Dr. Jubal's got into trouble again! Report

General Summary

After defeating Rogi and Thaddeus Zervous and the members of the cult in a battle in the The Livery in The Stop, the heroes plotted their next move.
Daien wanted to have the Owlbear eat the remains of the Vergouille, but Bramgrin, Akritas, and Felkur would have none of that. He then proposed that they have the owlbear eat Thaddeus and Rogi, and was again vetoed.
Daien observed that with Vonhilda , Eve St. Clair , Andros , Chef Bertram and Captain Remy Leduc turned into vargouilles, they had no evidence to clear Biff.
 
  After searching the room, they found Thaddeus Zervous spell book and in it a spell to create a slithering tracker. This was the evidence they needed to confirm that Biff was innocent.
  With that information, they went into the courtyard at The Waystation and explained to Biff and the locals what happened and provided the evidence they needed.
  There was much celebration and joy. Karl was made the new Captain of the Guard of the The Stop. The heroes were offered free room and board. The The Chateau , The Livery , Von's Trading House , and Merchant House was going to need new owners and management. Many of the local non-humans were excited at the employment opportunities.
  Karl declared that he wasn't going to stop fighting for La Resistance. Glenna Moonsmith, however, begged him to stop and leave that to other people. He had to protect The Stop from Hillsfar; others could try and overturn Hillsfar. 
  Owly, the Owlbear, decided to follow Felkur. Daien's attempt was so bad that Owly peed on him. 

  10 days later while the heroes were settled in, Karl, who is now known as Karl, not Charles, arrives and informs them that Bickleford “Biff” Bitterwood wants to meet them.
  Bickleford “Biff” Bitterwood informs them that Dr. Jubal's caravan was supposed to be in Hillpicket, but had not arrived and was found on a herder road that is used during the winter, not the summer. Only one wagon was found; the other nine are missing. No one has seen anyone, any carnie or Doctor Jubal since. Karl has cordoned off the area.

  Karl is obviously not happy with his new job, but he reveals that he is in love with Glenna Moonsmith and has decided that for her, he will abandon La Resistance and the cause.
  The heroes head out to the location of the wagon. Their investigation reveals that goblins ambushed the caravan 10 days ago. The goblin tracks and caravans headed out North. The one wagon that was left behind had nothing of value. Inside a barrel labeled PICKLES, Pickles, the halfing, was found. Pickles is a member of the two-person act, Pickles and Jam. Pickles will eat anything, and Jam will bite the head off of small animals and spit them at people. Pickles survived for ten days, eating pickles and pickle juice.
 

Pickles isn't thrilled to discover that his rescuers are the adventurers, given his criminal activity in the Stop 10 days ago, where he tried to trigger a riot so he could rob the locals. He quickly explains that Karl freed him when Dr. Jubal paid a small fee. He informs the heroes that the Carnival tried to leave, but it rained. His wagon fell into a ditch. Goblins attacked and surprisingly took prisoners instead of killing everyone. Dr Jubal went to fight, and his red eye was blazing. Pickles hid in the barrel, "I am an entertainer, not a fighter!" The goblins took the unconscious prisoners and the wagons north.
