Session 25: A Triumphant Return

General Summary

Upon finding themselves returned to the material plane along with Alex Tesla, Nakor and Kazagal began their journey back to Nova Aera to reconvene with their companions, unaware of how many days had passed since their jump. After a few day's trek, they returned to the giant city-state and parted ways with the Charioteer. When they finally reached the harbour they were met with the view of the Swift mermaid just about to depart. It turned out that 10 days had passed and Dormaruk and Jeanne had just about given up hope of their return. After a brief moment of exasperation on the captain's part, they reunited. It turned out that whilst they had been away, Dormaruk had spent his time letting off steam in tavern brawls across the long harbour. Jeanne on the other hand had returned to the library and spent her time finding out more about devils and had thusly managed to deduce that Gorick was in reality an Osilyth, or a bone devil. Information that may come in handy.    The Swift mermaid departed shortly thereafter, heading back to Ponvarus. During the trip, Kazagal and Jeanne talked extensively about what the goliath would do in order to keep to the hellknight's teachings and still be able to save his son. He even confronted Sir Horzin about it and found that hellknights had little in the sense of mortal attachments. A fact that troubled the goliath.    The party shortly arrived in the city of Ponvarus the next evening. There Kazagal and Nakor immediately went to the academy's library to try and find a use for their newly acquired soulstone. It was then they found the most knowledgable person on the subject was the cleric that had tipped Kazagal off to them in the first place back in Nova Aera. Not willing to travel back they went to find a magic shop that Jeanne had talked about where they might find the help they were looking for. Sadly it had closed for the night and they decided to return in the morning and instead went to the Gilded Mermaid.   In the meantime, Jeanne and Dormaruk had already gone to the gilded mermaid, where Jeanne was looking for more information on the slander that had been spread about her in town. She found out that these rumours had been spread by a figure matching the description of Gorick. In order to refute these rumours, Jeanne spread a new rumour claiming to be her own life partner and thus disproving the slander. To improve relations with the sailors and thus improve her credibility she followed the instructions of Dormaruk and spent a lot of money on alcohol for the tavern's guests.   The next day they were visited by a stranger who brought a message from Gorick inviting the goliath to a meeting that evening. After being scared into polymorphing the unknowing messenger, they decided to first visit the magic shop and the chancellery. In the magic shop Nakor and Kazagal met with the excentric Oswald Overhill who after some beating around the bush, promised to help them study the soulstone. They wrote up a contract that gave him a week to work on the object. As collateral, they were given a strange cube, with magical displacement properties. They were, however, not allowed to use it.    Thereafter, the party went to the chancellery, where they first had to do the initial contract and agreement signings before they fianlly made it into the office of Joruba. There they were also met with a familiar face. The face of Gorick.
