Session 86: Midnight's Delight's SOS Report

General Summary

9th of Erntenir 1524 continued     At 10:50am Karl left Brechlen and entered the familiar tent of the being he now knows is Calluna. Karl updates Calluna on what has happened to Abigail which upsets Calluna. She doesn’t like her things being taken without permission. Karl asks for her aid in getting Abigail back. Calluna offers Karl the following boons:

  • A diamond worth 5,000 gold which is a loaner.
  • A disguise self Tattoo with limited uses
  • A charm to summon Calluna for 1 minute.
Afterwards Karl and Calluna sit down for tea and biscuits before Karl heads out.  
At 10:50 am the gem on the boat glows and the boat seems to return to being magical again, much to Lily’s relief. They get back in the boat and fly away. After half an hour of flying time Lily asks Uqaviel about what he would do in Nisroc’s situation and would he give his true name to get out of the situation to continue his true duties. Uqaviel isn’t sure he would even be able to do it depending on the orders he has been given.  
At 11:30am Fargrim arrives at the temple of Neira. Fargrim donates 9 gold as he enters and heads for the High Paladin’s office. However the door is locked and no one answers when he knocks. After realising that the High Paladin is likely with the Lady Topaz as he contacts Lily with his sending stone. He updates Lily on where Karl has gone before heading to the temple of Avani/Xeldarix.   At noon Fargrim arrives at the temple. He enquires with Selise about is Simone has been by and tells her about the fake Simone after they move to a space to speak privately. It seems that Kate was looking over the books and supporting them to be a more independent business and less reliant on donations that could dry up at any moment.   Afterwards Fargrim goes to see Phobe who is drawing on her bed. She’s drawn a nice picture of a bed with a person sleeping in it, but the shadow beneath has eyes which freaks Fargrim out. Fargrim gets Phobe to talk about the drawing and really hones in that shadows don’t have eyes and no one is going to hurt her in bed so they don’t need eyes.   Phobe tells Fargrim about a horrible prank played on her while she slept and her reaction that go her in trouble. She wished someone was there to keep her safe at night, but Fargrim and the others just go home to their own beds at night. Fargrim gives Phobe a hug and explains the pranks that get played on him by Lily and Karl and how they can be hurtful at times too, but they’re still his friends. However Fargrim tries to reaffirm that shadows under beds don’t have eyes. Upset at the criticism, Phobe tears up her drawing. Fargrim apologies for upsetting her but she shrugs it off since she feels like no one likes her pictures anyway as she packs up the drawing materials.   Fargrim tries to explain he’s just trying to keep her out of trouble like a good friend, but Phobe doesn’t get it and just views her drawings as getting her in trouble. She doesn’t really understand how but doesn’t fight it. Seeing that maybe he has overstepped, Fargrim tries to distract Phobe by getting permission to take her out for the day and stay over tonight. Fargrim takes her for lunch before heading back to the temple of Neira with Phobe in hand.  
At 12:15pm Karl leaves the tent. He contacts Fargrim via the stone to let him know he’s back while he’s finishing up talking to Selise. He also contacts Lily to tell her the same as she flies back to the caves. Then he heads to the temple of Neira as he mistakens Fargrim’s temple location for Neira instead of Avani and after consulting with some Paladins he is escorted to Lady Topaz’s estate.  
At 12:50 Lily arrives back at the caves. She knocks and the entrance is opened. Lily works with Lulamin to close it off with a bit more layers before getting everyone in the boat and heading towards Brechlen. She is going to aim for the hilly area to the North East of Brechlen where she could help set up a camp.  
At 1pm Karl arrives at the estate of Lady Topaz. After waiting a short time in a waiting area Karl is escorted to a sunroom. There he is properly introduced to Lady Topaz who he recognises from Simone’s party. Karl has heard of her and knows she was a high priestess of the temple but stepped down to go into politics as per her family’s path.   They discuss the problem together about the Chanty and what the Lady Topaz has learned since being alerted to the problem. She’s currently chained to a wall at the mercy of the tide. She’s fed once a day and unable to really do any magic. They are pushing her to her limits to force a transfer of bloodline and power location claims. Each day her resolve and strength is tested. Karl plans with them about how he might be able to get the Chanty out, depending on the wards of the area.   The Lady Topaz and High Paladin will come to support the group during this. Fargrim had messages Salma about this time to inform the group he is on the way. Karl speaks a little more with them before leaving for the mage guild with the idea the Lady and High Paladin would follow after Fargrim arrives.  
At 1:30pm Phobe and Fargrim arrive at the temple of Neira. He learns that the High Paladin has still not returned and seeks out Saryea instead. He leaves Phobe with Saryea as he needs to hunt down the High Paladin. He uses the ring to contact Salma before heading for the estate after getting directions.  
At 1:45pm Karl leaves the manor and runs into Fargrim. Karl takes Fargrim into the manor as he quickly updates Fargrim on what has been discovered and discussed before he leaves to head for the mage guild using the fly spell. As he flies he also contacts Lily with the sending stone to update her on what has happened and the fact they are rescuing the Chanty ASAP. Lily promises to change her plans and come back now so Karl will wait for her if they can. Lily has a plan and will be sending Godwyn and Gummy to the circle in the mage guild.  
Fargrim is taken to see the High Paladin and Lady Topaz. He talks to them about what has happened and shows them Kate’s diary with the entries about the Chanty. They send a runner back to the temple to tell Saryea that she will need to watch Phobe until he returns and to take Phobe to the manor if he’s not back to collect her for a 6pm dinner. Then the trio leave for the mage guild.   Unbeknownst to Fargrim, Saryea being left a child took her to see Clara and Peter once she realised Fargrim had left the temple.  
Lily lands the boat and explains the situation to the group. They plot and plan how to get back quickly given the situation. Xeldarix will teleport Godwyn, Emelia and Gummy to Brechlen with Uqaviel following with his own teleport afterwards. They boost Xeldarix with potions and magic to minimise the impacts of the teleport. Lily will take their belongings in the boat. After hearing it is safe to do so, Lily sends them off and thankfully nothing rips through the veil. Lily then starts to fly to Brecheln.  
At 2:15pm Karl contacts Lily to tell her the circle is at 12:35pm after checking when it will be free. Steve is busy tutoring, so Karl leaves a note for him under his door. Next he goes to see Trinity after booking a practice room for the rest of the day. He updates Trinity on all that has happened. She offers to be available to help in case something goes wrong. Trinity casts Mind Blank on Karl at his request to keep him safe for the next 24 hours while he attunes to the codex and unattunes from his amulet of protection against detection.   Karl then rushes back down to be there for when Xeldarix, Gummy, EmeliaGodwyn and Uqaviel arrive. He takes them all to the practice so he can start attuning. He contacts the Chanty to let her know what they are doing and get her full name.  
At 2:40pm Fargrim arrives with Lady Topaz and High Paladin Salma at the practice room before heading up to the practice room to meet up with Karl who is attuning to the codex. The group watches over Karl as he finishes attuning. At 3:35pm he has finished as he stands up and looks around to the assembled group. The group gets ready and makes a back up plan in case the Chanty is not pulled into the gate. Fargrim blesses the group.   Karl pulls a large diamond from within his cloak and holds it up. He begins to chant and a golden glow emanates from within the diamond. While he pulls at the air, he speaks a name. "Emma Ashlynn Trulacht.“   The gate opens, water floods into the room and a very pale, and shrivelled looking Chanty is pulled through. She is wearing a grey dress of poor quality. Her legs are in poor condition. Much of the skin no longer connected to the bone. Her wrists are raw and bleeding. She coughs and wheezes. The only cold in her is her cheeks that are a bright red. Her eyes are glazed over.   Fargrim rushes in to look her over and cast regenerate to try and heal the physically damaged skin. It takes a while, but the skin slowly is knitting itself back together and reattaching to where it belongs. While this is happening, Karl gets a message.  
At 3:40pm Lily contacts Karl to say she is at the city's edge and is requesting an update. Karl reassures her everyone she sent got to Brechlen safely and they have rescued the Chanty. Satisfied with that she continues to the manor with Bailey. She drops him off before loading up Alfonso and his cart with the items she took from everyone and head for the mage guild.  
Over time, the Chanty physically is doing much better, but is still clearly unless. They discuss secretly transporting her to the temple of Neira where she can recover safely. Godwyn, Emelia and Gummy head down to the library while Xeldarix and Uqaviel stay with Karl. Salma leaves to arrange a wagon with covering for transport.   The Chanty is updated with the news about Simone, which distresses her greatly in her weakened state. Karl and Xeldarix leave with Uqaviel following as Fargrim stays with the Lady Topaz and The Chanty.  
Arriving downstairs, Steve has finally come back to his office to read the note as Karl messages Erin about what has happened. Karl closes the door and updates Steve on what has happened. Adding to the details that Lily had given the previous day, overwhelming Steve little with how much has happened in such a short time. Karl sits down with Steve and does through everything before leading up to Karl’s plan to seek aid from Sunnis. Steve encourages this and tells Karl good luck. Xeldarix will go and wait with Gummy, Godwyn and Emelia.   Karl sends a message to Jarvis before teleporting to his tower. There he finds Raillath in cat form, who is disappointed it is only Karl who came. Karl invites the hatchling to come with him. Together they head off to the Hall of Heroes.  
While waiting on Salma Fargrim and Lady Topaz decide to keep the Chanty’s being back a secret and will leave the follow up of this incident to the temple. Lady Topaz will speak to Galloway about this, but wants the Chanty to be recovered first. A short time Salma returns and they get the Chanty downstairs and into the wagon to head back to the temple.  
At 4:20 pm Lily arrives. And so does Salma with her covered wagon. Lily goes to the library to check on the group she sent ahead before going down to see Steve. She arranges for the guild members to stay here for a few days. Afterwards she heads to the manor.  
At 5:15pm Fargrim arrives at the temple. He leaves the woman to get the Chanty inside after asking for support in their efforts to hold the group that did this responsible. Salma promises to give them some paladins to aid them.   Afterwards Fargrim goes to find Phobe and Saryea, but they’re not here. He casts Sending to Saryea to find out they’re at the Mollers. It is decided that they will have dinner at the Mollers before he contacts everyone with the sending stone to tell them about the dinner. Fargrim heads off to the temple of Avani/Xeldarix.  
At 5:15pm Karl arrives at the hall of heroes where Renee is reading a book and frowns as Karl enters. There is a bit of banter before Raillath is asked to stay with Renee and Aeryn as Karl goes to see Sunnis. After speaking to Sunnis he learns that the Prince of Fire is having trouble escaping to this safe haven. Karl tells Sunnis all that has happened. Sunnis gives a way for Karl to summon some Earth elementals to aid them.   Afterwards Karl heads back upstairs and back to Raillath. A loud dragon’s shriek indicates an unhappy mother searching for her hatchling. As Karl runs outside he and Raillath are swooped up by Fikra.  
At 5:50pm Fargrim arrives at the temple he goes to find Petyr as per Phobe’s request in a sending ramble. They talk about temple life and how it is similar to cult life. After finishing up some mopping and Fargrim does some praying the head for the Moller’s house.  
After telling Fikra a little what is happening, mindful of Raillath nearby, she takes him to the temple of Anubis for 6:15pm. She waits for him while he goes inside. Inside is a statue of Anubis that the psychopomp speaks through. Upon hearing the situation, Anubis asks what Karl will due to atone for the negligence in regard to the seer’s protection in his eyes. When Karl offers nothing in return for the aid he asks for, Anubis replies that he cannot give aid for nothing as it throws out balance and Karl leaves.   Fikra takes Karl to her home to do a bit of divination with the fire. She leaves Raillath with Kareem while he cooks dinner with Mahdia. They ask the fire how they can rescue Simone.  
The flames dance and flicker, forming vivid images and symbols that slowly take shape.   The fire first shows a street full of people before seeming to shift below to a place of twists and turns. Figure run through the twists and turns, avoiding a darkened spot in this scene.   The fire changes to show someone who looks like Karl with many people standing behind him with swords.   Lastly, there is a figure laying in a bed with another standing in the corner. Karl and his forces flood into the room and everything from there becomes a normal looking fire again.
  However, as Fikra and Karl discuss the reading and the situation, neither of them notice Raillath as a mouth sneaking into Karl’s pocket. Fikra offers her aid to save Simone and then flies Karl to Jarvis’ tower.  
Fargrim, Petyr, Lily and Xeldarix arrive at the Moller house at 6:50pm. Upon Clara’s question, Lily sends a message to find out how long Karl will be. After learning he’s not far away, the group heads inside. Phobe and Saryea are inside. She tells the group that she’s had a great day playing with hammers. While waiting for Karl, the group talks and catches up with Phobe and Petyr.  
Upon arriving back in Brechlen Aeyrn notices something moving in one of the pockets of Karl's robes. As Karl investigates he finds Raillath in mouse form. Realising this is a problem, Karl decides Raillath will have to come with him to dinner. Karl contacts Fikra to inform her where Raillath is before he starts to walk to his parent’s house with two dragons on his shoulders.  
At 7:10pm Karl arrives with Raillath. Aside from a little shock about having a real dragon in the house, the dinner goes well. During the dinner, the misunderstandings with the drawings between Fargrim and Phobe is brought up. This is discussed more after dinner at 8pm as Lily talks Phobe through this. Karl talks with Raillath and Fargrim talks with Petyr.   Rough outline of the conversations:
  • Phobe thinks Fargrim is mean and doesn’t understand why pictures upset people.
  • Phobe agrees to try and draw what other kids like to draw. This might help her make connections with the other kids.
  • Petyr shares what he has observed with Phobe and re-promises to continue to watch over Phobe.
  • Raillath wants to help rescue Simone and saw the fire.
  • Raillath trusts Karl.
Fargrim almost sells Phobe back with Petyr to the temple, which upsets her due to his promise to stay over. However, after being reminded of his promise, Fargrim agrees to take her to the manor.   At 9pm the group gets back to the manor. They find Caramella had made them dinner and will instead take most of it (aside from a plate for Fargrim) to a shelter. Phobe is put to bed in Simone’s room, Raillath is nested in Karl’s bed, as everyone does a few things before bed.   Before bed Karl sets alarms and conjures the dome. Then he grabs Fargrim and Lily to update them on what he managed to get today for resources that will help them with Saarmen. Tomorrow they will use Gate to hopefully rescue Simone. Fargrim fuels Xeldarix’s ring with sending so she can communicate with Nisroc. Nisroc is miserable but doesn’t instantly trust Xeldarix and isn’t currently willing to give his true name. He doesn’t want to trade one master for a new one. He wants to be free. While Xeldarix does this, the group decides who they can use Gate to assassinate.   Lily scrys on Morningsteel. He is just learning the Chanty is missing when it ends. After 15 minutes she does it again. She watches Morningsteel threaten Simone with Abigail and Elliots well-being after being unhappy with a reading. She is sent for a shower and her dose is doubled. Morningsteel talks to a woman dressed like a doctor as he walks away, telling her about the plans to have Simone’s soul sealed in an item so he can get readings that way without worrying about her physical body. Morningsteel heads for a teleportation circle and the scry ends.   Through sending to the angel in the room, they learn the reading was about the Chanty and how a Forged Gate opened to way to her freedom. At 10pm everyone heads to bed. Karl touches base with Erin and tells her about his day before going to sleep.   10th of Erntenir 1524   At 1am Karl gets a message from Erin. They have been attacked by storm giants. Ten seems to have stopped functions and Enna is down. All the officers but Erdad (and obviously Wave since he’s not there) have strange devices attached to them. They’re badly hurt and the ship is damaged. They’re heading for Narzur in Massenmarch. Not a port Erin is familiar with but it’s the closest one on her map.  
Lily is up first at 4:30am and heads downstairs at 5:15am. At 5am Karl also wakes up and heads downstairs at 5:15am. As they have some fruit, Karl updates Lily on Erin’s message last night. They do decide however that Simone is the priority for the day and head off to the mage guild. They leave a note for Fargrim.  
At 5:30 Fargrim wakes up and starts praying.  
When Lily and Karl arrive at the mage guild and secure a practice room. Lily cases Augury to learn that attempts to rescue Simone will end in Woe. Karl casts sending to Simone but gets a mid prophecy ramble from her indicating the severity of Erin’s situation. Karl contacts Erin with the sending stone but gets Erdad instead. Erin won’t wake up, ship is sinking and they are an hour from port. Karl directs Erdad to get everyone and everything on the deck for a quick escape.   After a short wait, Karl pulls Erin through the gate and leaves it open for everyone else to escape through. As Erdad comes through holding Erin, Gustano and Enna and the crew streams through, something knocks them out of the way as they race through. The crew is holding a row boat full of things and Ten. Two large trolls step through with them and start to attack.   Erdad gets Erin, Enna and Gustano out of danger before joining the fight with her frying pan. The trolls badly hurt the crew. Raillath hides, while Lily, Karl and Xeldarix go to town on one troll while the other is banished away. However, the troll’s ability to regenerate brings it back after they thought they had finished it.   After Karl takes Raillath, Erdad and seven of the healthier group of crew members. The gate closes behind them.  
At 6:30am while praying, Fargrim can hear Phobe calling for him and others others. He pauses his prayers to go find her wandering around with a blanket wrapped around her. Fargrim immediately fears she will trip and fall with the blanket by taking it away from her.   Phobe and Fargrim get into a debate of gods vs imaginary friends. Her theory is that the gods are a prank and everyone is too embarrassed to admit they’re talking to no one. Just that tradition tells them to, so they do it. Fargrim tells her to get ready for breakfast and she does so after stealing the  
Lily looks over the officers and discovers they are stable but out cold. However, they are being shocked and spasms. They seem to be dying before stabilising again. Lily looks over Enna and she finds the device causing this. It just seems to blend in with the skin of the victim. It's pinching the spin in the small of the back. She believes the longer they are exposed to this the more damage this could be doing long term. It is like an octopus. Two tentacles on either side of the spine dug in while the other 6 legs spread out for maximum contact with the skin. Feels like metal.   Slowly, between spasms, Lily starts to drag the officers downstairs to the druid area. She sends the crew downstairs to tell the druids about the troll so they can come and collect things for potions. As Lily passes Trinity's office, she discovers that the professor came into work early. She quickly sends Karl a message to confirm he’s back before she talks with Trinity briefly.  
Karl and his group spend half an hour getting everything that was left behind last time before getting ready to teleport back. Then, Karl realises they have a problem with too many people. With a horrible idea, Karl asks Raillath to become small and hold his breath before shoving him in the haversack and teleporting everyone and the stuff back to Brechlen.   As soon as they’re back in Brechlen, Karl pulls Raillath out and Raillath is very upset and scared. He’s trying to bite Karl and get away. Karl manages to convince Raillath to stay within sight by calling on Fikra and Simone as reasons to not run away. However, Raillath does not go near Karl after signing at him to give him a piece of his mind. They head off to find Lily.  
At 7am Fargrim goes down for breakfast to find Phobe wrapped back up in the blanket. Caramella is watching her in the kitchen while also cooking breakfast. When asked about the blanket, Phobe remarks that the blanket is soft while the ones at the temple are scratchy. Fargrim drops the subject.   Caramella tells Fargrim the others had already left for the day as Fargrim gets a message about the madness that has taken place while he was busy praying this morning. He’s asked to come to Mage guild after breakfast to help with the surgery options.  
As Karl comes up the stairs, he finds Lily and Master Barnes with the officers. Lily tells him about the devices and they make plans to surgically remove them. Raillath unhelpfully tries to wake Enna by jumping on her and gets shocked for his efforts. After a near miss for Karl, they resolve to moving them slowly like Lily had been.   By 7am they have everyone in beds downstairs. Erdad is distressed as she fusses over each one, but sends the crew to take their things to a port inn and get Wave. Raillath stays away from the group but within sight. Master Barnes ensured everyone got down there and she went back to her office. The crew collected everything, including the row boat, in the corner. Lily contacts Fargrim and Karl identifies the devices.  
Caramella is doing her best to keep the hungry Phobe and Fargrim away from the pancakes as she tries to finish cooking them, sending them to the dining room. In the dining room Fargrim tells Phobe that he’ll have Caramella take her back to the temple, though it’s clear Phobe doesn’t want to go. However, Fargrim doesn’t leave any room for negotiation.   Together they eat pancakes and not long after, Fargrim leaves and heads for the mage guild.  
Karl finishes identifying the device.   Octo-pulse. This device sends a small charge of lightning into the person it is attached to. If the person falls below 0 it will cast spare the dying. It is designed to prevent long rest recovery by preventing sleep. It can be used for tracking and scrying purposes. When a successful attack roll is made with the device it inserts two tentacles in and around the spine by ethereally fusing with the target. Giving it camouflage-like abilities.   Disgusted with the device, Karl tells Lily about what it does. The pair brainstorms some ways to try and deal with these things.   Karl briefly consults with Master Barnes about options, but wasn’t ready for Master Barnes’ practical and very bloody approach to dealing with the situation. It would be effective but trauma inducing for everyone involved. Through this discussion Karl learns that someone made a move against her family and she had to deal with that.   Meanwhile Lily does a divination asking “How can the forged find and infiltrate the location where Simone is being held captive?"   She gets the follow reply:   "The maze of sewers touch all the important locations in Saarmen. The rats know even where the sane don't go."   Raillath and Lily kind of talk, but it’s really hard to tell with the signing. He wants to help, but is also scared of some of the details Lily shares about the city.   Going back downstairs Karl talks about taking Raillath home, which upsets Raillath. It takes a bit of time to talk him out of coming out from under the bed. Lily suggests that she take him home after she runs a few errands. Lily promises to ask Fikra if Raillath can stay longer and help. She will leave now, heading to the manor and hope Fargrim and Karl can fix the problems here.  
At 8am when Fargrim is halfway to the guild he sees lily wave to him in the crowd to get him attention. She has a large black rat with her. They have a quick exchange about what has happened this morning before Lily continues to the manor and Fargrim continues to the mage guild.  
While waiting for the others Karl tries to peer into Ten’s mind magically. He gets a few things:
  • Excitement
  • Relief
  • The sense that Ten isn't actually unconscious but is doing something on another level.
However this is interrupted by a thunder clap going on inside Karl’s brain and he is pushed out of Ten’s mind. Karl sits down and hold his head while he waits for the ringing to stop.  
At 8:10am Fargrim finds himself downstairs to the resting area for the druids to see Karl sitting holding his head. In the beds are Erin, Enna, Gustano and Ten all spasming at random times but have not awakened. Karl gives Fargrim more details about what has happened and about the devices. Fargrim and Karl discuss possibilities about removing them while waiting for Steve.  
At 8:10am Lily arrives at the manor. As she enters the house she can hear Phobe whining and a patient Caramella talking. Lily listens in for a moment. Phobe doesn't want to go back to the temple. Caramella is reminding her that Fargrim will be disappointed if they don't go but maybe they can get something nice on the way as a treat.   Lily joins the conversation and makes a deal with Phobe. If in a week Phobe can make one friend, Lily will take Phobe on a special adventure. After a bit more of a discussion, Phobe agrees. Afterwards Lily gets in the boat with Xeldarix and Raillath and flies away from Brechlen.  
Steve arrives at 8:20am and the situation is quickly explained to him. Erdad will be assisting where she can. They arrange to try and pull the device straight off of Enna. Erdad pulls but is interrupted by a shock. However she has pulled hard enough that Enna has started to bleed and her back looks... not quiet right. They try again and still can’t get it off. Fargrim looks over Enna and her back. The device is still attached but pulling it has started to pull at the back muscles which is causing injury to them as well as tearing the muscles that the tentacles are attached to. With one more try they get it off, however her spine is broken and muscle has been ripped off.   A casting of regeneration fixes this. A few moments later Enna is waking up. She’s in a lot of pain, but is her usual grumpy self. The situation is explained to her before they move on to try something slightly different to Erin. Karl becomes ethereal and cuts the two ethereal tentacles. He pulls one out but loses one inside Erin. A little bit of time and he gets it out without issue. Fargrim and Erdad rip it off with parts of Erin still attached muscle wise but her spine doesn't look to break like Enna's did.   Steve regenerates Erin and a few moments later Erin is stirring. Erdad comes over to tend to Erin for a moment before they move onto Gustano. Karl uses a Chime of Opening before Fargrim pulls it off and this time it is much easier again. One last regeneration has him on the mend and he goes back to sleep after briefly waking up. Karl shifts back to the material plane. They decide to leave Ten be for now.   Karl goes over to Erin and they talk a little. Karl reassures her everyone is okay and they got everyone off the boat. Steve takes his leave, seeing he is no longer needed. The group has a short rest for an hour.   At 10am Wave arrives at the door. The crew have filled him in. They discuss moving to officers to the manor and Ten to a safe location in case of lightning strike. They also discuss how they can help Ten with what could be a second chance of a trial. However, Fargrim decides that they shouldn’t intervene. Erdad helps Fargrim get the boat to reception before she carries Ten to the boat so he can be safely carried without hurting the person carrying him.   A wagon is gotten for the officers and they carefully transfer the officers to the wagon. Once they arrive at the manor, Karl summons the mansion out the back everyone but Ten is transferred inside. By 11am each officer is settled into bed and are quickly back to sleep.   Karl uses his stone to update Lily as Fargrim takes Ten out of town to the fairgrounds. Karl puts up some protections in the manor before starting to scribe in his spellbook from a scroll.  
At 11:30am Lily arrives at Poden. She checks in with a few curiosity shops before heading to the school. She buys a Robe of Useful Items, a bead of force, cloak of protection, bag of odd mushrooms, and liquid vial. Xeldarix and Raillath are told to wait at a nearby restaurant that has both of them upset at this, but they do go. Then Lily goes to meet with Miss Berry to look over her items and speak with June.   Lily contacts Karl to ask about a Tarrasque and about buying expensive items. They resolve to Lily putting down a deposit and Karl coming by tomorrow to trade the Amulet of Planes for a Dragon Vessel and Storm Giant Strength Belt. Lily buys a bag of holding and a potion of speed.   When June joins them, she shares she hasn’t made much progress due to being unable to study enchanted mirrors or crystals. Afterwards Lily leaves, collects Xeldarix and Raillath, before heading back to the boat and towards archestual.  
At noon Fargrim arrives with Ten at the old circus grounds. There Fargrim calls for a divine intervention to try and help Ten, but his prayers go unheard. Fargrim decides this is enough and yells are Ten to fight it, but upon getting no response he tries to dispel the device. However, it is unsuccessful. After a moment, he realises that he’s being inpatient and talks about the situation with Darghast. Building a fire they settle in for a long watch over Ten.  
At 12:30pm Karl touches base with Molly. They confirm that the group is doing well and they’re being careful while rabble rousing.  
At 3:30pm Lily arrives at Archestual and lands near Fikra’s place. Fikra is delighted to have Raillath back. She and Lily talk about Raillath time away from home. Raillath signs something to Fikra and she promises she will speak with Karl. After a bit more of discussion about Raillath helping the group, Lily offers to do a few things around the mountain over the next 24 hours and would love his help. Fikra allows it as it means Raillath stays on the mountain.   Lily and Raillath head off to go look for rats, with Fikra asking that her son be back for dinner. Raillath leads Lily to where there are rats hiding in town. After befriending a rat, Lily starts a spell to awaken the rat.  
At 4:30pm Fargrim messages Karl. He wants someone to either bring him food or take him over so he can come back for dinner. Karl promises to do this. Karl goes to see Wave and arranges for him to retrieve Fargrim.  
At 5pm Wave and a crew member take over for Fargrim so he can get some dinner. Fargrim has dinner at an inn in the Stonewalk area. He returns at 6:30pm to take over for Wave, though he does buy some rations on the way back as snacks. By the time Fargrim returns, one of the legs is missing from the device.   For the rest of the night Fargrim tries to give Ten a series of pep talks. He sleeps 10 ft away from Ten.  
At dinner time, Xeldarix takes Raillath back to Fikra before returning later to keep Lily company while she does her spell.  
After checking with Fargrim at 6:30pm to make sure he got dinner, Karl is given the request to send some of the crew to go and check on Phobe. Karl approaches Erdad with this request and explains that Phobe is like Fargrim’s pup. Erdad leaves Karl to look after her pups and make sure they eat.   Karl then gets each of the offers up to make them eat and walk around a little. Karl can see they’re struggling and clearly still exhausted. Erin does wake up, but she's glassy eyed and stiff. She's able to walk but she's slower than her usual self. Only a little slower than Karl. She has a bit of a hard time focusing but will go where directed and do as Karl tells her. Gustano and Enna are in the same state though Enna is having more trouble walking and is using the wall as support. Gustano is quiet like Erin while Enna grumbles without actually saying anything. Erin stares at the pair of them for a few minutes before going back to picking at her food and drinking whatever she's been given.   After stretching a bit, then one by one head back to bed. Karl fills Erin in on how Ten is doing and that Fargrim is with him. As Erin gets comfortable in bed, Karl suggests she get up and move more, but she’s so tired. Karl confesses his worry, which had Erin up and out of bed to try and comfort him, but there is little that can be done until everything is done. Too many people to kill. After making sure Karl isn’t going to do something silly like sacrifice himself to save Simone, Erin is tucked back into bed. Karl finishes his night by scribing by her side. At 10:30pm he finishes scribing and contacts Lily and Fargrim before turning in for the night.   11th of Erntenir 1524   At midnight Lily finishes her spell and the rat has Awakened. Lily takes her new friend and heads to Fikra’s. She enters the house to find a large red dragon curled around Kareem, Mahdia and Raillath. She wakes briefly to pull both of them in and they are trapped until morning.  
At 5am Karl wakes up to find Erin having a nightmare. He wakes her and ends the nightmare. They talk a little about what happened and how they should look into getting her resistance to lightning. Erin is able to tell Karl a little more about what happened during the attack and Karl fills her in about what is happening with the groups plans to move forward. It seems the giants wanted the officers to surrender and for the crew to give up where Karl was hiding. Erin and Karl were the primary targets while the officers were secondary targets. The Karl goes about preparing spells for the day. In the meantime Erin has fallen back asleep.   Karl goes out to the main area to find Erdad comes out of Enna’s room. He shows her the speaking stone rune, so if she had to she could use Erin’s stone to contact Karl. Then Karl sends a message to Lily at 6:30am which wakes her up.  
Waking up to the message and to a growling dragon, Lily tells Karl she’ll be back in Brechlen this afternoon. They arrange for Karl to pick up the items from Poden this morning. Looking around, Lily sees the reason why Fikra is upset is because two baby dragons are jumping on her. Lily tries to get the baby dragons away from Fikra and it results in her having two baby dragons that are now jumping on her instead.  
At 6:30am Fargrim wakes up to Karl updating him via the stone on the plans for the day. He then prays for new spells. Halfway through this there are two explosions. Looking over there are now 3 missing tentacles. Then he continues his prayers. Then afterwards gets a whole thing of rations.  
Lily finishes up her meditation and gets out her new rat friend to talk to. She learns his name is Bramblewhisker and his favourite food is wild berries. This includes raspberries, blackberries and elderberries (he believes the last ones to be magical). Lily conjuries some magical berries for her new friend. Then she finds Xeldarix and Raillath and takes them to find the magical bell the group found here months ago.   She and Xeldarix lift it into the boat, but the bell crushes the boat. The steering device is still okay and magical, so likely she will need a new boat for it to go in. Though there might also be a bit of a process getting the enchantment taking to a new boat. She sends Raillath off to get and get Kareem to help her.  
Karl gets Erin up for the day. Makes her walk around the mansion and get some food. Wave gets back from a walk to check on Fargrim this morning. Together they get the officers up and do some gentle yoga. He touches base with Erin about his trip to Poden. She wants go with, but is aware that she was struggle. This makes it a bad idea for her to join Karl.   At 8am Karl leaves to go and get reagents before heading to the mage guild.  
Fargrim gives Ten a rousing speech. Then he casts the commune spell.   Is my encouragement helping Ten? No. Are the people in Saarmen ready to throw off the tyranny of Morningsteel? No. Is lord Orac a faithful steward of the law? No   Darghast and Fargrim discuss the commune.   At 8:30am Fargrim contacts Karl via the sending stone. He updates Karl on the situation. He then walks Ten in the rowboat back to the manor.  
At 9am Karl uses the circle to travel to Poden. He talks with Miss Berry and trades the Amulet for the items and gets 44K gold in gems (as well as giving Karl back Lily’s deposit) back after he also trades in the black magi robes. They will try to shift the alignment and will offer Karl the first chance to buy it back if they are successful.   Karl spends some time helping June while waiting for the circle to be available.  
Fargrim arrives at the manor at 9:30am. He goes to the backyard to put Ten down, before heading into the mansion. He asks for Erin, but upon learning she’s in a bath, he asks for someone else. Though, not liking the responses he is getting, he leaves a message for Erin. Fargrim catches sight of Wave in the kitchen and goes to catch up with him. Wave seems a little put out as he was making a surprise picnic to share with Fargrim. Fargrim tries to take it but Wave isn’t having it. Fargrim guilts Wave into giving the basket over and they settle on still having a picnic together. Fargrim updates Wave on his commune. Then he arranges a blanket to have the picnic.   Wave tries to surprise Fargrim as per request, but Fargrim is watching the door which upsets Wave. They sit down and have a picnic together. Fargrim asks about Phobe. Wave breaks the news that Phobe is no longer Fargrim’s pup, but is now her pup. Erdad is sorting something at the watch.   Fargrim contacts Lily as Kareem arrives. Then continues to watch over Ten and eat with Wave.  
9:45am Kareem arrives as led by Raillath. Lily explains the problem and what she would like Kareem to try. He needs to study the boat for a while before he can say for certain if he can help. Lily contacts Karl to get a ride back to Brechlen. Karl will meet Lily in Jarvis’ tower.  
At 10am Karl arrives in Jarvis’ tower and updates Erin on how he’s going before having a short rest.  
At 11am Lily arrives at Fikra’s house. Lily makes sure Raillath is in eye sight, before saying her goodbyes. Raillath is protesting, but Fikra has it under control. At 11:30 Lily meets up with Karl at the tower. They give each other a quick update. They walk to the bell.  
Erdad gives Fargrim the good news at 12:30pm. Fargrim spots her coming to the backyard. He puts the mask on to better talk with her. As they talk it comes out that the paperwork she has is adoption paperwork for Phobe. Fargrim shares his concerns with this. He does however help Erdad with giving a location idea for where she can put down as an address. Afterwards Fargrim is very conflicted on this.  
At 12:45am Karl casts sending, to notify the mage guild about sending the bell through. He’s already cast private sanctum. Then 5 minutes after the bell he teleports himself, Lily, Xeldarix and Uqaviel through to Brechlen. When they arrive back in Brechlen they move the bell to a secure location in the guild. Then they head for the manor / mansion, deciding that Wellmore needs to be killed and not secured. Gummy, Godwyn and Emilia are given items to attune to.  
At 2pm everyone arrives at the manor and mansion. Fargrim is very happy to see them both. They get everyone together to talk about what can be done in Saarmen. Including Xeldarix staying here to lead her temple in prayer for the group to try and aid them. They then discuss how to murder Edlin Wellmore. They will silence the area, and use gate to pull her through and assassinate her.   After some preparation, they call Wellmore through. A creature that looks like a gith also steps through. She summons a construct to defend her. The group quickly pile on with the attacks, as Wellmore grows frustrated at the good planning from the group preventing her from truly fighting back.
