Session 6: The Fort of the People

General Summary

The party awoke in the Stool and Spirit, with Aurora finding a note from the Silvestra Numina. It told her that they could all be pardoned if they handed over the Broken Eye, which they immediately decide to not do. They then decide that all the guys need to bathe because they all smelled like booze and puke. The girls went down to get breakfast. Aurora went to sit with Salakor and his gang, who were one man short as one of the twins was missing. Trinky walked over to the gnomes who she had talked to the night before, but they were fast asleep in a couple of armchairs.   The guys went into the bathroom, drew a bath and got in one by one. Quinumo first, followed by Ravojhan, and lastly Kleech who bathed like a bird and flapped his wings wildly. He then left without drying neither the floor nor himself. When he came down to the rest they were all standing around Salakors table asking about Jorhas wound on his face, which apparently was a symptom of a really rough night. Scruffy immediately gave them all a tired look and began to clean up after Kleech. The party then left for the fort.   When they arrived they were greeted by the same guard who had brought Quinumos parents the day before. The guard led them through the fort and up to the grand captain Malkyn deGrey. On the way, they realised why no one has ever been able to escape the keep. As soon as they entered they were hit by a strange feeling of confusion, as well as a total lack of perception of time and distance. The strange magic had made it impossible to navigate the keep without a guide.    During the meeting with the grand captain, they were told that Quinumos parents had been sentenced for manslaughter by the king himself. Realizing that getting the sentence revoked might be impossible, they instead looked for details about the fort. They noticed that Malkyn, as she talked about the futility of trying to escape, touched an amulet that all the guards were wearing. They realized this may be the key to be able to navigate the keep. The group followed the guard out, and as they were leaving he expressed his condolences to Quinumo.    The party, unsure of how to proceed, headed to the stables. There they met the tough-looking human woman named Iola. There they bought 3 horses, shared between them. They then headed back to the Stool and Spirit to tell Salakor that they will be leaving them as they won't be able to leave that day since they have now decided to try and break Quinumos parents out of the Folkenfort. When they entered Jorhin had rejoined them at their table. He seemed to have gotten more claw marks than Jorhas, whose wounds had now turned into a scar. When they told him Salakor seemed distraught and ensured that they could stay and wait for them, as long as there won't be any complications with the law. Jorhin got mad when he said this and showed strange signs of change. The party figured that the two twins may be some form of lycanthropes.    They confronted Salakor on this and asked him if he felt safe with them and if he had control of the situation. He ensured them that he did. He told them that he had known and taken care of them for 10 years. When Salakor told Jorhin that this was indeed his decision, the man crushed the table and revealed his true form. A wereleopard. The inn was emptied in a flash and Scruffy drew his weapon. Jorhin left and went upstairs to their room. Salakor and Joltan followed him.    The party sat down and had a drink to plan how they would proceed. Aurora was sent up to Scruffy to try and get more information about the fort. She didn't get much other than confirmation that the amulets were important and that something special was guarding the jail cells. She shared this information with the group. They then left for the Rusty Sword, which was the other tavern in town. They found it empty however and decided to come back later. Instead, they spent the day at the market where Ravojhan played his flute for the people.    When evening approached they went back to the Rusty Sword, which was now filled with guards and former guards. The party singles out one guard from the fort who was sitting alone in the corner with his uniform still on and his amulet around his neck. They tried to send a drink to him, but he didn't want it. They then sent Quinumo to talk to him and with some masterful charisma, he managed to warm up to the man and invite him to drink with the party. They all drink and get drunk until Aurora uses her fey magic to charm the guard and convinces him to go with them to the inn. She even convinces him to cheat on his wife with her in one of the rooms. When the bumbling gang arrived at the Stool and Spirit, Aurora and the guard went up to the party's room. There she convinced him to strip naked and then she left to "get a drink". She managed to steal the amulet with her down. The party then sent Ravojhan up to the guard. He entered the room to the great surprise of the guard, who was lying naked on the bed. Before he could react, the giant dragon-man used a magic spell to put him to sleep.    The party then realised in their drunken state, that they now only had one chance to realise their plan, before the guard woke up in the morning and blew the whole thing. They all headed towards the fort. There they were faced with a new problem, the guards at the gate. As they approached Ravojhan played his magical flute and managed to charm both of the guards. In their charmed state, the party managed to convince them that they were from the union of workers. The guards let the drunk party pass in order to inspect the facilities.    When they entered Kleech cast a sneaking spell and Aurora put the amulet on and was then able to lead the party through the fort and down to the dungeon. There they managed to find out what special creatures were guarding the jail. Several large naga were patrolling the dungeon. In order to better find their way they decided to enter one of the two doors in the long corridor, in which they had seen a guard. They charged in, following Quinumo who was now wearing the amulet, and attacked the three guards inside. Whilst beating them down Trinky, confused by the magic of the fort, entered the wrong door and found herself in a room with four other guards. Quinumo, realizing that Trinky was missing ran out and managed to pull her out of the room and take her place.    The fight was short. The party beat, pulled, kicked, choked and hit the guards until they were all lying unconscious on the floor. But before they did, one of the other four guards managed to scream for aid, and as they all put on amulets they could hear a serpentine hiss and bang on one of the doors facing the jail cells.
