Session 47: The Final Negotiation Report

The dawn came upon Othos with Éshabal in the east. A negotiation was at hand. Syrgus desired to speak with Oselen Garlen and solve the question of arms with words instead- his personal specialty. The two parties prepared for the exchange amidst an air of tension. Warriors sharpened weapons and fastened armor with grim foreboding of the future.

Oselen, Orin, and Blackwolf setup a small hardwood table and chairs for sitting. Syrgus arrives with Cravin, Helmenal, Lytheron, and some wine. They speak at length on what is known to both of them. It appeared that the Eshan were a dire element in both their equations. Oselen despised the interventions of Ácolitus while Syrgus despised that and the other strange machinations which manifested in ominous messages.

Oselen pulled Orin aside to help determine some final course of attack. The dilemma was that Syrgus seemed reasonable and powerful, while the Vallisians were weak.

As Orin and Blackwolf departed to speak with Xhaldarius, Oselen turned to Syrgus. He offered the Third Son a last-minute ultimatum. The Nith’eshan and Judges would be called to the negotiation area and the surrounding troops rallied. Both parties would believe a battle was to occur. In reality, the overwhelming forces would destroy both the Nith’eshan and Sekras’kolura in one fell swoop. This would deal with all possible concerns and leave Othos open. Syrgus eagerly agreed.

Rather than risk the potential of being caught between two enemies, Xhaldarius chose to withdraw with his host of Judges. In covering his retreat, he called forth a Vojûnic shadow which rose from the ground among the negotiators and blinded everything around. This compelled Oselen to make the snap decision of siding with Syrgus and marching to hunt down the Sekras’kolura. Now the fate of Othos was more or less decided. Xhaldarius departed. Blackwolf left in frustration along with Orin. Only Calista and Cravin accompanied the armies eastward. This was the conclusion of gameplay for the campaign, and everything thereafter became part of the epilogue.
