Session 20: A Lost Empire - Kraken Priest Vortex Report

General Summary

The party is tasked with escorting some dwarves to a mining colony on the Maroon Arches. The head of the mining operation is a dwarf named Mercury, who likes action over talk.   They hit a series of high winds and fail a series of checks necessary to navigate their keelboat.   They come across two simic creations who claim to be kraken priests. They claim the occupants of the boat as a sacrifice and one lifts a cube of water that the boat is floating on into the air.   The other priest swims up through the 100ft. cube and onto the boat, casting black tentacles all over the command deck of the boat.   Kenrith gets trapped by the tentacles while Korac'h misty steps onto the main deck.   The priests send a huge wave onto the deck and several of the dwarves (Collins, Osborne, unnamed) are spilled overboard, as well as the elder veteran who goes deep underwater.   Nolfravell jumps in after while holding onto a rope that Kenrith anchors with his body.   Nolfravell struggles to hang onto two of the dwarves who were thrown overboard, while miraculously the elder is able to resurface and throw the port-side dwarf back onto the boat.   The priests try and fail to command Kenrith to release his hold on the rope that eventually is holding Nolfravell, the elder, and 3 dwarves.   Korac'h whittles down the priests with lightning bolts. He kills the one holding the water up and the entire group free falls down. The second priest catches the water and Kenrith commands him to lower them.   As the party settles, Korac'h deals the final blow with a magic missile. The party takes a deep breath, both priests dead, as they arrive at the arches... which aren't what they expected.
