Chapter 2: Session 8 Report

General Summary

After defeating the Scalathrax, the party meets Jonas Clay. The guard they rescued and who assisted in felling the creature. He explains to the party that he was originially with two other guards, but they fled in fear. He killed 14 of the skeletons, but he went down while taking out the last one. The party, after collecting themselves, decide to head back to town, and they decide to rest the night at the Crook's nook. The party grabs dinner and drinks. Geoff, Tristan, and Kurama head to sleep early, and Slade and Cowen continue to drink. Slade finds himself in a bar fight. After several successful blows, Cowen grapples the combatant and tosses him out of the bar. After the nights entertainment, Cowen and Slade head to bed. Early the next morning, Sergeant Blakros comes to get the party on orders from Captain Longsaddle and Mayor Menhemes. The mayor is holding a city council meeting, and would like to summon the towns heroes. The party enters the meeting and immediately sense that tensions are very high. The party meet Carmen Rajana, who is critical of the party. He stokes the idea that the party were actually the ones who disturbed Gauntlight's slumber. The mayor defends the party, and Rajana storms out. The rest of the council meeting goes well, and the mayor offers to make you all members of the Old defunct organization, The Roseguard. The party is concerned at first of what strings might be attached to this offer. They ultimately decide to take the offer. They receive a tabard distinguishing them as Roseguard and a new base of operations that belonged to the ancient organization. The mayor ask the city guard they rescued the night before, Jonas Clay, to escort them to their new headquarters. On the way, he inquires on joining the Roseguard, and the party has their first member.
