The year is 2847 CE and the Settled Heavens is in disarray. The United Terran Republic, once the sole government that unified humanity, shattered into hundreds of squabbling colonies and military powers. Though the UTR has reunited with many of its colonies, it is but a shadow of its former self. Corruption, propaganda, and corporate greed have infested the Settled Heavens, and the UTR isn't the only victim. Megacorporations rule the many star systems of the Settled Heavens with an iron fist. Alpha Star Industries, S.C. Bio-Dyne, Damian & Roe Inc., and VulcanCorp are just some of the largest, their corporate might alone is comparable to entire nations. Moral decay and a desire for power have trickled down from the top all the way down to the bottom. Ruthless crime syndicates and violent gangs run amock in the nearly endless expanse of urban sprawl across planets.
