Session 18: Upscaled Stakes

General Summary

The party greeted each other as they found themselves gathered once again, now in the basement of Talia Orems Inn. They shared what they had learned. It turned out that Aurora, having trained in the art of hunting dragons in her youth, felt a bit iffy about socializing with these creatures. Thus, she and Apieros spent the day looking for more information on the dragon living in the Dragonfen. When they found out that the innkeeper also was a servant of the Green Dragon, Aurora engaged with her. Through her, they learned that the green dragon known as Aeteperax, wished to insert himself into the court of the Scaelorian King, from where he could work to undermine the current king. In an attempt to earn their trust, thinking them fellow servants of the dragon, Talia gifted Aurora with a longbow she had stolen from the Dracuine Scultoti.   Just at that moment, one of the large paintings opened up and the rest of the party entered. After they had shared what they had learned during their time apart, they decided on what to do next. Realizing that there might be an issue with the Dracuine Scultoti, they decided to leave town and try to make it to Freywharf in search of the dwarves of the Aeducan clan. Despite the hesitation of Aurora and Julian. As they tried to search for a way to exit the inn without being seen, they finally managed to find a backdoor from which they escaped. After making their way around to the front of the inn they found that there had already been wanted posters put up with their names and likeness on them. Thus they decided to leave Belham as soon as possible. To do so they decided to get some for of transportation, since their horses were left in Folkenfort.    That was when Trinky saw a cart loaded with clothes and fabrics. Some of which was familiar. It turned out that the tailor Donric Soorey, with the money from Trinky's dress, had finally been able to afford a new store in the capital. He was now in the process of moving there with some of his workers and had all his belongings loaded on two carts. When he saw Trinky in the guise of Sally, he lit up with excitement. He told her how he owed her a lifetime of debt. She then told him of their predicament and he gladly agreed to help. After tying Julian's horse, along with the disguised Bork to the carts and hiding the rest of the party on them, they took off. At the bridge they were stopped by the Drcuine Scultoti, who insisted on searching the cart. Just as he was about to do so, a bell rang and the town screamed: "DRAGON!!!"   The party saw their opportunity and left. This was apparently the distraction Aeteperax had talked about. As they managed to put some distance between themselves and the town, they started to reconsider their agreement. Were they willing to work for a being that viewed this kind of mass murder a "distraction". Despite Ravojhan insisting that the dragons would make for powerful allies. The doubts were too many for Trinky and Quinumo, who now sided with Aurora and Julian. Thus they decided to not travel to Freywharf, but rather stop in Oakenhold to search its magical library for information on the broken eye, in order to find the last piece. After travelling all night and stopping once to do some makeovers, beautifully made by the eccentric tailor.    When they were almost within viewing distance of Oakenhold, they found a strange sign pointing to a supposed party. This intrigued the group and they left the tailors caravan to see what it was all about. After a few minutes of walking, they reached a small valley where a group of dryads and satyrs were dancing with humans, elves and halflings. Trinky immediately joined the celebrations with Julian. The others tried to approach a heavy set satyr to ask about this strange celebration but were interrupted by dryads and satyrs, trying to charm them away. Especially Quinumo who was completely enamoroud by the dryad. All except Ravojhan joined the dancing, and he even noticed the sly fey charms they attempted to cast. He confronted the fat satyr, who told him that this was merely a party for the party's sake. A fun time for no reason. After sharing a drink, Ravojhan turned back and noticed that satyrs and dryads were all trying to pair themselves up with the mortals.    The dragonborn got paranoid and tried to pry his friends away, to no avail. Aurora and Apieros however, actually believed him. After a failed attempt to alert Julian by physically lifting Trinky away, the goblin was furious and distraught over the lifting. She wished to find Quinumo, but he was out of sight at this point. Julian and Trinky managed to find him a bit away from the celebrations, in a clearing filled with lovemaking. Trinky was traumatized and Julian managed to realize that this party was a mating ritual for the fey, as they can't mate without mortal interference. They left their friend alone. During this process, Quinumo became overtaken by the charms of the dryad and blacked out.    The group eventually left the celebration, starting with Ravojhan and Apieros, to sleep on a nearby hill. The next morning they awoke well-rested only to notice that the fey had vanished. Quinumo on the other hand awoke naked, most of his belongings spread out around him. Although he soon found that some were missing. Like his gold, his Ring of Drowning, and most importantly The Broken Eye. In shame he wandered out of the bushes towards his friends, only to tell them that the mystical artefact they had been working to fix, had been stolen from them.
