In the Hearth

General Summary

The Alchemist's Husband had room for everyone, but the party quickly realized they were interrupting a wake. A young dwarf, Finnegan Minebrew, was laid out while his family and friends gathered. The proprieter, Sandraline Minebrew, was the boys aunt, and seemed to be keeping busy and focused on seeing to everyone rather than her own grief. She brought thm dinner and organized rooms for them, and then the party started to plan out their next moves.   For the next day, the decided they needed to warn the church about the volcano exploding dreams, and warn the human government about the DFA monster.   After a bit of ease dropping, Guy Fieri figured out that Finnegan had been caught in a DFA explosion in Mathair's Hearth, and though the boy had never associated with the rebel group. Apparently that overt violence was more common in the city. Tethrys overheard a very 'us vs them' mentality from the dwarves about the DFA- this group of dwarves at least weren't greatful for their rebellion.   The next day, Murtagh and Bayleaf went to speak with the human govenor, and Tethrys and Guy went to speak to the church officials, planning to meet up afterwards outside the church.   Murgath and Bayleaf went to the govenor's offices very early in the day, and manged to be the first in line to speak with the Frida Northridottir that day. Her secretary took their information and held them off until it was officially time for them to meet, before finally allowing them in to see the govenor.   They gave a full report on what they knew of the DFA to the govenor. She listened patiently to their reports of the monster from the tunnel and it's DFA connections, and while she said she intended to follow up on this information, she acted as though she believed the report entirely. She thanked them for the information, and encouraged them to come back if they learned more.   Guy and Murtagh went straight to the church and tried to give the report to the desk cleric, Adrid Mudjaw, who was immediately in over their head. She ushered them deeper into the compound, and took a little while but did organize a meeting (in a Zone of Truth) with Sirrobela Nightspine, a Brigid expert, and the head priest Vorgeas Runemace. They told the church officials about the monster, their direct discussions with Brigid, their quest to get the Hammer, Anvil and Tongs to Free the Train Goddess, and the rest of the events leading to Mathair's Hearth.   Though their story seems incredible, the Zone of Truth and Vorgeas's intution deem the reports credible. He asked the two of them to infiltrate the DFA and find out anything else they could. The church is blind to which members might be part of the splintered faction, and so can't know how best to help and protect people.   The church gave the party two healing potions, as a small token of thanks. They were shown out, and met Murtagh and Bayleaf out front. Murtagh wanted to take the time to pray, so he went into the chapel. While he was inside, Guy Fieri and Tethrys spotted a feathery white blur, and heard a tell tale honk.   They chased the goosey signals, until the goose lead them into Dearig's Green, a garden space meant for peace and quiet. In a small seculuded area behind some bushes, the goose transformed into an effiminate man with a cheeky grin- the god Vanir.   Vanir teased the party. While he couldn't give the party any answers, or Brigid wouldn't credit them with having done any work, he was able to tell them that they were running out of time, and they were working far too literally. The dream he sent them shouldn't be taken so literally- the volcano is a metaphor.   Then Vanir disappeared is a shimmering cloud, leaving a white goose feather behind.
