Session 0: Character Creation + Krenko's Way Report

General Summary

After learning of Krenko's escape, the Office of the Guildpact starts an investigation to find out who helped him. Suspecting foul play by one of the guilds they ask novice adventurers to help them in exchange for a modest amount of gold.   Having learned about this opportunity to prove themselves, Favole, Nitt, Ophelia and Varis accept the mission and meet up with Nassius Ven who explains the situation to them.   Time being of the essence, they decide to investigate the location where Krenko escaped the guards that were transferring him to his new, high-security, prison before the trail got too cold. When they arrive at their destination, they notice that a small explosion took place there, but most of the debris has already been cleared. Looking around, Ophelia notices someone living on the other side of the street looking at them with a curious look. Flashing her Boros insignia, she beckons the observer to open his window so they could gather some information. The intrigued Ravnican confirms that he was at home when the whole commotion happened. Unfortunately he only heard some screaming, followed by an explosion, followed by more screaming. By the time he had come to the window, all he could see were 2 humanoid figures "kidnapping" a small humanoid. After being informed that the small humanoid was none other than Mob Boss Krenko, the observer guided the party towards The Lusty Sewer Rat, an inn where they could find Falish, a known associate of his.   After waiting a while at the inn (and enjoying some surprisingly good food, given the state of the inn), they see Falish and confront her. She immediately downplays her involvement with Krenko, stating that she had never sold him anything dangerous and washing her hands off from anything he might have done. To prove her good faith she tells them about a workshop she knows about where his gang operated from.   When the group arrives at the address that Falish has given them, they find a workshop that seems to have been abandoned for quite some time. Going around the building they find a backdoor and use it to infiltrate it without being seen. Once inside they find the floor full of wooden debris. After looking around for a few minutes they find a trapdoor that looks to be in pristine condition, especially compared to the rest of the building. Going down they arrive in a narrow passageway that seems to lead them along Tin Street, but underground. After a few minutes they discover a cave with a floor that's covered in mushrooms. The small water that flows through the cave seems to indicate that they are in the sewers of Ravnica.   Following the stream they arrive at a second, bigger, cave. There they discover a second kind of fungus that nobody seems to recognize. In one of the corners they see a pile, also covered in fungi. When they approach they quickly discover that it is actually a pile of corpses. Unfortunately for the adventurers, some of those seem to be only half dead and rise as zombies, attacking them. After being frightened at the beginning of the combat, the group quickly disposes of the undead and decides to continue.   The next cave they enter is similar to the last but there they find three piles, and stairs that seem to bring them back up. Wisely deciding to give the three piles a wide berth, they take the stairs up and find a pair of doors. Slowly sneaking in, they find themselves in a warehouse. Thinking they are alone there, they decide to open a few of the crates and discover pristine unused weapons. Of notice is that those weapons lack any kind of signature that might have made their maker known and they all look absolutely indistinguishable from one another, suggesting some kind of illegal factory work. Noticing a passageway at the far side of the warehouse, they decide to investigate.   There they find Krenko and two hobgoblins. The fight is fierce enough to take down Varis but in the end the adventurers prevail. Once they have secured the goblin they investigate the room and find some documents proving that Krenko was providing weapons to a rebellious guild-less group that was trying to take down the Guildpact. Taking Krenko into custody they go back the same way they came from and deliver him to the Office of the Guildpact where they are met by Nassius and Lydia Kos. Apparently the Boros had been leading an investigation of their own and the group's findings seem to corroborate what they were already suspecting.   After a quick debrief Nassius Ven hands them each a promise of reward and promises to inform their respective guilds of the help they provided.
