Recreating the Danger Room Session Report

General Summary

The New Champions attempt to recreate the circumstances that allowed Destroids to intrude into their last Danger Room session.   Socrates had upgraded the system, allowing it to be accessed via biorhythm sensors/transmitters…with much more realistic graphics and sensory experiences — almost realistic.   During the first iteration of the danger room session, soon after Maximum Resistance launched his flash attack, six Destroids began to appear in the room and the team lost their connection with Socrates – only hearing static.   Lil’Rocket attacked one of the Destroids, destroying it. The others engaged as well. But soon thereafter, Socrates regained control of the room and pulled the team out of the simulation.   In this second iteration of the danger room section, Sandcrab, Cypher, and Sparks joined outside the simulation and monitored Socrates’ Codebase and all incoming and outgoing data transmissions. Cypher entered Cerebsis and attempted a large-scale endeavor.

Inside the simulation, the same team who sparred before now tried their best to re-create their steps… with some inevitable half-heartedness and joking along the way.   Once again, soon after Maximum Resistance’s flash attack, something strange happened.   Instead of Destroids appearing, a person wearing a full body sensory suit appeared along with several drones and all sorts of monitoring equipment.   After surrendering immediately, even kneeling and putting his hands up, he said quickly, “We are on the same side! I know you are the New Champions! We also oppose Dr. Destroyer!”   He explains that he is on assignment, attempting to penetrate Destroyer’s Cyberplane   “We’ve sent multiple externally-controlled Destroids ahead of us. But this is our first manned infiltration attempt.”   After the team questioned him further, he explained,   ”I work for The Division. We are a group of ex judges, and attorneys who are trying to restore the Justice System. We have some military, scientists, and industry execs among our ranks as well…I was previously with PRIMUS. My name is Jared Swanson.”   Jared looked around while speaking. Looking for something or someone…   “My partner must already be in the cyberplane. I don’t see her here. She desperately needs my assistance — Please…disconnect me from this apparatus! Every minute I am here my partner is in danger!!”   Soon afterward, Socrates speaks again, the situation ends, and Jared dissappears.
The team monitoring the Danger Room from the outside didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary until Socrates’ processing capacity approached 87% and began to rely on reserve processing power.   Through code monitoring, they noticed an SCRT protocol request to Socrates’ operating system coming from an unidentified source location.   The protocol authenticated immediately and began functioning as reserve capacity for Socrates.   Though they could see what was on the screen in the Danger Room, Socrates did not seem to be perceiving the events in the Danger Room — his perception routines were returning static.   Audio feeds from Socrates did not match the Danger Room events. It sounded like an office or some other type of professional environment.   They could hear concerned voices. Even the statement, “This is the second time we’ve lost control of the SCRT protocol! Why are we seeing the New Champions? I need answers…NOW!”   While the team was only talking with Jared in the room and not using their powers, Socrates’ processing levels returned to normal and the SCRT protocol exited. Socrates took back over the Danger Room and discontinued the session.   It was impossible for Cypher or Sparks to hack the firewall behind which the SCRT protocol was operating. However, the GPS coordinates of the firewall were located in the countryside west of Millennium City — exactly the location where Cypher’s bot Lindsay died trying to enter The Division’s secure area.   They would ultimately learn that Socrates was not operating at 100%, though no one had noticed up to this point. His build is so complex, even he had disregarded the missing components as destroyed in the moments of the vanishing. But it appears that The Division has recovered Socrates’ missing code.   In the conversation/questioning that followed, Cypher insulted Socrates by comparing him to Algorithm. Then, somewhat out of his norm, Socrates left the room and asked for some ‘time to himself’.   The story continues…
