Session 7: The Town of Tides

General Summary

Upon entering the surprisingly low walls of Zarastil proper, the party decides to head down towards the Folksguards quarters to fulfil their mission. On the way there the group came upon a store known as Trader Joe's Extraordinary Relics and Artifacts, which was owned and run by the half-elf Joethandril. Kazagal couldn't resist the urge to enter, and Dormaruk and Nakor followed. Frances stayed outside. They looked at some stuff that the trader had gotten from some adventurers that had slain them and then left. Continuing down to the Folksguards quarters. Well there they were led into the office of Captain Magrom Flintbelch, a heavy set goliath. The friendly captain was grateful for the party report. He also told them a bit about the king and about a colourful ship crewed entirely by kobolds. Upon hearing that the king had ordered the White Sentinels that he had hired as bodyguards to kill the drake plaguing the northern road, Frances asked the captain to set up a meeting with the king. Magrom who did not like the king's attitude towards the soldiers agreed. This meeting would also allow them to discuss them killing the drake. He would send a guard with news of the meeting the following morning.   The party then headed over to Lodhires Scriptorium to get the sign, note and cloak translated for them. The mysterious elven proprietor quickly and magically managed to translate first the sign, which read:

Forest is in possession of the Aldoillithid tribe, seekers of sustenence go elsewhere
The second thing he translated was the note which was a bit more cryptic. It read:
Pain. Dont. Keep. Trust. Enslaved. "An untranslatble word for Leader"
When he finally started on the robe he quickly established that the runes on it were the remains of a warding spell that had held a disintegration spell. When he had finished he begun to tally down the cost of his services. Frances interrupted this process to ask for a book, a bestiary which the scribe did fetch for him. She picked out one named Aberrations and Dwellers of the Deep," written by the famed Volo. They then paid for both the translations and the book before heading back up to the harbour.   Back at the Port Ward the group split up and headed to deal with their own business. Dormaruk headed down to the now lowered port and managed to find a ship that he had previously worked on, set beside the colourful ship that Flintbelch mentioned. There he found several old friends of his as well as work for the day. Thus The minotaur spent the rest of the day working on the ship the Burning Sails.   Frances on the other hand headed down to the Frankonian trade base. There she managed to get in contact with the main representative of the Merandure house, who handled the contract between the White Sentinel sections and the royal court. Upon hearing of the five dead soldiers found inside the drake. The representative named Rapopoux, agreed with Frances that her section should be released from their contract. He insisted on wanting to join the meeting that was to be held the following day. Content with the support, Frances left for the inn where they would stay for the night. There she sat down and begun to play dice with a pair of dwarves.   Nakor and Kazagal instead went back along the port down to the famous Deep Market. There they too split up on Kazagals behest. Kazagal went alone down to The Serpents Oils and Elixirs. There he met the owner, a female triton alchemist named Hera. Kazagal inquired about the possibility of buying a memory restoring potion for Nakor. However, because of the severity of his amnesia, it would take up to 7 days and 800 gold to create such a potion. Kazagal was hesitant but agreed. He then left to meet back up with Nakor. Nakor had gone to the store known as The Nagas Magical Oddities, which was run by an actual naga. The creature was known as Eliondormarunakkres, or Elion for short. Nakor buys a couple of glowing chrystals and looks at some magical items. They share drinks to celebrate the sale, which consisted of red wine of the nagas own creation. The man and the goliath then met back up and left for the Sour Barracuda where they were supposed to stay.   When they arrived they found Frances and the dwarves and decided to join them. As the night went on more people arrived at the inn and after a while, Dormaruk followed by his former crewmates. The Captain Pryter who was a human, Brad the vanaran, Chadwick the tiefling, Jörthur the goliath, Blink and Clink the goblins. Behind them followed the rest of the crew. They joined the rest of the party after buying ale for the entire crew from the elven innkeeper Argor, whom he knew personally.   After having a merry old time for a long while, Dormaruk managed to spot another familiar face. Flynn the orc, a crewmember on the Pitched Wanker. He immediately grabbed the stone chair, went over to Argor and paid him a gold in advance. Argor gave the minotaur a pleading look as he already knew what was about go down. Dormaruk paid him another gold and the innkeeper called his daughter away from the area. Dormaruk along with his former crewmates, minus the captain who had already drunk himself to sleep, walked straight over the Flynn and his orc friends. The rest of the party did not walk with him, but still prepared themselves for combat. Dormaruk walked straight up to Flynn and hit him in the head with the chair. The orcs rose to their feet and Flynn looked at his assailant. He recognized Dormaruk, threatened him and readied his axe. Then a fight broke out.
