Session 72: What Happens During The Night.... Report

General Summary

Eleia suggests to Reolus and Anselma to stay in town and send a messenger bird to Father Tossil to get information on the armor, cloack and daggers. Reolus suggest to ask how to bake cookies as to not paint a target on your back.   Eleia decides to see if a local villager is willing to share information. The drunk villager asks if Anselma and Eleia are there for a ritual tonight.   Eleia tries to get more information from the drunk villager called Stephan. But the barman interrupts. The villager admits that he had a bit too much to drink. Eleia continues to ask if they are decendants from the people in the crypts.     The villager mentions that a group was looking for a Cloak of Shadow. They were digging around the graves. The local priest took note of it and went to investigate. The priest who went to investigate them seems to have disappeared.   Another villager bumps in to not mention too much from the local affairs.   Eleia and Anselma end up looking for Reolus.   Eleia and Reolus will be sneaking around and look for information on the ritual. Anselma goes to the room and makes it seem as if it's busy in the room.   Reolus suggests to act drunk as hell with Eleia, The bar owner wants to close up and Reolus pushes for just one more. The waiter refuses and Eleia suggests to go and drink the wine from the afternoon.   Closer to midnight the door to the outside opens and closes. Around midnight all 3 of us hear very strange distorted sounds and drumming coming off from the west of the village. It sounds like scratching from inside the walls of the rooms as if there are rats in the walls.   Reolus uses the lockpicks to open the door of the tavern. They leave the door open and in the shadows to the west.   Eleia and Reolus move to the west and see a few tree's behind the tree's there seems to be the remains of an old tree and something else. Eleia and Reolus use stealth to move closer to the location.   There is a fire, a stone crypt-like monument, with goats & a goat head carved at one end. The people are in old robes playng battered old drums, and pipes made of bone. The music dissonent & upleasent.   The Half-Orc speaks a strange language, around 40 people are in the group and they have the priest in their basic clothes and gagged. The priest is pushed towards the big gate/skull and seems to disappear. The Bladed Pouch members that also seem to be captured there are also being forced towards the gate.   A white clawed hand and a strange goatman thing reaches out from the gates and drags one of the people in who tries to wriggle back out.   The ritual gangs seem to be shouting Shub-Niggurath.   After the last one is thrown in the cultists start dancing around the fire. They start kneeling down and something seems to come out.   A goatman of some stature comes out of the portal. It put its hands up and starts speaking in a strange language.   After which the goatman thing goes back into the portal. The cultist start cheering and celebrating. The Half-Orc picks out 4 people, says something and they step forward. All Eleia and Reolus can hear is the word now. Young and old, primarily young ones drop off the clothes turning naked. They start to wriggle a bit, put their hands on their back and they start to split open.   They wriggle out and their skin drops off leaving them flayed alive. Everyone is clapping and cheering about it. The Half-Orc steps forward and everything is put back on. They put their clothes back on and everyone celebrates and is joyous. The Half-Orc says enough time is up. They pack up the stuff.   Reolus suggests to move back and discuss with Anselma on what to do. Eleia and Reolus rush back stealthily and move the horses out of the stable. Once at the Inn on the door there's a strange mark on the door. A slimey line from the top right to the bottom left and some spots. Eleia investigates it and suspects that the creature that left it has claws.   There seem to be hoofmarks around the doors. The marks vanish at a wall. After setting fire to the inn, Eleia goes to the stables and gets the horses out and scares them around. Reolus suggests to also not move together out of town and instead move with the other horses and also exit separate out of town and when safe head SE to regroup.   After some time the villagers return panicked and round up the horses.   The group explains what they found while moving back towards Eshbach. Along the way the group sees that it seems like it is practiced allot more around the villages. After some time they find themselves back on the major roads. The next day early evening the group makes it back into Eschbach. Anselma is eager to get rid of the cursed armor.   The armor has advantage in sleight of hand and proficiency with it. The cloak gives advantage for stealth.   The daggers rot the flesh and poison the person for about a minute. It is +1 magical damage, but also does 2d6 necrotic damage. DC 15 constitution saving throw to avoid being poisoned for 1 minute.   Eleia continues wearing the cloak giving her advantage on Stealth roles.
