Session 5: Theodoric Whiteveil Report
General Summary
Finding rest after a long night the group awoke in the Chapel of St.Cuthbert feeling refreshed and revitalized. They left thanking the priest for the safe stay and left to investigate Whiteveil. The party went to the tavern, inn, and even asking the guards about Whiteveil and what they all thought about him. They learned that Whiteveil is highly respected by everyone, and unlike some other priests that have traveled through the keep doesn't overreach his faith to them. Whiteveil is well known in the keep for traveling through and usually bringing back with him a fair number of new followers on his return trip to the Stoneheart Monastery. They learned as well of the symbol of Omberic is the same symbol they had found in the Kobold's Cave. Outside of this small detail, there was little evidence that Whiteveil deserves the judgment from the priest of St.Cuthbert. They decided to talk with Whiteveil directly, to get a sense of his character. After an hour of speaking, they found little to distrust about him and he welcomed them to come to join him at the Stoneheart Monastery. They agreed if they came that way they would stay at his monastery, instead, they decided to head out into the wilds to explore some of the ruins to the east and investigate the area where the merchants were ambushed. They traveled due east through the woods and decided to spend the night on the open road. As they began to set up their camp they soon found their legs became stuck to the very ground and soon heard the chittering fangs of creatures in the trees. They soon saw descending down from the tree were giant spiders with dark brown shells, black eyes, and a white pattern that looked like a skull on its abdomen. Itemeba and Hunduga though stuck to the ground used their weapons to deadly accuracy to keep the spiders at bay. Meanwhile, another spider appeared and tried to entangle Overcom and Glondahl within its web. Glondahl ducked around the spider and with his sharp blade cut off the legs of the spider crippling its ability to move around. Overcom fired firebolt after firebolt into the creature's face until its eyes were falling off the melting skin of the creature. Itemeba channeled the power of the elements and with a sweeping kick launched fire from his feet causing the spider to kneel over. Hunduga took his own sword and lifted it above his head and plunged it down through the spider's head and kept his sword there until it stopped twitching. Exhausted they set up camp as they prepared for the next leg of their journey.
