Session 2: Traveling the Mollen Marshes

General Summary

Chapter 1: On the Witch's Track

  **Note: Due to further failure on the part of technology, only PART of the session's audio was recorded. Something happened with the breakout rooms that destroyed all audio thereafter... which means again there is no video available. Eventually we'll get there... but not yet.**   **NOTE: There are spoiler sections below that will be revealed by clicking the "Spoiler" buttons. I trust everyone on the honor system not to open things you should not.**   Upon awakening in the Vondein Woods the day after rescuing Drux and Kitty from wolves, the three travelers awoke and went about their morning business. Torcanimir went off to relieve himself on a tree, and was watched by Brooklyn via her familiar's eyes to make sure that all was well. Following this, they talked with Drux a bit more to try to learn more about the quest that the goblin's chief, Barflal, would be requesting they undertake, but only learned that it involved the Gagniang Tribe's spiritual guide. Bemused and suspicious, they agreed to proceed with Drux to his tribe.   Their journey across the marsh led to some small dangers - attempts at stealthily proceeding failed, as did eying the route ahead. However, after a brief stint traveling in the wrong direction, the group managed to reach the tribe and meet with the half-ogre (ogrillon) Barflal. In their meeting, he explained that the Lizardfolk had led an incursion beyond their boundaries and captured Geil'azi, a goblin warlock with a demon patron named Gor'glesh. The key danger for Geil'azi is that if she were to be slain, then her patron would be released from his bonds and either use her body as a vessel or transfer himself to another creature. After an attempt to recover the spiritual guide led to the deaths of many warriors, Barflal had sent his people out to seek aid from potential heroes. A promised reward of 120 gp immediately kindled interest - and fresh concerns that perhaps the danger ahead was far greater than expected.   After agreeing to assist, the group left to meet with Straiga, an orc smith who had been amongst the people attacked in the first ambush. She supplied them with some additional weapons - a battleaxe, two shortswords, a flask of oil, and a pair of component kits for a Find Familiar spell taken from Geil'azi's tent. The trio soon realized that there was little love lost between Straiga and Geil'azi, as the latter tended to use her position to seize whatever it was she wanted. As payment for the weapons, Straiga merely requested that the companions find a fine scimitar she had made that Geil'azi claimed.   That evening, Torcanimir left the camp and met with the goddess supplying his power. While he attempted to inquire what the point of him being in the region was, she merely provided cryptic clues that something seemed to be drawing nearer on the horizon that he would need to be her agent for. When he asked when he could see her, the goddess said only that certain things could not be determined by the future. Bemused, he returned to camp until the morning, where they set off with Drux as their guide for the site of the battle.   In the course of their first day of travel, they came across and expansive stretch where no land offered a path forward. Ingenuity abounded as Indra Ravensway and Brooklyn Sunmeadow used magic to create a path of ice across the space. Drux still fell in and was beset with leeches, but the others passed without incident.   BREAKOUT SESSION 1: Brooklyn

That evening, Brooklyn fell into a troubled sleep of a realm with shadows that drifted like fog around her. She dreamed of a shadowy figure attacking another indistinguishable form with a knife. For the killing blow she was suddenly the shadowy figure, and then she was returned to her own body within the odd shadow realm. And then there was another nearby who was aware of her, speaking to her of punishment and speaking as if familiar of her. Pain racked her head as the being delved inside her mind, and then the being released her and drifted away with more mysterious words and no answers.

Indra's dreams were troubled as she relived the painful moment where she was trapped within fire and her mother burned to death before her. While attempting to get to her mother and provide help, the fire burned her and left her in pain that woke her from slumber.
  In the latter part of the night, Torcanimir was attacked by a Giant Constrictor Snake and nearly slain while the others rushed to assist. When attempting to use his Dragon Breath, Torcanimir suddenly became consumed by fear and struggled to break free from the creature holding him. After Brooklyn delivered a final blow against the snake, they recovered for the night.   The following day found everyone on the road again, this time discovering the corpse of an adventurer with an explorer's pack. After claiming the goods, they continued on to the edge of the Lizardfolk territory and made camp for the evening once more.   BREAKOUT SESSION 3: Torcanimir

Following the harrowing events of the previous evening, Torcanimir was once more visited by Denflore. She expanded upon her reasons for having Torcanimir in this region, hinting that momentous events lay ahead, and that he may need to expand his role from being a Soul Shepherd to one who makes the judgments on who lives and dies in some cases. However, his own fears of the fessendracheln were still affecting him, preventing him from achieving her true potential. However, the road for him to overcome his past was one that he would need to discover. When asked about his companions, Denflore hinted that there seemed to be some curiosities that mystified even her.
  As the night progressed, Brooklyn fell asleep during her watch, exhausted from the travails of the previous night, leaving everyone without a guard for the remainder of the night....
