Session 38: The Uncertain Future Report

Blackwolf gathers spades and men to begin burying the dead. 

Orin and Cravin recount their expedition to Illidost to Calista. They explain how Syrgus is not a terrible tyrant and that the Tarphry are indeed Aemar warriors. They are stronger and more experienced, but not some direct Eshanic race. Calista explains how her and Ballisar reasoned that Euboa isn’t the one behind Syrgus’ arrival in Othos. She tells them how Ballisar sold Cesstecia out. She also mentions how Othyrus has a wife and she is expecting children.

Calista argues that the Ebal’eshan and Nith’eshan intend to start a Second Feud. She recalls the words of Artem and Marasi to them, including the mention of Eshanic dynasties. Orin tells Calista about the battle in Illidost and their escape. Orin posits whether Euboa might be dead altogether, and that the person who stole her identity rules in her stead. They ask about the why behind the Eshan’s sudden desire to invade Qadal and cause a Second Feud.

They plan to head west to the Atamani camp, then up to Odyrzid lands or right to Varikon.

Calista steps over to Blackwolf and assists with the bodies while they talk. She tells Blackwolf about the Eshanic knowledge which they gathered and corroborated over time. Their plan is to potentially stop this Second Feud, take a stance in this upcoming war? They walk over the Xhaldarius to extend the plans. She asks about Nith’eshan and the creation of further Nith’eshan by Ebal’eshan in Voryndal. They posit the theory that somebody is pretending as Aebaster to create an army of Nith’eshan. Xhaldarius denies the idea of a Nith’eshanic army. Xhaldarius says that the sisters might have a better claim to Othos and Qadal than Syrgus, given that they might derive from Aebaster.

Xhaldarius points out that connection between Aebaster and Zelai, using his immense knowledge of Eshanic lore to fill the gaps yet missing. He uses this to potentially justify the approaching Second Feud? Blackwolf mentions that she has people coming up north (as ordered through the enigmatic Eshanic voice). Xhaldarius has people gathering, and they will move on their own. They continue to debate direction, speaking about Xhaldariu’s direction and the mission of Orin. Blackwolf has to go to Amastris, Xhaldarius to Vestidia, Orin to Varikon, and Calista to the Atamani camp in Vallisia. Orin eventually agrees to go to Amastris with everyone else in order to speak with the Vallisian Tressonara.

Calista reveals the plot that Cesstecia attempted to organize to kill the Vallisian Tressonara. She explains how they turned against it and sold her out.

Blackwolf gives Venon Menar the Dramana brooch of Ballisar.

Cravin paces off from the camp and looks to the Void. In a moment of desperation, he offers his ‘allegiance’ to Ácolitus and informs him that he possesses an ally in the party.

Orin and Blackwolf talk about the brutality of the battle and the hideous outcome. Orin asks Blackwolf about her apparent desire to travel to Amastris. She explains that she sent a message to her uncle in the Golbesh using “Corgastor’s” connections to make it work. Blackwolf resolves to stay in Othos with her people rather than possibly travel to Voryndal as inferred by the message.

Calista speaks with Xhaldarius about the whole Eshanic dynasty portion. She asks Xhaldarius what to do with Cesstecia’s letters, then hands over a dozen of them to him.
