Session 1: The Introduction: A Fall From Heaven Report
General Summary
The party, travelling on the Herald, realized they had an issue when Cid noticed a smell. That smell. A kind of smelly smell. A smelly smell that smells smelly. Faint yet disgusting. Being comparable to if rotten eggs and fish left in the sun for three days fell in love and had a baby. That is this smell. He had smelled this before, on the water planet of Govatar when he came in contact with the hyper aggressive troglodyte people. Soon after this, he heard hushed voices speaking in the harsh guttural language of the trogs. Alerting the party they jumped into action! Fog cloud, tripping two of the trogs, frairie fire was cast to give the locations of the trogs. A fight broke out from here. Quickly the trogs began attacking, a wall of fire shot up from the ships floor burning two of the trogs badly. The two that had fallen rose from their tumble and, in a panicked impulsive jump, leaped through the burning wall. The flames scorching their scaly skin. The trogs fought as best they could, obviously not expecting a fight like this. Hard blows went back and forth. Teeb, withholding nothing dealt tremendous damage. Fire raged around, burning the trogs. The party fought hard and violent to protect their valuable cargo. One of the trogs was wounded grievously, in an unsuccessful attempt one of the trogs tried to pull him from the fight. With a whisper from his wounded comrade, the other trog finished his brother. Two trogs leapt past the party braving the injuries they knew they'd receive. Rushing for the cargo containers, they were vaporized as they tried to open them. The smell of their burned flesh filled the room quickly. At seeing the blinding flash and their brothers disappearing the two remaining trogs resorted to a quick retreat. Over the course of this short fight, the intercoms announced that the ship was under attack and sustaining damage. Eventually an order to abandon ship was called out. Barely reaching their ship in time, the party made it to safety, to see the cargo bay ripped open and those unfortunate enough to not make it to safety were pulled out to an icy death. In a mad dash the party took off with a jolt! Flying hard they saw the guns of the Herald firing as fast as they could. Like a light show lasers filled space, in an unnatural silence the Herald took on a swarm of pirate ships. Escape pods were being picked off by pirates left and right. No mercy was to be found in this group. They fought with an odd ferocity. The party being trailed by one ship fired, one blast hitting with profound accuracy. Their fire was met by return fire. The pirate attempted to follow, but his ship couldn't keep up. The party getting away from the fight were able to jump to warp speed. In the middle of space, with now damaged shipping containers, they could hear screams and yells from the containers. Upon opening them they found 40 slaves. Both children and adults. They learned that they had been used to transport slaves to their new lives. Going against their job, they devised a plan to take the refugees to Kroter. Home to well armed and protected refugee camps, they would find safety and refuge here. Being a day and a half away, the party will have some time and worry of being found before they arrive. All that stands in their way of reaching safety is hundreds of thousands of miles of dark, dangerous space.
