Session 66: A Rest in Waterdeep Report

General Summary

Session 66 – Wednesday May 12, 2021

4.5 Hour Roleplay and battle session. 5:30 PM to 10:00P

It is the 29th day of the month of Marpenoth (Leaffall) in the 3rd year of the Age of Enialis

Goals:

• Rest in Waterdeep
• Red Rocks treasure
• White Dragon at Purple Rocks
• Collect the parts of the god Destroyer

Nobody got hurt in the making of this battle (but 2 PCs died.)

The party arrived in Waterdeep behind the Blackstaff tower. As soon as they arrived, Jandar and Jeter popped out of a gate from Hell. Jeter told the party, “Friends, it’s a miracle that you’re here! It’s Zariel, we pissed her off, prepare yourselves.” Zariel and 3 devils followed Jandar and Jeter through the portal. Zariel looked at Jandar and said, “oh no you don’t” and killed him with Finger of Death. The party saw one of the devils walk over to Jandar and stab him to make sure he’s dead. The party, surprised and shocked, joined the fray.

Al opened with his firebolt and was a little surprised that it did any damage at all. Jaquette cast insect plague and took out 2 of the devils. Anna ran in with 2 lightning bolts and Tyrus opened fire with his Laser rifle. Jeter began casting eldritch blast on Zariel. An old lady who was sitting on the bench ran up and began punching Zariel. Rolen, confused as to what was going on, felt his crossbow point to Zariel and opened fire as well. Zariel reached out and touched Jeter, dealing a bit of necrotic damage in addition to poisoning, blinding, and deafening him. Jaquette ran to help Jeter. Tyrus switched to his walloping arrows and laid into her. Zariel teleported over to Tyrus and then looked at Tyrus and made him burst into flames. The Corpse of Jandar rose as a zombie and started beating on Jeter. Zariel laid into Tyrus with her hammer and flail knocking him unconscious.

Lucky polymorphed Al into a Giant ape. Al the ape ran over to Zariel and tried to hit her. Jaquette reached Jeter and removed his blindness. Zariel set the ape on fire. With all the other devils killed the party focused on Zariel. Rolen however, first took out the undead Rolen. Zariel, wanting to make an example, let her flail smash into the unconscious Tyrus, killing him and then she focused on the giant ape. What she didn’t notice was that Tyrus was instantly reincarnated into a buxom blonde human female.

Zariel started whaling on the Giant ape and brought it down to 2 HP. Jaquette removed the poisoned the condition from Jeter. Anna started hitting Zariel and stunned her. Tyrena (Formerly known as Tyrus) picked up the sword from her former body’s dead hand and started attacking Zariel. Rolen turned to Zariel and hit her with 3 bolts. Zariel turned into a burst of flames and disappeared.

The Briefcase

Jeter saw that Jandar had dropped a briefcase when he was killed. Jeter picked it up and opened it. A bright light was shown upon Jeter’s face as he gazed into the briefcase. He pulled out a piece of paper (his contract with Zariel) and cast it to the grownd. He then cast create bonfire on it and burst the contract into flames. Out of the paper came a ghost like essence that flew into an open wound into Jeter’s neck. His skin cracked and crumbed away revealing a beaten and broken pale older human man with occasional sparks flying out of open wounds in his skin.

Watching all this Lucky started inching his way to the hot Tyrena. Anna intervened and provided Tyrena with some clothing. The Old woman transformed into a tall bald man whose staff is a pizza board. He introduced himself as Luigi. Rolen stood there wondering what the heck just happened! Anna found Jandar’s last will and testament and read it to the party. Jeter got Jandar’s bracers of defense.

What to do with a dead Jandar?

The party discussed what to do with Jandar. Tyrena suggested they carry him directly to the graveyard but then they decided to take him to Tyrena’s home for temporary storage. The party talked about Jandar and Luigi realized that Jandar was a Monk of the same Brotherhood that he was. Luigi said that we must take him to his monastery. Jaquette mentioned that she couldn’t take the body to Draggonford today and his body is going to start smelling in about day or so. Lucky stuck some incense in his nose and lit it to help cover any smell. Tyrena suggested that the party can hire someone to take care of the body.

Meeting with the Blackstaff

Tyrena suggested they go visit with he Blackstaff since she had some business with him. The whole party went. A simulacrum explained that there was an accident recently and they recently brought in help from Enialis’s school of the gifted. Tyrena met with Enialis first and explained that Yeenoghu was defeated. Enailis Offered Tyrena a place in the Zhentarim faction. Enialis gave Tyrena a sending stone for future communication. Luigi explained that he was responding to an advert he read and is interested in applying for a position in Blackstaff tower. After demonstrating his magical meatball, Enialis suggested he gain some more experience first. Luigi asked if he could travel with Tyrena and her friends and they agreed. After everyone had an opportunity with the Blackstaff Tyrena asked if Enialis would be able to help them with their dead friend. Enialis assigned one of the interns the task of taking Jandar to his temple in Draggonford.

T Rex cigars 找幸运

Tyrena took the party to his cigar establishment T-Rex Cigars  and noticed there were a few new symbols next to the sign on the front of the store. Lucky climbed up and read them as Zhǎo xìngyùn - 找幸运 - Zhou SING YUNE . Walking in Tyrena saw a stout man behind the counter that he did not recognize. A dark-haired man wearing a wide brimmed straw hat asked Tyrena how he could help her. Tyrena demanded to know who he was and he introduced himself as Fiew Lau . After moment one of Tyrena’s known employees, Glaz, came up (not recognizing Tyrus) and explained that Fiew runs the place. Tyrena explained his new appearance and convinced the two that she was who he said she was.

Fiew Lau explained that he’s the brother of Sonya Lau whom Tyrus had met at Bob’s buds in Neverwinter. Fiew explained the organizational structure of Zhǎo xìngyùn - 找幸运 - Zhou SING YUNE and said that Tyrena is a “Blue Lantern” or an uninitiated member and she will need to learn her place. He explained that Zhǎo xìngyùn will receive 10% of everything and an enforcer will be by at the first of every month to collect. Zhǎo xìngyùn will provide a continuous supply of products. Fiew told Tyrena “do not be short with the expected profits and be sure your clientele is upper class.” Then he stepped outside into the storm. A bolt of lightning struck and Fiew disappeared. After Fiew left, Tyrena offered the party some hot bean water.

Other activities

The party went their separate ways and agreed to meet back at Tyrena’s at the end of a tenday. Jeter wanted to perform outside of T Rex Cigars and Tyrena agreed. Rolen gave Jeter some gold to purchase some nicer clothes and a new Lute. Anna took him out and purchased him properly dressed and a brand-new staff and an exotic Lute for 100gp. Over the week Jeter earned 45gp. Tyrena spent some time successfully making 2 flashbangs. He also located an armory run by a dwarven couple named Farbrek and Torra Madkin. Tyrus provided them the Marut armor and commissioned for 600gp a custom half plate. He also found an elven fletcher named Ralojor Evenshard who had 23 +1 Walloping Arrows. Tyrena gave him a cigar that he enjoyed and persuaded him to lower the price from 400gp to 180gp each. Tyrus bought them all 4,140gp.

Anna purchased a couple spells from Enailis. For 2,000 gp Anna was able to copy Dispel Magic and Phantom Steed. Anna purchased the necessary ink and materials to learn practice and copy the spells into her book. Rolen Spent his week carousing. During the week he made three allied contacts:

• Lord Pierre Jackson Hargreave III - Human Politician. Family been in Waterdeep for many years. His father and grandfather were influential politicians. Pierre is up and coming, but not yet wielding as much influence as his ancestors. He desperately desires and fully expects to be a Lord of Waterdeep. But he is patient and is biding his time.
• Sir Caspian Beaumont - Elderly Elvin Knight (Paladin) of the Grey Hands. He retired many years before the age of Enailis. He still has many contacts and influence in the City Watch, Lords of Waterdeep and even the Blackstaff himself.
• The Lady Yasmina Lockwood - Human. Her husband "Lord Rafferty Lockwood" is one of the secret "Lords of Waterdeep." But the truth is, that Lady Yasmina is the real power behind his seat. She tells him exactly how to make any decision.

Lucky had Al do some shopping and then spent his week doing research. He learned a bit more about the ring of winter and that Artus Cimber was last seen in Chult. He learned that Artus is a good person who believes he is entrusted with the Ring of Winter. He learned various details about the Ring of winter, what it can do and that the summer queen has the ability and the desire to destroy the ring. He also learned that the god slayer sword.

The Queen of Air and Darkness wanted a weapon to kill the god Corellon. She worked with Bane the god of war to fashion a sword so great that it could make a god Mortal. The weapon was forged in several parts. However, Moradin, god of creation caught wind of the weapon being forged. He, Bahamut and Corellon were able to obtain the weapon. They broke it down into 4 parts and separated them.

Lucky and Al drank, sang and shared tales of the Order of heroes. They were able to increase the reputation of the Order of Heroes to the point that the party had advantage on any persuasion check with anyone from Waterdeep for a period of time.

The interns from the Blackstaff took the body of Jandar to Draggonford. The party decided NOT to give the interns the cash that Jandar had for his temple and said they would deliver themselves eventually. At the end of the ten-day, the party began looking for a ship to take them to the Red Rocks…
