Starworld 4: The Boonta Eve Classic

General Summary

The group had obtained access to the hangar for the pods through one of Oren's ex-BFs. She managed to get Boba Fett to accompany her to the cantina as Bib Fortuna chatted with the champion elsewhere. The other members of the guild then sabotaged the pod by filling the gas tank with lubricant and having R6 destroy the controls.   They then sought out a bookie and placed a bet of 1500 creds (1400 from Oren and 100 from Jicelli) on the number 4 pod at 4 to 1 odds. Before seeking out the driver and convincing him to allow them to assist them. They succeeded in making friends and accompanied him to the track. As they were leaving to go to the track they encountered a pair of droids (R2-D2 and C3-PO) being pursued by storm troopers. Maintaining their cool despite not knowing the Empire was present on Tatooine they convince the stormtroopers to travel in another direction due to Jicelli's quick thinking (23 on persuasion roll).   At the track R6 managed to tweak his pod to maximum performance moving him from the number four slot to the number 2 slots. He only remained at number 2 because the previous champion appeared and managed to best his pole time. Apparently the sabotage attempt failed, or during the following days the crew was able to affect repairs that reversed their efforts. This gave the group an additional problem.   Oren sought out her old boyfriend in hopes of regaining access to the pod, but he informed her that security had been increased after the sabotage was discovered and he could not get them in again. Additionally he was irritated with her for spending time with Boba Fett. They managed to convince him to get them invited to Jabba's palace, so they could meet the champion instead. Just as they were preparing to leave a gunslinger (Han Solo) shot a Rhodian (Greedo) in a corner booth of the cantina they were in. Oren's BF said he thought his boss was looking for the gun slinger and they pursued. During the chase Oren was shot by Han before Kvix managed to put a blaster bolt between his shoulder blades and incapacitate him. They then grabbed him an managed to get out of Mos Eisley before the Imperials could ID them.
