Session 30: Preparing the Keep Report

General Summary

Dreams and Visitors

As the party found their rest in the Keep, Tarvy and Hal were privy to an Ooze dream. The less said about that probably the better.   The following morning they found a bearded, leather clad halfling waiting for them in their throne room. He informed them, through his huge mess of beard, that his name was Willoughby Twobuckle and he was an informant on the behalf of Higgle's Memory.   He said that they probably had about 10 days before Berenger turned up with an army to kill them and any friends they had, he suggested that you look for friends in the woods, a Treant and some Goblins might provide some aid.   He also took some money from them and agreed to head down to Slowpass on their behalf and see if he could rustle up some mercenaries to help.

Back to Town

Gortan, Hal, Thrack and Polli made their way back to town and, after chatting with the Mayor, it was decided that the townsfolk would lend their weight to assisting in fixing up the keep for all of their benefits. He did say that they'd be prepared to fight, however, they were not seasoned warriors and would likely not bear up well to Berenger's men.   They then met with Father Belderone, a priest of the Lady in town, who said he could both reconsecrate the chapel in the castle and aid those of them afflicted by rapid ageing   They therefore brought him back to the castle and let him have a look at the chapel. The wraith within did not seem to trouble him especially and was not hostile to him. It therefore seemed clear enough, and he made a start on his work.

Negotiating Alliances

Meanwhile Rukk and Tarvy had made their way out into the swamps near the castle, looking for a treant. With the clever use of an animal messenger they were able to find it as well as some trollish footprints heading north.   They were able to speak with the treant who wasn't particularly happy to be disturbed. It told them to get rid of some hags living nearby, as well as maybe talk to the trolls.   They decided the hags would need the whole team, however, they could treat with the trolls themselves. The trolls were not the most intelligent and seemed to primarily be interested in food. They agreed to give them food daily.   Rukk and Gortan made their way into the woods a little later to pay visit to the goblins there. They were greeted by lightly armed goblin guards as well as a very curvaceous female goblin who explained that, while they'd like to help, her tribe were not exactly great warriors and they had their own problems with the Ogres nearby who kept destroying the trees they lived off.   The pair of them therefore agreed to deal with the ogres.
