Esterson Session 17

General Summary

Decided to brave the Western Wastes, have you? I can only deter you so much from going to that wretched place. An effort to find the parents of Antharine and Anthell is respectable but I fear what has become of them as indentured servants to one of the few inferiin households. Not to mention that this insight was bestowed by a vician, nonetheless.

My best guess is that House Palran are the ones who have our Candescents’ parents. They are the newest and weakest of the households. Schemes and dirty tricks are what they use to accumulate enough power in order to “better match in strength” as inferiin put it. I hope you are ready for a whole new repugnant world because you will see why I left it.

Before Heading Out

A Kindly Visit

Albert Mayhew met up with Maedhros once more. This time, to report his findings.

For Maedhros’ Eyes Only

I must say, my good man, that getting all of this information to you has me shaken. So many things to take into consideration both for you and the internal Kingdom’s wellbeing! Regardless, here are my findings:

At first I had inquired about Iala’s husband during more of Farbridge’s gatherings along with other proceedings about the orc troubles up north as well Cardinal Marner’s concerns in Dulnmoor. I managed to uncover that, in fact, Iala was in love with one of Dundragon’s children, Lurren, youngest of his sons! Apparently dear Iala had argued with her couriers about leaving her public life behind after what had happened to Lurren.

With that, I figured it would suffice at first but your blether came up to me about asking of Levander, a student from the Academy. I wish that name wasn’t mentioned, for when I had begun digging, I found only answers I wish I hadn’t known. When I first asked those involved with him, I found it strange they insisted the investigation was over and to leave the topic be. I assured them I had no ill intention and was simple curiosity.

When I eased their nerves, caels have mercy! Levander’s family line, the Hethralkiir, were slowly becoming destitute as the parents drew away to satiate strange addictions and their craftsmanship line coming to a halt as a result. Levander grew up in a pitiable household with very few elven friends still around who now try to deny ever knowing him. When sent to the Civarion Academy, it’s believed his parents wanted him to become something more than they were. Though, nothing ever goes as plan, does it? He struggled quite a lot fitting in but Iala showed him the compassion he needed most of all. Apparently the two got along very well, though, Levander more so than her, unfortunately. It was their graduation party that Levander had hoped to confess his feelings for her, the future the two would have together as couriers, and they would be happily after that.

Of course, plans never go accordingly. Lurren Dundragon had won her heart first and poor Levander’s future, ambition, and willpower had tarnished. So, from what Levander’s former friends had told me, he sought out darker powers that would listen, for he believed that the caels would just pity him and get better at being alone, which, I hate saying, is not a poor assumption. Rumors suggest he performed a dark ritual to curse Lurren, which would explain the odd turn of mood he had where he was constantly dour, for he had told Iala that he was out combating an impressive foe for the Knights of Hearth. Apparently all the fighting had made him fatigued and burdened to death.

A handful of nobility looked to her on what would happen next. I suppose it was Lurren’s final month that she wanted to go into solitude. Around this time, Levander would be reported as missing with no clues to suggest where he had gone. At most, his old dorm was burned. In the end, Iala hasn’t sent a letter to the castle of her wellbeing, Lurren has passed on, and Levander is still missing.

Well, with all this digging, you’ve had me come to discover far more than I would have liked. Though, we must always confront realities before they overtake us by surprise.

In the Morning

The party woke up very early in the morning to Anthell and Antharine heading off. Investigating their odd shenanigans, the party found that they were rehearsing how to persuade Sullus to provide aid in the search for their parents.

After that, the party met with the others at breakfast time in the dining hall. They discussed what sort of approach would be best when walking into the Town of Dakarran. For the party would be in the Western Wastes, far from any Revered aid. The decided to be Elema’s guests under the name of House Sarter in order to gain audience with House Palran.

A member of the Candescent came to the Hall and informed the party that Sullus wishes to see them. Supposedly a vician came to their master to inform him about the circumstance of Anthell and Antharine’s parents. Sullus wished to confirm the nature of his story through the party and what was to be done with him.

Journeying on to the Western Wastes

Luminous Monastery

On arrival to the famed monastery, the party entered into Sullus’ chamber to discuss about Gavaln, the apprentice to Setesk. The party assured Sullus that Gavaln had been helpful in their missions to undermine Setesk’s operations.

The next question became aiding their mission to rescuing Anthell and Antharine’s parents. Sullus was convinced to provide a little bit of aid by sending watchful agents. They were to only be of assistance if matters got out of control. With that, the party headed out.

Town of Dakarran

Heading, the party went for House Palran’s fortress. Outside, there was a carriage led by two skeletal horses. It would appear another came to visit the inferiin Patriarch. Requesting audience, the current meeting Patriarch Kalleern was in got put on hold as the party waited. Reaving was the special appointee. Both the party and Reaving kept the plans for the Patriarch vague.

Once summoned inside, the party met with Akert and Kalleern Palran at last. The inferiin were stubborn about releasing Erelor and Theeda, for the two were favorite servants for their efficiency compared to the rest. The reluctantly agreed to release the parents under the notion that they would not serve under any other Household. By the party agreeing to such a thing made Kalleern curious to such an unorthodox thing to pay off the 400 sum debt out of charity, especially under the name of House Sarter.

The party also wondered about his appointment with Reaving. He boasted it was the possibility to obtain help from the other. The two of them were negotiating terms of their cooperation. Once the two factions split, Reaving entered to resume their discussion.

Now then, Patriarch, about a deal for a Bloated Tree…

Returning Home

Bloated Tree

On the way out of the city, the party saw an eerie sight of a disfigured and wide tree that sat alone fairly deep within a grove. Incoherent whispers of spirits made the matter more uncomfortable.

The party decided to leave it be. They had Anthell and Antharine’s parents.

Luminous Monastery

The party returned to the Luminous Monastery. Through their parents, they discovered their real names. Antharine was named Avelise and Anthell would be Aelen.

Anthell and Antharine helped to get their true parents situated and comfortable with the village nearby. The party then headed in, resting up.

Johan found a class where a disciple was teaching students how to design their mask. He wanted to help, showcasing the use of glass and leather for such masks.

Altor found Anthell alone at a lakeside. There, the monk was reminiscing about the day he and Jera had called one mother, the other her son. Altor gave him a brief pep talk.

Maedhros had simply went to the guest rooms to relax. There, Antharine stepped in, checking up on him. Maedhros then revealed a rather important matter to her…

Back at Esterson Hall

On their return, Adjutor Crombey, rushed in to the Guild Hall to request the Hall’s aid in a rather critical moment coming down south in Dulnmoor. There, scouts and caels had noticed an unnerving amount of roden and undead getting close to the temple.

Within the dining hall, the party heard an argument being had. Busting down the door, they found the Savvy Strays were bickering about how they fell apart when Evantil was believed dead.

With a good cluster of the hall being present, Maedhros decided to bring the hall together for an announcement. Welma was quick to send Festus to bring back Albert Mayhew, who made a visit to the Hall. Once everyone had settled, Maedhros mentioned to everyone that he certainly is a descendant of the Dundragon family line.

This news had made Johan rather uneasy, who had to step out. He took the letter for the mad Settendorf and headed off for Kalgarim.

Maedhros and Mr. Mayhew insisted that he was only descended. Both of them had only recently discovered this after digging for this information. Maedhros had thought that there was a peculiar resemblance he had to Amelia and coordinated with Mayhew on the matter. Among the bloodline, Maedhros’ father is Lurren Dundragon, grandson to Evendur Dundragon.

What remains now is the matter of Johan heading off and the potential crisis down in Dulnmoor.
