Session 41: The Tressonar’s Turn (Syrgus) Report

General Summary

After the party’s departure for Illidost, Syrgus was presented with a veritable world of choices. Yet, he had to choose wisely against a growing sea of enemies.

He sent the Daughters westward to Amastris, seeking some accord with the Tressonar thereabouts. However, they returned around a week later with unpleasant news. They were unable to speak with the man because the party was there, including Xhaldarius. Approaching could have been suicide. Moreover, the party seemed quite well acquainted with the Tressonar. There were numerous warriors inside, among them were Odyrzid as well, which caused quite a measure of concern for Syrgus.

Syrgus decided to summon his banners, being those loyal to him in the northern and southeastern reaches of the country. In the distant east, Perthyon Berus and other Tressars or questionable loyalty were left to their devices at home. Within a few weeks a host of some 20,000 warriors was rallied along the border. Before leaving, he also sent word toward the Grestosi, informing them that a campaign was about to start and the coasts of Vallisia would be undefended.

In the meantime, Syrgus desired to gather knowledge on a rather obscure shred of historical material which was mentioned to him in passing. Somewhere in Demrazand were things called Voladûr, built by the Etayen during their colonization to empower Vojûn. Most were destroyed, but some yet remained among overgrowth and forgotten glades. Syrgus appealed to the Demhezzar, who agreed on terms that no warriors be brought in accompaniment into the Golbesh. Syrgus agreed. He travelled for 10 days southward until he reached the Voladûr in the Golbesh.

Once returned from Demrazand, Syrgus was assailed with news. Southwest of Illidost, the lower Viod of the defensive chain was utterly destroyed and left to ruin. Bodies were scattered about, but nobody remained to claim a victory. He also received word that Odyrzid Namadz were spilling over the northern frontier and causing havoc among the hamlets thereupon. Word arrived from the Grestosi. It was a small chest, girdled in iron. Inside was not a severed human remains, but an axe. What this meant exactly was concerningly unclear, but it meant something.

Confident of his chances for a swift campaign and victory, just as with Pyrgoros and Illidost, Syrgus departed to meet his host along the borderland.
