Session 7: A Lost Amethyst - Von Frost Fight Report

General Summary

There are 6 days left on Noflravell's death-spiral clock. The party reads the note left by Amethyst which reads:   These dumb fucking magicians. They’re meddling with things they think they can control but they can’t. It’s a power maybe equivalent to my mother’s if not stronger. I won’t be able to save you every time, so stay safe. Tell my wife I love her, that I can’t see her until this is done, and that I’m sorry.   Then they summon an ankylosaurus. They travel down to the southern tip, finding the southern furnace. At the furnace, they feel the presence of Jarad Vod Savo. Kenrith gets a vision of being buried alive under bones, his soul being sapped away in the grave fields. The others just feel morose foreboding.   They travel back up, stumbling into the ice castle. The mephits are relatively easily dealt with as is the ice wall. Korac'h punctures the ice wall and subsequent walls with a firebolt leading directly into the main chamber. Unbeknownst to all but Kenrith, a water elemental blocks their path.   Nolfravell sends two darts into the water elemental, not very effectively. The party is clued in, but Korac'h and the ankylosaurus are knocked prone. Kenrith releases his stead from the ice, accidentally knocking Korac'h off of the dino's back.   The elemental attacks the dino as the team does their best to bust it apart while tanking the lair effect's damage.   The water elemental kills the dino who thanks his master solemnly before poofing out of existence. The party swiftly deals with the elemental afterward.   The party rushes into the main chamber. Kenrith deals a powerful blow with all of his stored smites. Nolfravell runs interference while Korac'h is still prone. Von Frost uses finger of death on Kenrith, knocking him unconscious in one blow.   Korac'h finally stands and hits Von Frost with a full power lightning bolt, killing the icy sorcerer. As Korac'h rejoins his friends, Nolfravell stabilizes Kenrith. They loot Von Frost and Korac'h finds his Mace and Journal.   The party plans on exploring, unclear if that's before or after Kenrith awakens with a long rest. (If so, Nolfravell has 5 days left on his clock.) Von Frost's remaining effects dissapate after 4 days total, but the bulk of the castle remains intact unless demolished.
