Session 4: Kobold's Cave Report

General Summary

Glondahl, Itembea, Overcom, and Hundega retreated from the cave and camped under the trees for they believed it was better to be in top strength if they were to find and help the merchant.   While sitting under a tree they saw a sun-dried body wrapped in a cocoon which put them on edge and causes them to move hastily as the sun was just about to set on the horizon. They made their way back to the previous intersection and found the kobold bodies had been moved but decided to go up the tunnel and found some unlocked doors to their left.    They looked in to find crates and barrels filled with food, cloth, and bones on the ground. Overcom checked them and confirmed they were indeed humanoid bones some belonging to humans, elves, gnomes, and even a dwarf. Hundega searched to see some recent tracks of a body being dragged back the opposite direction they had entered. They quickly moved down the tunnel and came to another door. Glondahl reached for the door and as he opened it an arrow shot out and stabbed him in his shoulder.   They quickly forced their way to see two kobolds donning armor and four female kobolds flinging stones at them. Glondahl rushed and using what little magic he had learned from Overcom cast a firebolt at the one kobold holding the bow. Hundega came up from behind and swung his sword at the Kobold wielding a greatsword, which would have been comical to look at if not for the dire situation he found himself in.    Itembea came up behind him and lept on the desk that the kobolds were using for cover and swung his fist down but the kobold with a bow was able to duck. Itembea used that momentum swung back around and crouched and was able to deliver two more blows ending the Kobold with a bow.    Overcom with renewed energy launch a volley of green magical darts of magic missile at the other kobolds using slings ending them before they had a chance to do anything. The Kobold with the greatsword dropped it and rushed over to the corner where the merchant lay and with broken common spoke at them. "Let me go, human die not." They understood if they let him go he would not kill the merchant they were sent to bring back. They agreed, but just as the Kobold was about to leave Overcom took his quarterstaff and tried to end the Kobold's life. He was unsuccessful and the Kobold yelled back as he ran down the hall "Me right, you not be trusted." He dashed out before the rest of the party had a chance to chase him down, but their attention was focused on the merchant.   He was barely breathing and looked close to death, which prompted them to head back immediately to the keep. They went out into the wilds at night hurring as fast as they could. Just as they saw the keep in the distance, they heard a wailing voice. They stood conflicted unsure of the crying sound but ultimately decided to check it out. They found a little girl who inbetween her tears and snot told them she got lost while playing, and that her mom lives in the woods somewhere but she can't remember where since it was so dark. They agreed to take her with them to the keep, and after a tense exchange with the guards, they were able to meet Richard the Chaste, the Priest of St. Cuthbert.    He allowed them in but since it was so late and nothing was open he let them stay in the chapel for the evening. He tended to their wounds and to the merchant. Richard saw that they were capable and asked for their help in investigating another cleric that was staying at the keep, a man called Theodoric Whiteveil who worshipped an earth god called Omberic. Richard does not trust him and would like it if they could find out more information on him and in exchange, he would gift them some healing potions and scrolls that would be useful to them. They agreed after they took care of some errands the following day.    The next morning Richard bid them farewell, as they took the merchant over to the guild where Orken paid them the 500 gp that they were owed. They then went around the keep buying supplies and headed on over to the Wizard's tower to pick up some additional magical items and scrolls before setting out for the next leg of their adventure.
