Session 28: The Decendants Betrayal
General Summary
Waking up to yet another day docked in the port of Ponvarus, the party gathered themselves. Kazagal talked to Nakor about the fact that his son had searched for him the night before. Soon thereafter they departed to perform a few tasks before their scheduled meeting with the Golden Inquisition. These included retreiving the brooches Jeanne had ordered. Nakor then ordered one for himself as well. They then made their way to a buzzing Lions Circlet, which was the headquarters of the Golden Inquisition. Upon entering they were shown to a room where the Exactor Calixte Durand was waiting for them. He informed them that the chaos in their tower was due to the fact that they were currently on the hunt for Gorick due to the fact that after Kazagal and the devil's duel, they had lost all the agents that were sent to observe the event. All were found decapitated. Thus they were now busy conducting a thorough investigation into the devil's network. This meant there was currently little help they could offer the party. But pleasantries were exchanged and promises of friendly cooperation were made. After this meeting, the party went out for a drink before all heading back to the ship to sleep. They realized that they still had to spend another 3 nights in the city before they could retrieve the soulstone from the halfling who was researching it. During the night Nakor was awoken by Timmy who needed to talk about his experiences again, and the prince listened. The next day was spent fulfilling a smaller contract the group had picked up in the Sovereigns End. A request to rid the waters south of Ponvarus from Gillblins, a watery mutation of Goblins. With their diving ship, this was an easy task, and at the end of the day, they found themselves 500 gold richer. The following day, the party split up for their own activities. Nakor and Jeanne went on to set up some meetings with important people, where Nakor expressed a desire to network with those looking for a change of rule and foreign relations in Kang. Kazagal went to look for Sir Horzin but to no avail. The Captain prepared his ship for the journey ahead. During the final night before the soulstone could be retrieved, Nakor was once again awoken by Timmy who this time came with a request. He wished for the prince to come with him to his and his friend's former home. The prince agreed, but was also suspicious and telepathically asked Kazagal to follow them. The following morning the prince and Timmy walked towards the State Academy. Kazagal convinced Jeanne and Dormaruk to also come with them. The pair walked down into a dusty cellar apartment. Kazagal and Dormaruk discussed whether or not they should go down as well, and Jeanne was about to leave when they heard the door lock. Nakor who after a while decided to help the boy clean had walked over to the end of the room when he heard the door lock. He looked over and saw Timmy, but changed. His skin was orange, his hair black, his eyes darkened, and horns protruded from his forehead. The prince quickly contacted Kazagal and told him to come. Meanwhile, Timmy began to speak. He explained that he and his friend, whilst they had been gone for about a month, had actually been in hell for 25 years. There they had been tortured and Gorick had shown him how Kazagal had traveled far and wide to make sure his own soul couldn't be taken. Thus Timmy had made deal with Gorick to end the torture. He and his friends would kill Nakor. The three friends then appeared. Kork the half-orc on one side and Delog Distantfall the half-elf, who now looked like a purple tiefling, on the other side of the room. Behind him, stabbing him in the back with a poisoned dagger, was the gnome Wilcome Shorthalt. That's when a large bang could be heard as the minotaur charged the door, leaving two small holes. Unprepared to be interrupted the group scrambled to finish their task. As Kazagal smashed the door open with his hammer and ran to his son, Kork charged the prince and sunk his axe into the man's chest. Nakor fell dying to the floor. The rest of the party entered the room as Delog sent a fiery explosion their way before creating a wall of fire in the way of Jeanne and Dormaruk. They did, however, make it through, and attacked the devilish crew. After Timmy had struck Dormaruk and himself with a pair of summoned fiery scimitars, Kazagal ran to the princes aid and used a syringe filled with divine and strange magic on the magic man. Nakor awoke, with the wound in his chest closed. Enraged by the attempt on his life and seeing his friends fighting a desperate battle were Jeanne suddenly fell, having all liquid and life drained from her by Delog, Nakor casted a spell silently, hiding his actions behind his back. This to prevent his two devilish adversaries from countering his spell. He transformed into a large redskinned, chained-covered devil. This seemed to bring terror to their foes and two of them tried to escape. The fight went on and in the end, they managed to defeat Delog and Wilcome, who didn't die, but were rather dragged back down to hell against their will. Timmy, who was the last to escape had turned into smoke and disappeared into a small crack in the wall. But before he left he exchanged a few words with his father and the rest of the party. He explained that this was far from over, and that his father had never truly won. As the light behind the wall faded Nakor yelled after his assailant:
You think you escaped hell? I will show you hell!
