Session 84: The Gala Report

General Summary

Session 84 – Wednesday October 13, 2021 – The Gala

  4 Hour Role playing session. 6:00 PM to 10:00P

It is the 14th day of the month of Uktar (The Rotting) in the 3rd year of the Age of Enialis

Goals:

• Find the source of People missing from Neverwinter
• Gather the other parts of the god Destroyer (Blade, Hilt and guard)
• Locate the Amber Sarcophagi and destroy them with the god Destroyer
• Take the sword to the Summer Queen and have her destroy it.
• White Dragon at Purple Rocks

Knight time in the Cemetery.

As evening approached, Rolen met up with the party at the Harper’s stronghold and then walked to the cemetery. There were 4 Harpers and 5 from the Order of the Gauntlet. The Harpers and Gauntlet had already formed a plan. The Order of Heroes (OoH) arrived just as the sun was setting and Rolen spotted Bjorn poorly hiding in the trees. The OoH separated to join the Harpers and the Gauntlet. Anna and Rolen joined the Gauntlet members for a frontal assault. Jaquette and Lucky went hiding with the Harpers to flank the Mind Flayers and add a 2nd layer of surprise.

One of the Harpers pointed out to Jaquette that the Mausoleum door was open when it was not before. Jaquette turned into a mouse and crawled into the Mausoleum but she didn’t see anything. Al went and informed Rolen that the door was open. Rolen who was focusing on the sky looked around and got a glimpse of a creature in the woods. Rolen informed Bjorn and a couple of the Paladins slowly began to examine the area. Rolen saw the Mind Flayer appear as it began casting a spell on one of the Paladins. Rolen successfully cast counterspell.

They heard a knocking noise and then a thud. They saw another door appear on the side of the mausoleum. The door opened and Tyrena came walking out. She turned and waved goodbye to the Keeper. Lucky headed to greet Tyrena, and 5 more Mind flayers came flying in over the treetops. Rolen rushed towards the Mind Flayer in the woods and the battle began. It only took a few rounds, but the OoH, Harpers and Paladins successfully protected the Cemetery. They lost two of the Paladins and killed all but one of the Mind flayers. One Mind Flayer got away but not before Lucky was able to get a piece of its wing.

A Well-deserved rest

The OoH talked with the Harpers and remaining Paladins and confirmed that the Factions would have more of their members soon. Rolen checked on Luigi and Ygga Raxyg and suggested the re-order all the books by size rather than by Author. Jaquette checked on the bushes and provided them some water and comfort. Lucky gave a rousing speech to the remaining Paladins and Harpers and cast Mass Suggestion on them to fight to the best of their ability. Lucky also cast Antipathy on Tyrena to protect her from Werewolves. Anna cast Alarm on the mausoleum. Everyone got some sleep while the Order of the Gauntlet stayed on guard.

Morning in Neverwinter.

In the morning the party went to the Harper Stronghold one more time to confirm they’d have plenty of people to defend the cemetery overnight. The Harpers were expecting another dozen Harpers and Paladins and confirmed they’d be good. The Harpers went on to say that they should have even more people available the next day.

Jaquette made her way over to Edgar Barnes home and surprised Edgar with regrowing his missing leg. Edgar didn’t seem as pleased about it as his wife was. Edwina was very happy now Edgar can complete all the things that needed to be done around the house and could even go back to work! Jaquette said, “You’re welcome!”

Shopping in Amn.

At noon, the party traveled via plants and went to Amn. They met one of the Annas who took them to the “Dawn of Creation.” Lucky, Al and Rolen went to the men’s section while Jaquette and Tyrena went with Anna into the Women’s section.

Jaquette got a long green dress with a plunging neckline. Tyrena found a form fitting red dress and put it on, then lit up a cigar. Anna gave Tyrena a gold necklace with rubies to accent the dress. Anna gave to Jaquette a walking cane made of Sandalwood and Amber. Jaquette found a barber that shaved her dwarven beard. Rolen found a very traditional black Tuxedo with tails, top hat, and a cane. The elf behind the counter offered a Monocle to complete the outfit. Lucky had a custom suit made to fit his muscular physique. The jacket was a velvet green with red lapels and a high-quality red pointed hat. Al got an outfit that looked exactly like Lucky’s old outfit.

The Gala.

The OoH went to the Sapphire palace in the Gem district. They found the ornate Sapphire palace, surrounded by a gate made of White Sapphire. The building itself was pyramid shaped and blue. There were 2 enlarged bullseye lanterns shining like beacons into the sky along the walkway to the palace. A pair of dolphins carved from aquamarine adorned the top of the entryway into the palace. As they walked along the ornate path there were crowds of people gazing upon the invitees. Many in the crowd were quickly sketching the attendees and the exquisite attire the attendees wore.

The inside of the ballroom was breath taking, with ruby red carpet on descending stairs into the ballroom. The floor was black and white marble and there was inlaid gold and platinum in the marble columns. Al hopped on Lucky’s shoulders and took on the appearance of a single taller person as he escorted Tyrena. The food layout was with a seafood theme as well as a full bar. The servants appeared to be halflings but Rolen saw they were all metallic kobolds.

There was a marble stone carving of Anna leading the Order of Heroes with a plaque below that read, “She showed mercy to those who showed none. May her compassion continue to show through those who knew her." As the OoH approached closer, they saw through Memorial Stone illusion and saw what it truly was: A portrait is of the entire Selemchant family (31st and 32nd generation) with Morgana at the focal point. The plaque actually read, "Be relentless against those who took her away from us. Make them regret taking the life of the only Selemchant who would have shown them mercy."

There were many people at the party. There were nobles and leaders from all the major cities on the Sword coast. The party saw, Fredrik and Chipper in the crowd. They also ran into some Vistani from Barovia. They ran into Cersei who told them, “If you need any help avenging your friend, let me know.” Tyrena found the Governor of Mirabar, a large dwarf named Gloin who was bragging about his personal relationship with Tyrus. The Selemchant family was then introduced, and all the family walked down the stairs, each in their own distinct style.

The Order of Heroes

Several people spoke of Anna. Lucky represented the group and sang a song of Anna that brought tears to many people’s eyes. A few of the Annas were dressed in garb that looked similar to individuals in the OoH. The party found out that some of the individuals were real fanboys. After mingling for some time, Rolen requested an audience with Anna’s mother and father (Anna and Robin.) They were told by the servants that Anna and Robin would very much want to meet with them. The whole party walked up to meet Anna and Robin and were greeted very regally and then invited into a private chamber.

Tyrena asked if there is anything they could do for the family. The Sr. Anna asked them to share a story and Lucky told wonderful tales (all true) of Anna. The party noticed that the Sr. Anna looked very much alike. They surmised that Morgana was the most senior direct descendant of Lady Anna. The Lady Anna asked “I wonder why she left the safety of her sisters? She had come back to learn more defense but would not yield in her belief that all life is sacred.”

Robin asked, “What are your plans?” Rolen replied that they were working on a long-term plan to peruse the one that took away your daughter. Rolen avoided Lucky’s eyes while he said this. Robin snapped his fingers and a kobold servant brought over a small onyx box about 6 inches square. Robin took it and handed it to Rolen asking, “Please return to me the heart of the person who took my daughter.” Rolen looked at Lucky who was covering his mouth and then took the box. Rolen took the box and said, “We will do what we can.” Robin promised compensation for avenging his daughter. Everyone else noticed that Lucky looked quite upset at the developments.

Cersei, Fredrik and Chipper

As the evening began to wind down, Rolen found Cersei and asked her if she had heard from her son, Eustace. Cersei had not and Rolen explained that he thinks he found his remains in Chult. Cersei hid her feelings and Rolen could not quote read her, but she seemed to be faking a bit of sadness. Rolen gave her the bones he had in Chult and Cersei thanked him. She again reiterated her offer of assistance to avenge Anna. She called out to Fredrik and Chipper and said, “Come along now.”

Jaquette called out to Chipper and Chipper ran over to her. He up her leg and nibbled her ear. He then explained that running Fredrik’s shoppe has been keeping him very busy. Chipper’s keeping all the books and managing inventory, but Fredrik’s business is doing well. Chipper thanked Jaquette for saving his life and then after one more nibble on the ear he ran back to Fredrik and Cersei. Cersei took them outside where she became a massive dragon and then flew them back North.

Back at the Selemchant’s

Rolen talked to one of the Annas and confirmed they would have lodging. AnnaLisa told him that they would have room back at the Mansion. The party went back to the mansion and were given the choice of which room (or which theme) they’d like. Tyrena noticed the library and asked how the books are organized. Anna explained that they were grouped by category. Rolen opened his portal to Luigi and suggested they reorganize by category this time. The party had a good night’s sleep.

In the morning Rolen (as usual) woke up first and let the rest of the party sleep in till about 10 or 11AM. Eventually Rolen asked one of the kobolds to wake the others. They found food and found out that the burial was at dawn and the OoH missed it. The party thanked the family for the accommodations. AnnaLisa rejoined the party. They noticed that her outfit had changed to be a tribute to Morganna. They headed off to Neverwinter.

Harpers

Jaquette opened the plant portal and the party walked into a tree in Amn and came out of a tree near the Harpers base in Neverwinter. Meeting with the Harpers they learned that the battle the night before went well at the Cemetery. They had about 24 total Harpers and Gauntlet Paladins. Several in the ranks were magic users who helped prepare and gain an advantage on the Mind flayers. There were 8 Mind Flayers this time and they killed 6 of them and only lost 2 Harpers and 1 from the Order of the Gauntlet.

The Harpers expected to have even more people available tonight and they told the Order of Heroes, “We’ve got this.” The OoH thanked the Harpers and made their way to the Cemetery. They found several Harpers and Knights of the Order of the Gauntlet milling about. The party went straight into the tomb and into the darkness in the corner…
