Session 31: Of Devils and Destroyed Empires Report
General Summary
Party bought some shit, i said if you want to inspect any books or tomes you've collected then tell me, sold some items, Kaden got to work on reverse engineering the mechadrone to stop Elyxtraza and then the game started
They spoke with the captured elves, Eugene, the light elf, reveals that failure means his collar turns him into a dark elf and for the dark elf failure means his collar kills him. They are from the "institute", sent here by Vonaya to prevent Abshaloth or others from entering the hold and unleashing the dwarves back onto Tetra. The dwarves are apparently the Iron Devils on Thyssla, having fled there during the Devastation, they spent the last 400 years fighting in the blood war against demons and only getting worse. If they come back to Tetra they will likely conquer Europa and perhaps the whole world with their superior technology fueled by demons. Still, having them return would be great for stopping the cult and empowering Angrose leaving Kaden and Squire undecided on the matter.
As the party goes to the docks to meet Buffy they see Yrsa of House Fukkarund appear with a fleet of saxon and her own house ships, she arrives and states she is formally challenging for the position of Jarl of Jarls, meaning that anyone or their champion can challenge her or her champion and the winner throughout all of Angrose gains the title of Jarl of Jarls, ruler over all of Angrose. Mainly people stepped up to challenge her, all but Buffy, Fafnir Dragonstone, and Kaden stood back down when she revealed her champion was a pit fiend.
Apparently she acquired the pit fiend through Wrax of house wrath of the black hand. Who, when trying to summon and eryines, summoned general Marbag of the 14th section of the Flesh Wall instead. Marbag says he was sent to answer the summoning call by Baalepehlegor, leader of all of Sheol's armies. Who after being slain by Martius during the devastation, has grown increasingly erratic and bloodthristy, always fighting on the frontlines against the demons unlike the rest of the archdevils who prefer to stay safe in their palaces. Marbag is an honorable devil however, respecting each opponent as he defeated them. Now House Redwater and House Dragonstone both follow Yrsa after Marbag beat them.
Yrsa is choosing now to make her play for the throne because she believes its crucial that the clans of Angrose finally unite into a real nation and cease raiding the rest of Europa. Putting aside their clan structure and becoming more similar to saxony with a standing army, more rule of law and better trade. To this end the Kaiser sent Loreli to help foster a good relationship with the up and coming Jarl of Jarls, Loreli met with Raime, got information on what Raime and the party were up to, then with his permission placed a tracker nail bug on his hand to watch and come to his aid should it be needed. She is actually here on orders from her patron of the fey, here to stop something the Raven Queen is up to. Anyways, Yrsa rightly points out how Garruk has abandoned his post, is not leading his nation properly, and has instead become obssessed with killing dragons to the detriment of Angrose. Dragons are no longer the threat, the cult is, and Angrose has a chance to strike the deathblow now that the cult is scattered after their rout at the dread harbor, many people agree with her, most just disagree with her timing, still, she beat all contenders in Trondhiem and took the fleet intended to reinforce Garruk to instead hunt down cultists that have taken over Gulaan.
Peter prayed to Elyxtraza, finding out that the rules restricting devils being on Tetra (devils such as pit fiends), was lessened by Ecumenopolis, on her orders of course. Giving devils unprecendented freedom as the Celestial Compact now basically only applies to the other firstborn. Elyxtraza was also concerned that Baalephelegor was the one to send Marbag, asking the party to vist Sheol to talk to her and Azazel soon. Adamah spoke to Wrax who revealed that the Black Hand basically just wants Yrsa in charge in order to stop Angrose from raiding the rest of Europa, thats as far as their plan extends he says. He also says he tried to summon an eriynes but got a massive pit fiend instead, hes confused but it worked out so who cares? Still, to keep the pit fiend here on Tetra requires the sacrifice of one soul per day in a ritual he did not reveal to them. Yrsa is aware of this ritual and is using the captured slaves and cultists from her old raids as stock for it.
The party, unable to face a pit fiend, left to continue their journey, along the way they found a zombie named Wulf who said he was sent by the Raven Queen to conduct business with a dragon who was not having it. He asked the party for help, offering his services as a guide since he once fought for the Human Union during the Devastation and knows this place and its history well but Peter also knows it and they decided he wasnt needed. He left and was assumed destroyed following a mighty thunderbolt that could be seen coming from the dragons lair.
The party then came under attack from ambushing fey who used enchanted weapons to knock the party off of cliffs and down slopes, when one of them landed in a snow drift they were copied and they and a perfect fey copy of them (made of snow), crawled out. This only happened to Adamah though and at first it was difficult to determine who the real Adamah was but Squire cast detect evil and good and was able to uncover the fey imposter. Following another failed ambush the pixie leader and her sprite son were captured. The party now rests inside their home away from home with all of their captives, the entrance to the dwarven capital only a few miles away...
We will not be playing the week of the 4th because I want to play the Dragons of Tarkir prerelease instead, we will also not be playing the week of the 18th since that is my mother's wedding (again), I have an idea though that I hope you will all be receptive too...
