Session 62: Mystery in Veritas Report

General Summary

Peacekeepers Interrogation

Hallaster was dragged off to the Peacekeepers' Station in Trigolae where he was questioned by their leader, Chokosh Norjeon.    Chokosh spent some time questioning Hallaster about his reasons for being in Veritas and whether or not he was responsible for the murder. It largely seemed like they were clutching at straws in many ways.    He agreed that Hallaster would not be stopped from investigating, but there wouldn't be active cooperation between him and the Peacekeepers, rather it was more tacit consent with the caveat of not getting in each others' way.

Meeting the Locals

Meanwhile, back in the Grateful Champion, the rest of the party had made some new friends.    Three members of the Goldenglove got into an minor scrap with Ludovic, but were quickly sent packing with menaces.    Rami the Mouth, a friendly drunken hobgoblin made himself known to them, and they pushed him deep into his cups to a point that he made a significant fool of himself.    Culver Brent, another denizen of the barroom was trapped by the city's lockdown and currently drinking away his most recent earnings, hoping to be allowed to be able to leave on his girl (the ship the Untamed Dalliance) soon.

Hallaster's Family

The following day, Hal escorted the party to his family's residence where they met his mother, Jellia and father Barrum. They were both incredibly cordial and welcoming, but it became clear that Jellia had not visited Hal the previous day despite all the appearances.    They also informed the party that Terrant had had a scare when his family had been attacked by Darklings and, while he had managed to fend them off, he had been injured in the process.    They also said they'd be happy to make introductions or help the group in any way they could while they were in the city.

A Challenge

The group then decided the next port of call was the fighting ring, or where the fighting ring was usually set up.   On the Green was an open area where the ring was usually placed, however, with no fights currently going on the seating was not in evidence.    They they saw Krak, leader of the Krakand, an immense Hobgoblin warchief of prodigious strength. A formidable warrior who, according to myth, left the city as a one man warband seeking adventure and through proving his might he had attracted a significant force to follow under his banner.    Ludovic, seeing this huge slab of muscle decided he wanted to have a go, but only for money. As a result he issued a challenge to Krak, that, in a few days time, they would fight before a crowd and he would prove he was the stronger combatant.    The party now has time within Veritas to pursue their goals in whatever way they so choose.
