The once-sleepy mining hamlet of Minroe bears the scars of a recent cataclysm. In the dead of night last month, a tremendous eruption shattered the silence, sundering the mountains to the west. Homes were flattened, lives were changed, and when the dust settled, a gaping wound in the landscape remained – a new pass through the once-impenetrable peaks.

This village is on the rebound from the disaster, grappling with the death of loved ones, broken families, and rebuilding in the wake of this unexpected opportunity. The merchants' guilds of Cormyr wasted no time seizing upon the potential of this new gateway, transforming the village into a place of previously unknown bustle and movement – to the delight, and chagrin of its residents. Trade caravans now line makeshift roads, and the air is filled with the clamor of construction as Minroe strains to adapt.  A hastily assembled barn-turned-tavern called 'The Crossroads' overflows with newcomers – merchants, opportunists, and the curious. Whispers of newfound wealth and hidden dangers travel with equal speed.

Villager of Minroe: You survived the upheaval. Your life's been turned upside down, but there's a stubborn resilience in you.

Minor Boon: We will discuss a local NPC, or group that will provide a service for less than standard rate.

Drawn by the Pass: You see opportunity. Perhaps you represent a powerful faction in Cormyr, or you're an independent soul drawn to the potential riches.

Key Contact: A figure of influence tied to your backstory sent you (merchant guild leader, noble, etc.)
