After accidentally locating a NAPF base, the New Champions returned to that location, attempting to place a DarkR Web node to help them secretly infiltrate Doctor Destroyer's operations. However, the location is staffed with 30+ agents...a mere nuisance.
Ghost pummels through two agents in watch towers, punching them into unconsciousness and destroying the lookouts.
But this was only a distraction so that Wildthing could leap onto the tallest radio transmission tower and place a DarkR node without being noticed.
Once she placed the node, it was clear the entire facility was crawling with agents. Down below, Lil’Rocket was blazing across the compound, rapid-fire punching agents into early slumber.
While taking on the agents, the team meets Liliana, a magically powered hero who helped Blue Wave escape from a storage-container prison cell. Blue Wave, Liliana, and Runeforce then teamed up to rescue other prisoners trapped inside the enhanced storage containers.
But after a few moments, Gigaton stepped out of the armored tuck that had just arrived and flew high above the containers,
“YOU FOOLS! Heroes always think they know what is best, but you are FOOLS!”
With that, he aimed his charged hands at Liliana, hitting her squarely with a gigablast. She slumped to the ground.
Runeforce portaled nearby and bathed Blue Wave and Liliana with innervating rays — an extra layer of protection while they continued rescuing the prisoners.
Having flown into the woods with an Elite Agent, Ghost dropped him into the trees and returned to face Gigaton. The power of her fists pushed Gigaton through the building and out the other side, but it only served to anger him more.
“I will remember you, faceless one. You will be my next EXECUTION!”
But Ghost’s fury of punches continued. And Gigaton could take it.
Gigaton opened fire at Ghost, but she was too fast. His blast hit the ground and caused the fuel tanks nearby to explode.
In that moment, four Destroids appeared…and the New Champions saw the opportunity for escape. Liliana, Blue Wave, and Runeforce portaled away with several of the prisoners. Similarly…Rocket, Ghost, and Wildthing each took some of the prisoners to safety.
But as the New Champions made their escape, they could see the appearance of FIVE super-powered fighters. In the distance, the team could see these five engaging the Destroids and destroying the compound with extreme malice.
Who is this new team? How did they know the location of the NAPF base?
