Session IX : Deeper Report

General Summary

The story began after the party had killed several of Explicita Defilus's Lieutenants. They worked their way through the rooms search as they went and Alduin unlocked a door to open a room belong to one of Safdee's students, Garath Primo. While Alduin and Belus were searching the rest of the rather posh rooms finding a spell of dragon breath, Lovelle, Safdee, and Grim explored another branch of the temple and there came across a murky pond where they were beset on by two giant frogs. The battle was quick, with Safdee and Lovelle dealing out damage and Grim finishing each of the creatures deftly. Safdee was irritated by a difficult to hit amphibian. When the party regrouped, Alduin noticed a hidden door across the way and the party was able to mage hand open an area with three chests. The chest had some minor gold and gems in them, but nothing of real significance. When they had explored the treasure room, they decided to take a long rest after barricading themselves in. During the interlude, Lovelle told a story about her house and how it had taken her too long in her life to realize her own privilege. There was an awkward moment where she claimed she had no friends growing up, but then Alduin piped in that he had always been her friend. Which she eventually acknowledged. Eight hours later they emerged from their hiding spot and made their way to a cave in. There they were able to dig themselves through the mud and murk and arrive on the other side. While they were there, Grim explored a crystal clear burial pool and Belus poked his toe at a puddle, wondering if he should detect magic. It was detect creature he should have done. The pool was not water, but a creature later known as a Slithering Tracker. It climbed up Belus shoving its ooze like body into his mouth and nose and hears, suffocating him. The party leapt into action, a hesitant Alduin appeared unsure of how to act, but ultimately tried to pull the ooze off his dragonborn friend's face while shouting for him to use his dragon breath. Safdee, however, commanded the creature to release and it dropped off Belus and onto the ground, being blasted by Lovelle's magic missiles. It was Grimogall Varangr  who came out of his pond, still dripping with water who leapt at the creature full of vengeance. He called upon Assuran and smote the creature.  Assuran smiled on him and granted exceptional destructive power to vanquish the foe.
