Session 19: Who's A Fey of the Big Bad Wolf

General Summary

Session 19 Recap: Who's A Fey of the Big Bad Wolf   The party left the large portal chamber in Tear's Lookout, known as Boeshoren's Home using the Pin of Peace as a key. This led to a living area dominated by a grand piano in the middle; trinkets, nick knacks left abandoned around the place, but upon searching found three riddles; Riddle 1 "I gleam with power, control, and pride, Worn by those who stand on the side Of law and order, or threats they wield— What am I, a symbol and shield?"   Riddle 2: Caged "Freedom stolen, locked away, Hope grows dim with each passing day. Behind these bars, no sky to see, What am I, where life is not free?" Riddle 3: Faded "My colours were bright, bold, and strong, But time has sung its gentle song. Now pale and soft, I quietly rest, What am I, where hues are suppressed?"   When playing the piano, and with magic detected the party soon recognised a link between Piano and doors, Shadow going one step further to surmise that the notes would spell the words answering the riddles; An experiment with the first revealed Riddle 2: Answer: Caged, Colmir played C,A,G,E,D on the piano - and the locked room opened revealing a pile of gold in a chest at the end of the room. Beyond magical darkness was dispelled revealing a cage trap above the door locking anyone who entered inside. Using the immovable rod, this trap was prevented from dropping too far, Lucky greedily dove towards the treasure, releasing the trap and the treasure down a pit. The first use of a magical rope led the party to discover the duplicitous fake nature of the treasure. Next up - the answer to Riddle 1; B A D G E - immediately released a Wraith - behind the moans indicated more; but the Cleric of Helm was more than up to the task, banishing several of them before swiftly dispatching the fourth, and closing the door on them before they could return from whence they came (mostly the shocked and surprised tap room of The Old Mans Face in Tyrluk)   Finally, when the violence of authority, the weapon of incarceration the true way forward was revealed when fury has F A D E D and the way forward revealed.   Leading into a room lined with stone walls and pipes, leading to pour into more large pipes that fed channels into a large steel bowl in the middle of the room, with a lever nearby. The door at the far end, sealed, with a crescent moon above, its edge faintly glowing. Magic detected a link between bowl and door.   The barbarian with no time to spare happily yanked the lever, causing water to flow down from the pipes, into the channels and filling the bowl, the moon waxed wider, but also released Ochre Jellies across the ceiling; a frantic battle ensued whilst those that feared acid kept their distance, resulting in the slimes dropping on those that hadn't stepped back, splitting in twain upon damage. But the slimes were carefully dealt with, whilst Ironfang the Loup Garou lingered in the piano room for some reason known only to himself; Bob was able to tank the brunt of the damage.   The water filled the bowl and the party able to find a hallway - at the far end the door was opened and a spear visible on a weapons rack alone; using mage hand, it was retrieved - The Point of Peace.   Leaving the any potential other contents of the far room alone, fearful of traps and unexpected surprises the party swiftly retreated to the core portal room.   A heated discussion remained, as luckys favourite magic item was demanded to open the portal, a small hole for the spear available, but only once the Pin and Point could pinpoint Peace - and his final spirit in draconic form could be summoned. Despite the possible risk, it was agreed to combine to the Pinpoint of Peace and Boeshoren's spirit was summoned through the portal door - a blue and silver dragon spirit appeared;   Threatening and dangerous it was summoned forth; Boeshoren's spoke...   “Whew! That’s a lot of light! Okay, okay, where am I; right, right, portal magic, classic. Hey kids, name’s Boeshoren, big-time protector, long-time dead guy, back on the scene. So, tell me—what’s the crisis?” The party filled him in on the Queen of Thorns, and specifically Fury, whom they hoped to defeat; "Okay, let’s break this down— I wake up, big dramatic entrance, looking all majestic, and bam—Queen of Thorns? Free. Fury? Wrecking the place. My wife, who I definitely did not banish to save the world? Back and mad as hell. Fantastic. Great start to my afterlife." Boeshoren's clarified the pinpoint of peaces use; "Alright, here’s the deal. That thing’s my tether - use it, and I’ll be back when it counts. You’ll need me when you face Ursa in her Lair at The Warm Waterfall, and trust me, I got some things to say to her. No pressure though - just, y’know, the fate of the realm and all that. Catch ya soon!"   Ironfang, somewhat taken aback, confirmed the party can consider the Lunar Conclave an ally, and left the portal back to Tyrluk.   Tired, and worn out the party stopped, and paused, and although aware that time may not pass the same way in Faerun, opted that it was worth the risk to rest here in the safety of Tear's Lookout in the Feywild pocket realm.   Rested, the party set forth back through the portal - however more time had passed than originally feared - days, maybe even weeks had expired, and since then Fury had taken full claim of Tyrluk, riots in the streets, Wyverns attacking at will, buildings burnt to the ground, or currently on fire. The wyverns hovered over the north and south of the town, a third wyvern approached from the east, and the giant form of Fury made itself known;   Awaiting the fight the party readied to summon Boeshoren - but Fury ignored them, instead making their way to the entry to Boeshoren's home, scorching it with fire (with breath normally reserved for Dragons not Wyverns).   There we left our adventurers; frustrated and shocked by the passage of time... was it too late? Could Fury's edge be tamed?   We'll find out next time in ... Session 20: Mad Packs: Furys Abode
