Wolf that Sold the World Report

General Summary

The party confronted the Fire Giant engineer Herlaug Aasedottir and defeated both her and her goblin and hobgoblin minions. They even managed to take the battlebard who had fought alongside Ulrikke alive, who promised to answer their questions if they took him alive. While inside the Deeproot Fane, Gorm remembered that this was where he had been put to rest first, before being interred in the grave further south. Altsehash himself had come to honor Gorm and his fallen comrades-in-arms, though he did not see his commander, Sinéad, among the dead. Altsehash apologized to Gorm for the pain he would experience, and told him that there may be a way for him to redeem his heart and soul, but first Gorm had to help Sinéad. She is drowning, and will pull Gorm down with her to save herself.
Investigating the strange arcane drill, Friedrich and Elizabet discovered that this was obviously the handywork of their, respectively, hated nemesis and strange bedfellow Ulrikke Weisshof, and that she had created an Ingean Engine which allowed the quick and brutal extraction of energy from Firestone, at the cost of being very energy inefficient. The drillhead itself however was of Giant make, and carved with magical Fire Giant runes.
After this, the party returned to Grandal, guided through the Feywild by Goldmask. On their way home, the battlebard woke up, and the Loose Cannons decided to question him. He told them that his name was Haligraed of Cidamar, and that he was a mercenary currently under the employ of the fire giant duka Arngill "the Greater". He had worked on and off with fire giants in East Sceya, especially under baron Idun of Sólátt. He had also worked a good deal with Ulrikke Weisshof, and he told the party that he had seen an OSS paper in her tent, marking her as an agent of the Gold Metal Priests. He was willing to travel north and testify to the silver bishop, if the party were willing to pay him. The party paid him, and they departed amicably, with him travelling to Ravå to sleep off Fred's mean quarterstaff-swing.
The party spent the rest of the evening chatting with locals of Ravå and getting some well-deserved rest after a brutal day.
