Session 9: The Sharp Tooth Reavers Report

General Summary

Battle with the Reavers

  • The party snuck into the mounds of the Reavers and found a room filled with unfinished carvings and paintings of animals and humanoids working in harmony.
  • There were also bones scattered across the floor and tracks of numerous Worgs who seemed to have moved through the room, heading into the entrance opposite.
  • The party moved forward and peered round the corner using Cash’s mirror to see what was going on.
  • They observed that there were large creatures in the room beyond, padding around.
  • They sent Thrack in first and charged on the surprised female Worgs.
  • The largest female, who they later knew to be Acseytan, the leader of these worgs, emerged and howled, terrifying Tarvy and Rukk.
  • A fight ensued in which Miadi killed one of the worgs and they retreated seemingly trying to protect something in the next room as an old elf-blooded woman emerged begging them to stop.
  • Acseytan also howled for them to stop saying that they had been paid by an “elephant man”

The Aftermath

  • The party stopped their assault, with Cash being willing to parlay with this woman and these creatures. You got a sense that the woman and cash were not wholly unfamiliar with each other.
  • As discussions ensued, Josmul dashed towards the woman, intending to arrest her in the name of the Chevaliers. Josmul explained that she was wanted in Bassonne for aiding and abetting in several murders across the city. Cash realised that this woman was Nix, who he had been searching for and her shape changed to one he knew well.
  • After much discussion and back and forth it was decided that:
  • Cash and Nix would return to Bassonne to try and deal with the Red Hands who had forced Nix to work for them.
  • Josmul would remain with the White Wolves as she still had an assignment to fulfil.
  • Acseytan and her pack (along with around 20 puppies) would accompany the White Wolves back to camp where they would testify whether or not Vasool had been the elephant in question. The White Wolves would also feed them in exchange for cooperation.

Departure and return to Thornguard

  • Once discussions concluded, and the party were about to set out, they saw Thrack just walk through one of the walls of the chamber. Rukk followed and also went straight through it.
  • Tarvy, Gortan and Cash all tried to follow but to no avail as the wall seemed as solid as any other in the chamber.
  • While inside Rukk found the body of a dead firbolg, who looked very old, magic seeming to have kept the body pristine.
  • Thrack found a note, but it seemed to be addressed to Rukk.
  • Shortly after Rukk emerged with an armful of items, a shield which he gave to Tarvy and Gloves which he gave to Gortan.
  • He also seemed somewhat in shock by what had transpired.
  • Before they departed, Acseytan presented Gortan with a piece of an old seeming blue banner depicting the hindquarters of some large beast.
  • The party then set off, making their way back to where they had left their cart, and, after camping for the night, made their way back to Thornguard camp, splitting off with Nix and Cash who headed back towards Bassonne and whatever the Red Hands had in store.
  • Upon returning to the camp they were met by Braaz who seemed surprised by the Worgs they brought with them but, when they did not attack, he approached and explained that, while they might like to see Vassool he was not here, and instead had set out a couple of days before, taking the whole of the Shag Pile with him.
