Session 10: Brokering a New Deal Report

General Summary

Party is in the ex-Lentis colony. Viktor Alabastor arrived in a covered carriage with a beautiful woman and a large, tribally dressed Nevanese man. He carries a wooden shield, and is covered in various tattoos and furs. He also has a belt of shark skin, and wear necklaces of sharks’ teeth and jade. Ka’hran Otom’ana is the native man’s name- a skilled warrior. He is from Moaru’nagaru. One of the advisors is Solansa the Red, the woman; the man is Grald the Wolf. They are expected to establish trade between the Continental Confederacy and Isle Mercantile Federation. Alabastor says that the company can either help clear trade routes, or to create a security ‘salient’ that other guilds can lean upon. He also said to find a man named Illis Turner, who is undercutting profits. He also says to check the warehouse of Baymouth Landing.

The story of Ka’hran is that he was to be the Shaman of his tribe, but an opposing faction attempted to undermine him. Viktor stepped in with interest and bailed the young tribal ruler out from destruction. Therefore, Ka’hran owed him a favor. Viktor took him to Graeven to work with the company as a form of repayment.

Drayton speaks with Solansa and Grald in order to work out some type of strategy. Grald suggests a plan where the Graeven Company goes undercover and takes over trade routes in the Continental Confederacy. This is because they are apparently weak and vulnerable. Drayton is skeptical of this, however, and what this might mean for the company. Viktor could simply be using them as ‘fall guys’. He then speaks with Solansa, who explains the diplomatic route of working with the Continental Confederacy to fight brigandry and lawlessness. Drayton accepts the idea of this plan, but offers an alternative. He says that it would be wiser to simply say that the Graeven Company, rather than IMF, was behind the protection. People would owe the company favors, but it would be a more effective proxy. She agrees, and Drayton suggests she returns to Alabastor with the news.

Rus comes over and speaks with Drayton. He offers the latest news on the company. The Graeven Company has 20 trained men and 10 untrained me. They divide up into two companies. Rus goes with 10 trained men to complete some contracts. Party goes to Baymouth landing with 5 trained, 5 untrained. An additional 5 trained and 5 untrained stay behind in settlement.
