Session 15: The Forlorn Hope

General Summary

The crew (except for Kane and Rogue) licked their wounds while huddled in the Laboratory de Hector as Riley joined them catching a glimpse of her photo and the photo of the others on the TV screen in the bar next door.   While patching up their injuries, Gene accessed the news bulletin on the NET and displayed it for the team to view. Under the Tower's Shadow   After reviewing the footage Riley informed the crew of that she had deciphered the code(Santiagos ) required to open the lock box and received message that informed her that she may find help at the Forlorn Hope.   After a quick conversation with Rogue who also saw the bulletin, the crew heads to the Forlorn Hope.   Rogue, before making his way to the Hope, made a detour through Japan town to find the Eastenders. After revealing his Katana to the member and meeting with Lee , the two informed Shinzo of the request to assist Rogue to the Forlorn Hope.   At the Forlorn Hope, the team notices a group of Bozo's, a poser gang that take the appearance of clowns, out from of the bar. Leaving Hector and Gene in the Cerebus to recover, the rest of the group entered the bar. Additional Bozo's and a couple of Rusty Tumblers convened in the bar playing a game of Deadman's Dream.   Following the note that she received, Riley broke a glass against the wall of the bar before shouting out insults to the bartender. The bar security RaRa Ray escorted Riley and Jackie out of the back of the bar, where Riley had to fight RaRa in hand to hand combat. After separating his only remaining meat limb, Pete and Morgan gave the crew access to the back room, and a key to get in whenever they are at the bar.   In the back room, the crew met the writer of the note, Action News Thompson. He sat in the back of the bar, drinking alone.   Thompson knew Miles Harper from his days covering the the central american conflict. He informed the crew that he knew Miles Harper, and that Riley's father was in love with Milia Santiago, one of the three Santiago sisters. The retired media man told the story of how the Santiagos were developing a serum to kick the synth-coke addiction, and it worked so well that it could potentially end the stranglehold of the drug cartels across the Central and South Americas.    As part of his story, he told the party that Arasaka wanted the conflicts to continue for profit of fighting, Militech wanted the fighting to continue to sell products, and Biotechnica was making money from synth coke trade as well as the drugs to help those that are addicted. Between the three big companies, they had every incentive to continue the Central American Conflicts for profit. The Santiagos were putting this system at risk, and therefore had to be eliminated.    Thompson believed that Miles had information that could reveal all of this info at his summer manor in one of the beaver towns (suburbs), but wasn't sure where it was. During the conversation, he also revealed that CO-TOM, his son, and CO-SIN were working on something big before they were killed, and that Johnny Silverhand was planning something against Arasaka.
