Session XI : The Craven Report

General Summary

The party picks up after the final battle and head off after the Houndmaster, but they have missed him again. He killed a guard on his way out. Dru's men arrived in attempt to contain the situations but the Houndmaster and the individual who had the Craven's Cloak were able to escape.   The players returned to the inn and prepared themselves for meeting with Lady Gray. Several of their friends abandoned them to pursue various things. Kethra and Yandrea Twilightbrewer ate potatoes and blood sausage before heading to the meeting.   When they arrive at the palace they're led in immediately into the throne room where they meet Lady Gray who tells them about Commander Schaffa. She tells them that she learned that some dark force was looking to Schaffa and so she pursued him as well. It appeared that in addition to wanting to know who killed Schaffa they needed something else. They also appeared to want to find more of these demon eggs.   While Drucilla pursued the Houndmaster and the Mage, Lady Gray had a more pressing errand. She needed to have someone find the Craven's Cloak, whoever bought it no doubt intended to use it. Thankfully, the man who purchased it, used the weapon and left it at the scene identified him, Alyad Al Ja'leal. He was once a member of the very court, but had recently been disgraced.   She introduced them to a hill dwarf named Hurmir who was a craftsman who knew the family and had been invited to help on their quest. His long term goal is to create Hurmir's House of Pancakes or hHop.   When they arrived at Alyad's house they stealthed in through a servants door. Inside they find a meticulous garden but a disaster of a room which appears to have the rantings of a crazed man. Who wanted to kill his own father. Kethra touches a box in the room, one with a carved figure of a tentacle faced man and is teleported inside.   In the box Kethra sees a series of phantoms things that may have been memories of Alyad, including his father with a stone arm and a little gold bell. When he was ready to depart, Kethra was confronted by the creature on the front of the box who demanded a memory. Kethra told him the story of watching an accidental drowning but the creature warped the memory and Kethra left believing that he had killed the boy.   Hurmir and Yandrea had used sticks to pick up the box and were running with it to the house of the father, Lucious Al Ja'leal and Kethra pops out of the box and tells them about what he encountered.   At the house of Lucious Al Ja'leal they find a lawn full of petrified creatures, a stuffed basalisk and a bitter old man who is living forever. He knows that his son is coming to kill him.   While they are talking Alyad Al Ja'leal arrives with a small dog type creature and opens a hole in his chest 3 creatures disembodied heads with bats wings begin to flap and fly around the party - as the session concluded.
