Session 86: Diplomats Are Go.... Report

General Summary

Reolus wakes up and goes to wake up Anselma. Following that Anselma goes to wake up Grimmaz, and Reolus goes to wake up Eleia.   Anselma doing the polite knock, but Reolus being in a playful mood will be banging on the door with a piece of wood.   Eleia turns up behind Reolus and taps him on the shoulder, which prompts Reolus to offer the log that he's using to knock on the door to Eleia. Eleia accepts it.   Grimmaz woke up terribly grumpy and opened the door with his clothes turned around and other small mistakes. He still seems sleepy/weak and not fully awake yet. The group goes to the inn and there are a few burgeaters outside the door of the inn.   An extra guard is shown who seems to have the marks of the crown, which stands out from the normal guards of the town.   Harald Richomeres is a diplomat from the crown that is visiting the town. As foretold by Count de Ath, we got send here on behalf of the emperor himself. The diplomat is there to contact the people of Anslema's world.   Anselma visibly reacts hesitant, and Grimmaz reassures her.   Reolus in the meantime goes to follow the group.   Chatting away, place like this out of the way, if it wasn't for the resources and protection in case anything ever happens from our world or theirs, we need something indefinitely placed there for defense. Things can't be safe at all.   The diplomat agrees, from what I can tell and what I've been told they are peaceful unless provoked. Shouldn't be too hard to do that given for something they want.   You never know they might give us something in return, have to keep trying.   They are going to the other end of the townhall. Couple of guards wandering around but they don't take notice of Reolus. They don't see him at all. Bjorn sits at the council and Reolus makes sure that Bjorn knows Reolus is there but wants to remain hidden.   You know why we're here. Our lord d' Ath with plenty of contacts and with meeting this young lady Anselma, we are curious what you make of the possibility of us meeting members of their people   Setting up trade routes, diplomacy, some type of trade going through. Maybe a defensive alliance for both our sakes.   Anything else you might find useful you can tell us?   Bjorn speaks up. Might be worth it to take it easy, they are very wary people. It's only Anselma and her husband here. Let them make up their mind show some good faith first. They may want to see some gestures first that you're above suspicion. Try not to force them to take any religious matters trough. Contact with others might be bad/requires other stuff to be adopted.   Harald agrees with Bjorn, he's a bit dejected from the news.   After some time Anselma, Grimmaz, and Eleia have eaten and they slowly move to the council.   Eleia not feeling the diplomacy suggests that she goes to check on the daggers and animals. Which Grimmaz understand and tells her to take care of that and to come rescue him at the smallest thing needed.   Eleia checks up on the daggers and checks up with the animals. The dragon egg is coming along fine, probably another few weeks but there is some movement in it. The Wyvern is doing the usual aggressive stuff, and the griffon is starting to respond better to people.   Eleia nods to Emma and goes to the griffon. The Griffon is now big enough to jump out of the nest onto the ground. The Griffon is in his preteen years and takes an interest in Eleia's boots.   Anselma explains to Grimmaz how her people operate…   My people where joined with another tribe, they used to be as one tribe in the forest. But the governments in Wynsumheord are quite as Eleia was saying, they were seen as evil by allot of people, there's kingdoms everywhere. The middle was thought be cursed, but allot of their subjects where escaping into this escaped land to live free and out of their oppression. I was not one at this time, but my tribes lives above where the Northern king was, he expanded his kingdom, took over our lands and oppressed us as slaves.   So we escaped into the cursed land which is now known as Wynsumheord.   That is how our tribe split. Half of our tribe wanted to use the kingdoms methods, but the other wanted to live in nature like we used to. The Firgenholt Woodsmen people don’t ride horses, they even only wear clothes when needed. They are very opposed to go against nature, or anything that hs to do with defiling nature.   My people the Sundorwick Forest Peoples we embraced some of the advancements of the kingdom, but we were exiled for it. But we still live close to each other, where the others keep a stern eye on us to keep us from endangering their part. They are not opposed to attacking us to stop us.   It's something that we are afraid of, as people from another world would bring attention to us. I do trust you Grimmaz, as you seem to be an upstanding person. But don't let the other tribe know as it will bring more trouble than we should have.   Grimmaz relates to the explanation of Anselma. And then enters the council chamber…   The council wave to get Grimmaz to join them.   After some small talk Grimmaz asks about countess de Reis. After some small talk, Grimmaz brings up the negotiation between the tribes. Harald asks to be introduced.       Harald is looking for a peace treaty with the crown as stakeholders. If anyone in Eshbach tries something funny, we'll step in. But we want peace between our people and that's the main thing.   The second point we want a military alliance, we don't know how your people will feel about that but if you're ever bothered we can send troops trough the portal to help out. Could be that we call up your people but we have no idea how your people will react.   Just meeting you your people wouldn’t be happy about it.       Anselma explains how her people are and Harald writes it down. As he says that Anselma laughs a bit but she tries to compose herself. With all due respect. The other tribe is not open to negotiations. The Sundorwickians if anyone is open to negotiate they will find themselves dead.       Besides that we're looking at trade agreements we will barter for coins, we would be open for that.       Anselma seems to think allot. That is another thing about the Firgenholt Woodsmen. Harald puts a question mark besides it.       Another thing that might not be applicable. There was the idea of sharing technology and science stuff. But if they cause trouble it might not be on the table. Anselma is not saying this agreement is impossible. It seems advantageous for all of us people to ally together, but we have to do it in a way that is not very conspicuous. I can agree to such if you allow us to do the main communication with any other tribes. Also we will have to travel into this world and have to minimize your people traveling into our world.       That gives me an idea (says Harald) some of the ideas we're looking for, we have some high religious leaders who are interested in sharing faiths. But we can take this off the table as we don't want undue attention on your people form that other tribe.       Grimmaz doesn't dispute the trade of resources and technology, but he will remind lord Harald to not be too quick.       Harald was also thinking of military presence which can be changed so that they keep it on this side.       Grimmaz won't dispute the option to house a small force within the town, but reminds Harald that the portal is in a groove.       Harald explians there's 2 more small points, if they want to become Frankish people it's possible. Furthermore if they are open to be recognized as allies. At the discretion of Grimmaz they are also allowed to use the coat of arms of Eshbach.       Harald is obviously trying to offer an olive branch and wants to discuss any clashing laws. If you want to change anything let us known. We'll keep the religious part off the table so that it doesn't attract any attention.       Near the end Harald notices the Tabaxi hiding up the rafters. Mentioning it and reports that they are excellent.       Eleia chekcs on the blades and sees that they seem to be done with some dwarven runes on the daggers. Whoever feels the touch of this blade will suffer, the blades are not fully done but Eleia will check back in a day or 2.       Whenever the blades hit something they can do some poison damage if Eleia can get some snake leather, but it's not something you regularly come across. Eleia heads on out and looks for a jeweler to sell her pearls. Eleia finds some shops owned by gnomes who have just settled in.       After some time Eleia comes to the council chambers and pulls Reolus tail to get him off the rafters.       Eleia smells a conspiracy and decides to get more information from the thieves guild as to why the crown wants to put military presence in Eschbach and Anselma's world.       Reolus and Eleia find a contact in the bar, and they share a message with him to find out what others know.   From a paper that Reolus gave, they received information. The paper read: Harald Richomere, Wynsumheord, Agreement.       HR is trying to push his own agenda to get a name for himself. The crown is worried about the Saxons around Eshbach and thus is looking to place troops and gain troops.   Harald is known for taking meticulous notes also.       HR not only wants his peace treaty to go through, but he also wants to be involved with any treaties.   If you can get the copies of anything drawn up, we might do a little doctering for you.
