Session 7 Report
General Summary
The party vandalizes the shrine to Nimbaloth, and Tristan fortunately saved on Phantom Killer. The party feels a weird fatigue, anxiety, and evil aura as the dark ascends on gauntlught. The walls are sweating and it feels cold and clammy. The party wants to rest for any future encounters, but they can't muster the will to shake the anxiety induced feeling to rest. They decide to head up into the top of the light house and they see the magical orb that is generated by the lighthouse. They attempt to detect magic and the orb absorbs the magic and appears to trigger a vampiric mist. the party with some lucky rolls sacks the creature. Once they kill the creature the light house explodes with activity and shines its light on the Otari graveyard. The party try to figure out how to shut the light down, but it absorbs any magic thrown at it and it disentegrates the bedroll they throw on top of it. After 5 min shining on the town the party hear the warhorn blown. Cowen and slade state that the town has never actually had to use that in their life time, but they know the sound. When they were teenagers they sounded the horn as a prank. The party head back to Otarri and are torn on whether to go to the guard barracks and the horn or to go to the graveyard. They go to the barracks first, and there are no guards. They all appear to be deployed. In the town, all of the town people are shut away in their homes. The party travels to the graveyard and they are met by Captain Longsaddle. He tells the party that the dead are rising and the guards have already killed about 15. He has instructed the guards to secure the perimeter and to barricade each exit. The guards are instructed to hold their position, but it would be great if the party would take care of the remaining creatures inside. The skeletons and zombies are spread out, and they make light work and pick them apart one by one. They spot in the center of the graveyard a fallen guard who is injured. Once they get close enough he calls out, and Geoff is the first to get to him to comfort him and cowen slays 2 of the remaining 3. The third turns his attention to the guard close to death and charges, but misses his attack. This would have been very bad should it have connected, and cowen meets the final skeleton to slay him. Almost immediately, the light house brightens, and summons in a scalathrax (the party don't know this; they need to do a check). The creature is stealthed when he appears and ambushes the party. He immedately sprays them with acid and just barely misses the injured guard. Tristan is very hurt, but gets off a large heal that heals everyone including the guard. The guard is grateful and joins the fray once he is healed. Tristan does go down after several more attacks. Slade revives Tristan and he is able to distance himself. The guard gets between the caster and the creatures and puts up some damage. Between Cowen and the guard they effectively take the creature down. Now that everyone is defeated the party awaits the guards and to talk to the captain.
