Session 57: Getting paperwork in Report

General Summary

Recap, last time the team has fought a few ghosts in a fort on their way back to Eschbach.   In Eschbach the usual guards are making their rounds. There is a tranquillity in the usual business. The sergeant of arms is round and about reading some type of note he's been sent.     Meaven calls over Reolus and Grimmaz, she tells us that there's going to be a group from Aachen coming this evening with Count de Ath. To help out with the situation of the fort and the children. Meaven hands a package that is 3,5 to 4 inches long. The package contains a knife with no markings.     Reolus thanks Meaven, for delivering the blade.     Reolus shares the information found in the journal:   One is carrying a journal, recently started, according to it to keep an eye on the Tabaxi and his companions and to await instructions to activate him.     Reolus hypothesized that they might have confused the dead female tabaxi that tried to kill the emperor with Reolus himself. Grimmaz recognizes that this might be the case.     Grimmaz decides to donate some gold to the town of Eschbach from the fort before the emperor arrives.     Father Tossil gets asked by Grimmaz to help with the fort to read the infernal language. Once at the fort Farther Tossil reads the infernal language on the Necroichor which translates to Zarovich the Lich.     Grimmaz takes care to handle the Necroichor with Father Tossil, and the others starts collecting the gold. After that Grimmaz takes Father Tossil back to the burial chamber where they buried the spectre that the de Rais family called. It has the destroyed altar of Set in the room. Father Tossil comments that this is a bad sign.     Father Tossil will try to clean up the sites with the Necroichor and the destroyed altar of Set.     150 pack gold   3 expertly made rugs   Silver candle ware.     A (hacksilver) chest of silver is given to the Church as a donation. The 3 rugs and candle ware will be left in the treasury. + 200 gold left behind.     All members get 20 gold coins as wage, the rest is left in the treasury. 2240 gold is taken out of the treasure and loaded onto the carts, and 10 bars towards the treasury in Eschbach.     Reolus helps with opening up the vault back in Eschbach and helps with securing the vault. Turn to the right, turn to the bottom to open it.   If you do it wrong and stand on the square. After dropping off the gold bars the gang heads to the church to drop off the chest of hacksilver.     Father Tossil explains that he will use the books from the fort to gain more knowledge about Set.       Father Tossil hands a sealed letter to Grimmaz to hand over when Grimmaz sees the Count.     The party heads to the inn. There seems to be some caravans in town that came from the East South-East. Trade people and odd merchant. There seems to be someone from the Dutchy of Genoa according to the coat of arms on them.     Grimmaz gets something to eat and sits down and observes the groups. Reolus takes a nibble of his food and a small drink of the wine. Reolus orders some local fish and beer. Pike fish.     Grimmaz raises a bow and only sees Reolus enjoying his fish.     After dinner. The group heads to the centre and see Meaven talking to some people. Among them a character named Salapane stands out in the crowd.     Salapane is looking for an adventuring group. To aid people after the war. Meaven calls Grimmaz as it's known Grimmaz looks for people who love adventuring.   Grimmaz looks behind at the group, a Tabaxi, hobgoblin, Pixie, High Elf, multiple humans...     Salapane tells that she is ready to help during and after battles.     Count de Ath enters after about 20 minutes with 3 guards and a 2 females. The female wears a coat of arms on the left of the de Rais family crest. The female introduces herself as Countess Gabrielle de Rais and shakes Grimmas the hand.     The countess asks about the children, after which Grimmaz will ask for a moment from Count de Ath. Grimmaz hands the sealed letter from Father Tossil to Count de Ath. The count asks what they should do with the fort. Suggesting that they hand it over to Grimmaz after the countess removes the bodies and cleans it up a bit. Grimmaz was planning on petitioning emperor Charlemagne to gift the lands of the fort and the surroundings to Grimmaz.     Count de Ath tells Gabrielle that the emperor has decided to give the fort and the surrounding grounds to lord Fyrwin. Lord Fyrwin has got a number of companions here that has increased since before. Any that wants to take a hand of property in this regions, we will grant them Frankish citizen rights. This includes the one there (the Tabaxi). No idea where he came from with his kind but he's welcome. The Hobgoblin is also a citizen of the country and the 2 ladies that are there, if you make a move on any of those, you will get the full weight of the crown against you countess de Rais.     Each of the companions was under the protection from Lord Grimmaz already, even though the Tabaxi just feel from the treeā€¦     Lord Fyrwin will be sent 10 more militia of which 5 need to always be in the fort. Lord Fyrwin and a council member must sign off to any new members of the adventuring party. The council member being Cyrielle.     After the children arrive the group heads to the fort.     Count de Ath requests a cart from a local woodworker for Countess de Rais to use for the dead family members.     Cyrielle casts detect magic on countess de Rais from the cart behind countess de Rais. It's starting to become a bit dark when the group makes it to the fort. A couple of guards push the door open and enter first.     Grimmaz notices that countess de Rais is disgusted by the dead bodies of her family members.     The group mentions nothing else is inside the fort downstairs. Only locked cells and a locked door. Suggesting to search it if they want to waste their time.     The countess de Rais moves outside, Grimmaz feels a slight pressure on his fingers. Grimmaz doesn't feel well, but keeps standing and staring at countess de Rais. Grimmaz asks if everything is alright with countess de Rais while smiling. Grimmaz leaves countess de Rais and goes looking for Salapane.     Salapane is outside the keep looking for some herbs. Grimmaz heads to Salapane and explains that he suspects he is poisoned by countess de Rais. Salapane cures Grimmaz of the poison infliction from countess de Rais.   Grimmaz heads over to count de Ath and pulls him aside, explains that de Rais attempted to poison Grimmaz.     The 3 mercenaries dragged all of the bodies out.     Countess de Rais requests to send back the personal belongings of the victims from Grimmaz.     Nearing the end of the day, Reolus hands a list of items that have been taken by countess de Rais to Grimmaz to get it signed by countess de Rais.   Grimmaz hands the list of items to Count de Ath and suggests that they move back to Eschbach.     Countess de Rais signs the document and Grimmaz notes that the signature looks allot like the handwriting of a suspect from the fort. It closely resembles it but the proof is indecisive.   Returning back to Eschbach Grimmaz orders some Burgeaters to guard the fort.     Close to midnight count de Ath suggest staying the night in Eschbach. Grimmaz agrees, and gets a few burgeaters to be stationed outside the Inn.     The group is asked to meet father Tossil. Father Tossil is drinking with a few inquisitors. The inquisitors will be helping with the thing in the fort.     Grimmaz has some small talk with the inquisitors, and asks about the cult of Seth. It came from the East. After giving some info Grimmaz will meet them the next morning.
