Nomen Infernale XV: As Vinegar Upon Nitre

Having struck at the lead brown jelly with his torch, the jelly instinctively lashed back at Nuruhotep, narrowly missing the Keb. Alexandru lights Riven's arrow as she pulls her bow taught. Elissa moves back toward the entry to explain the situation and guard their rear as the party has choked the jelly in a rather narrow space. Riven fires her nocked arrow but misses; she calculates the difference and factors in the added weight of bandaging and knows she will do better on the next shot. The largest of the jellies absorbs one of the smaller ones as it makes its way toward the party. Asbjørn hopes that the magical blade, Lullabyr, will be able to harm the jelly when mundane blades could not, but in testing this theory one jelly became four more. Teleptyon sends a bolt of Ar toward the largest jelly. Kegho calls for the mass of the party to move back so that Kegho and Asbjørn can pick away at the jellies as they move down the hallway. Asbørn sets his shield to help block the way.

Nuru and Kegho beat back jelly after jelly as the mighty Asbjørn held fast against the onslaught of caustic pseudopod strikes. Riven rained fire on them from behind, and Brother Theophilus launched flasks of oil to help accelerate the situation and healed Asbjørn of the burns he sustained when a pseudopod slipped through his defenses. In the end Nuru had killed three, Teleptyon had killed two, and Riven had killed one. And a last jelly had slipped back down the hallway. Kegho indicated that he would go own the hall and exterminate the last of them lest more return. Alex and Riven follow him down, seeing alcove after alcove of twisted remains. Wary of past experiences with the dead rising, Alex used his staff to check the first corpse but is fairly certain it is permanently dead. He mutters prayers to Bennos as he continues down the hall after Kegho’s long strides.

Kegho catches up to the last jelly and Nuru and Asbjørn run down the hall after him hearing battle commence. Riven Nuru and Asbjørn attempt to kill it but Kegho is eventually successful. On a hunch Alex asks Nuru to help him search for secret passages out of the dead-ended hallway, but they exhaust the places to search and move back to the doorway to regroup before heading back toward the chamber with the Solifugim.
