Session 37: Sunder and Onward Report

General Summary

Return to Sunder

The party made their way swiftly back to Sunder, sharing knowledge of what they had discovered in the Sanctum. The knowledge of what might be the true names of the Father's dual aspects weighing particularly heavily on Tarvy.   On the way back they briefly dropped in on Bittergorge before pressing on, Oz agreeing to take them all the way in exchange for the promise of doing whatever future work he threw their way. He even threw the trip in for free, as an investment in future beneficial arrangements.

Domestic Bliss

Upon arriving in Sunder, the party found their party had arrived. For the rest of that day they spent time meeting and talking with various members of the Fulcrum.   Tarvy and Hal met with Horbane, a seemingly blind seer who sat atop the castle's one current tower. He told you his capabilities, and that he was happy to assist. They did not necessarily warm to him and were later confused when Itch mentioned that he hadn't thought he was blind.   Polli, Arela and Elias were all given wizarding lessons from their resident tutor, Hal, and Nadaar and Volaar were both given swordsmanship lessons from Tarvy.   In terms of new information about the happenings nearby, the news was:
  • Volaar and Nadaar tended to head off hunting during the day, at least in part to "Enjoy each other's company"
  • Bholin had moved into the kitchens and was preparing some delicious if questionable meals for those nearby Itch was helping and Elias being resident taster.
  • Wickan had been scouting in raven form and had seen various shadowy figures seemingly approaching the castle, however, he had not been able to pinpoint exactly where they went.
  • Shag had been vigorously working out and Thrack had been merrily painting.
  • Mrs Bucketlump and Harry had set up a bar serving booze to the assembled soldiers.
  • The Silver Kobold Legion had changed quite dramatically in the week or so the party had been away. They had seemingly undergone some sort of physical transformation as a result of their attunement to the Lady's Banner.
  • Their hide appeared to have grown thicker, bulkier, and their limbs thicker, with more muscle.
  • Their backs were much broader, thick protective scales protecting their core.
  • They generally seemed a bit calmer than previously, more disciplined and better able to serve as competent soldiers.
  • At the top of their backs were two larger, raised bulges, almost as if something bony were growing underneath, however, for the time being at least, the growth appears to have stopped.
The party made the decision that Harry Bucketlump was in need of some training, and therefore persuaded Mrs Bucketlump and Oz that he should go with Oz on the Sparrow Squall to learn a useful trade and toughen up a bit.   He, alongside Oz and the rest of the Goblin, Bugbear and Orc crew set off to the north, heading in the direction of Lubro. Oz promised he would be in touch.

Next Moves

After much discussion of what to do next, the party decided they had enough money to pay for the construction for a little while longer, and would, before the meeting with Gauvain, head to Carderby to attempt to find out what was going on and deal with Dominic Keller, the charming Inquisitor they had met previously.
