Session 17: Troubled Bridge Over Water
General Summary
The wyvern swept in on Bolvaic on the rope bridge and the party began to fight it. The wyvern made several passes and Levi began to cross as Bolvaic continued to fight the creature. Bolvaic was able to cross to the opposite side and Levi rushed across with the last of the wolf cubs who had not crossed yet. As the wyvern attacked the group at the edge of the bridge, it was slain. However, as it fell, it snapped the bridge. Levi was able to hold onto the pup and the bridge and was able to climb to the opposite side. However, Kaal and Kulthath had not crossed the bridge and were left on the other side with the horses. Kulthath instructed Slink to continue to lead the party and Kaal said he would take the horses back to the League Headquarters. Slink led the party forward, leading them to a hidden dwarven entrance into the side of the mountain. She told the party that it is an out of use dwarven passage and it leads straight through the mountains to the other side and she began to lead the group inside. Once inside, Bolvaic confided in Illevaere that he was unimpressed at Jorrunde’s lack of joining the battle with the wyvern and he began to avoid the large woman who had caught his attention earlier. Slink led the party deeper into the dwarven tunnel, which just continued along a straight path. She stated that she knew of a good place to set camp and stopped at a secret door and led the party inside. Bolvaic recognized it as an old dwarven armory, but anything of value had long been stripped away. Air circulated through ventilation in the dwarven constructed room and the party made camp. During the night, the sound of scurrying could be heard by the party on the other side of the secret door, though the sounds seemed to be coming from creatures not much larger than a rat. During Levi’s watch, he was able to pick up the scent of dead flesh on the other side of the door. Levi also found that Wren was restless and that he felt the upcoming full moon and was concerned about his transformation. Levi settled him by curling up and sleeping against him. The party’s rest was uninterrupted and the sounds had dissipated by the morning. When Slink was made aware of the sounds, she seemed unconcerned. The party found that there were tracks left behind by the scurrying creatures in the dust and dirt in the hall, as it seemed as if a number of palm-sized creatures scurried past the room in the night. With the party rested, Slink continued to lead the party along the corridor, deeper through the dwarven passage.
