the documents written in Gnomeish. Seeing him slip into the Temple portion of the establishment, Adalon would enter the small chapel to Emorath. Giving the proper respects he would then approach A'lar who was speaking to Ka'Varr the caretaker of the Chapel. Adalon would make his approach getting A'lars attention. "Do you know what happened to the documents from the hideout?", Adalon would ask, A'lar would give his usual smile "Yes" and watch Adalon expectantly. Already clearly annoyed Adalon would reply, "Alright, do you have them?" A'lar still with his chipper disposition "I do not" offering no further explanation. Adalon would sigh, "Then where are they?" "I have given them to a friend to study" A'lar would explain, or perhaps not explain. Adalon clearly agitated now "Who is your friend." A'lar would make a slightly wounded face "Ah well you see I can not say to that, but they should have some information for me soon." Adalon now most frustrated would begin to glow faintly as he attempted to reach into A'lars mind. "I will tell everyone what I find as soo..." A'lar would frown as he felt the intrusion and turn to a glare. "Get out" he would demand flatly "Get out, leave my establishment immediatly!" Adalon would frown and nod turning to leave with A'lar marching behind him quite fumming. As Adalon returned to Ayrien and collected their things to leave, A'lar would go and find Bliss his head of security and tell her Adalon was not to be allowed in for the next week.
Still quite upset, the remainder of the group would discuss the evenings plans, Ismaril felt her position as a foriegn guest and head of the Ambasadors guard was not fitting for her to attend a terrorist rally. Longwei also had his reservations of trying to pass as a dissident. A'lar decided to go on his own while Indalell was less discript on his own plans and slipped away after the meeting. Ayrien would return to find A'lar for a moment, and conveyed a message from Adalon that he wished to apologize. While A'lar was still quite heated, he agreed to speak with him tomorrow on the matter. With that A'lar set out for the meeting place disguised as a common field hand. His people moved thru the district and attempted to blend in and seem as tho they belonged, while A'lar and Bliss entered the meeting house. A tenament building, the second floor living space being used for this small rally. About 10 others had shown to hear what was to be said, an Amethyst half dragon would emerge from another room and give a somewhat compelling speech to their cause. A'lar in his disguise would pose question to the senseless violence and the innocent dead. While a few immediatly around him would agree, this seemed to mostly earn him hard looks. A half orc nearby would also nod and agree with A'lar. As the initial pitch and questions were answered, the Half Dragon who introduced herself as Celdraeth would ask that any not interested to please go now, and the rest to submit to a brief psionic scan to ensure there were not interlopers among them. Bliss would glance to A'lar and make her way out, 3 others joining her. As Celdraeth made her way to A'lar she would scan him and give a short nod, as she had with others, as she moved to the half orc next, A'lar felt this could not have gone well and moved to cast a spell discreetly.
One of the Basilisk members in the room however would take note "Hey he's casting something!" drawing a short blade and moving to stop him, he was too late, 4 guards burst thru the door to the stairwell and began shouting for everyone to surrender. The other Basilisk guards rushed to fight the guards while the meeting goers began to scream and panic. A'lar used this moment to rush past his illusionary guards, however the one who noticed him casting was in persuit. The Half Orc however, as Celdraeth turned to confront the mayehm, struck her over the head with a sap and scooped up her unconcious body. As the mayhem continued he dropped a smoke bomb, filling the room with thick black smoke. A'lar would not escape uscathed catching a sword cut across his side as he was rushing downstairs. There he would send the door guard up saying all hell had broken loose and met up with Bliss outside. The Basilisk fighter however who saw him cast and had cut him on his way out was in hot persuit. As Bliss would move to engage this man, A'lar attempted to bind him in his illusions, but having seen his magic work, they spell did not take hold. Sounds of fighting around them showed A'lars teams had not been as discreet as he had hoped. As Bliss and the man fought, the sounds of a window shattering overhead would be heard and suddenly the Half Orc appeared on the streets, carrying someone wrapped in a curtain. A'lar would blink as the orc gave him a wink and shouted "Time to Go!" Indalell disguised as this half orc took his prisoner and began to make his way out of the area. Fighting a withdrawing action, more of the terrorists were closing in. A'lar would attempt one more spell to distract them, and while more arriving Basilisk fighters would engage his new batch of illusionary guards, two others persued, Bliss being overwhelmed, they would attempt to flee, but A'lar covering them with one final spell would be cut down.
Indalell would arrive at the Starlight Embassy with his prisoner, having to explain who he was, Ismaril arriving in her night gown would be most annoyed with the interuption and the sudden "house guest" put into their care. Going to change clothes the Prisoner was taken to a room to be secured. Indalell would return to the Rats Market to find what had happened. There he would find several dead Basilisk members, and one of A'lars men, the guards explaining this looked like some gang turf war, Indalell would move on to the First Steps, where a Furious Bliss was fighting with Elenari about how to find A'lar. Learning of A'lars capture, Indalell would summon the rest of the group and ask Ismaril to interrogate the prisoner quickly to try and find his where abouts. As the others arrived at the First Steps, Adalons ban temporarily lifted given the circumstances, Celandil one of Ismarils guards would arrive in her stead. Indalell would seem annoyed "Where is Ismaril?" The Guard confused "Interogatting the prisoner?" with a sigh realising he had asked for two things, Indalell would send Celandil back to fetch Ismaril. As Indalell relayed his side of events, and the rest of the group was briefed by Bliss, Celandil would return holding up a King of Diamonds card, on it a basilisk, and the king missing its head "Someone just gave me this outside." Indalell would take the card then hand it to Adalon, concern on most their faces, they aggreed to wait till morning and see what Ismaril and the guard report of the incident would provide, and then figure out how to find A'lar before it was too late. Adalon, in the early hours of the Morning would attempt to reach A'lars dreams. Finding A'lar in the dreamscape he would relay a message, "Indalell suggests you offer the half dragon he kidnapped in exchange for yourself. We also have eyes on the Rat's Ward so if you are able to mark your location in any way visible from the streets or the sky, it would greatly help in identifying where you've been taken. Ismaril is leading the interrogation, and goddess willing, we are going to find you."
